@superdubman999 I suppose the English voice actors were chosen to mimic the Japanese ones as closely as could be. In Japanese, Kawaiisa culture, a woman over 25 years of age is considered old. They're called Christmas Cakes, after the cakes that are high-priced before Christmas, then bargained off after Dec. 25th. So for women, either you squeak or you're a hag. Sad but true.
@xjxm They dont squeak in japanese hitomi sounds great in japanese so do the other girls. if we could get a 21 year old english speaking woman itd be good but they always get 17 year olds or 30 year olds.
@superdubman999 Isn't Hitomi only 17-18, though? And on the "squeaking", I was referring to the Japanese cultural obsession with cute things, which this game's art developer did not seem to partake in when designing these reletively mature characters.
@xjxm Oh ok. And Yeah shes like 18 or something but the thing is japanese girls sound older, get a 17 yr white girl and a 17 japanese girl white girls are high pitched. The english voice acting industry needs to take that into account and get someone who sounds young but not high pitched. Honestly compare hitomis japanese to english and wow its like a human being compared to a squeak toy. So they say ok well get someone older and they get a 30 year old woman but they sound like their 49!
@superdubman999 I don't know the state of American voice acting talent pools. Maybe they couldn't find someone suitable? Maybe they just didn't consider any of this. I didn't work on the game so I don't know.
I can tell you what it is. In japan being a voice actor is a serious respectable well payed job. In america they just think your a punk and you do it for a side job and you dont get paid squat. Thats why theres so much better in japanese. Its not that it CANT be better in english, ive seen better things in english that are great, its just theres a smaller talent pool. So youl get young people who maybe have an interest doing voice acting, or 30+ year olds who resigned themselves to that life
@superdubman999 Some of the bigger names in English voice acting can charge some serious cash for their work and they do what they do because they love it, I believe, not because they're resigned to it. I can't contest that Japan has the bigger (biggest?) scene in the animation business and that those who do popular character voices are themselves iconic like the silver screen stars in the U.S.A. Our smaller scene does get less respect but I'd hardly call VA a side-job; it takes serious skill.

@xjxm If your talking about getting actors to do it yes serious money. But people who live ONLY in voice acting no they dont get alot of money.

@superdubman999 You sir are a drop of reason in an ocean of hysteria and stupidity!!! It's pathetic how people unreasonably hate on english voices.
