I like the concept, do not like 2 wheels. This is NOT the future. less wheels = less traction. We need MORE traction not less. How will this perform in snow? Go back to the drawing board gm. Put 4 wheels back on or do a track type drive system. Or just put SideDriver wheels on it! SideDriver. Drive allways.
Honey, please hold the three bags of grocery and the dog. I have the little one on the roof duck taped. I think we'll make it home. What a joke, Scotty beam me up - no intelligent life down here! Al Gore, gp for this one!

Your a hypocrite. The fact that you felt you had to leave a snide remark on my comment proves it. You weren't being kind, generous, or thoughtful, just rude. Go Troll someone else, or better yet, be thoughtful about your own quote. Maybe you'll learn something about yourself.
@ExplorerPersonHI No, this is what GM is doing with your Escalade, Hummer, and Suburban dollars since you spent 50 grand on a 20 grand auto cuz you saw it in a music video.
This is a new idea???? Electric golf carts have been around for a long time? What they don't mention is batteries are not efficient. The area would have to be completely level no hills. What about a big family? Family dog? How much is affordable???? In a CEOs mind $50000 is affordable? How much will they cost?
Its entirely unneccesary. Manage to get rid of traffic and start walking. It's silent, its doesnt stink and it doesnt waste energy. This plastic article is completely useless. Bug cities are here to get rid of car traffic, not to create it.
Actually instead of creating new cars AND improving public transportation.. we could change the cars that already exist with cleaner, more efficient engines. After all, what are we going to do with hundreds of millions of useless cars? when oil becomes too expensive for the middle classes? What a waste of plastic and metals...
@Abcflc I think it would be a good idea to use those wasted materials to build more trains and subways. You could even link one car to another to create an improvised train (ridiculous but useful). Everything's better than the current situation; a polluted chaos with lots of asleep, immature, drugged or drunk drivers crashing against each other. Maybe in your country that's not an issue, but here in AR people is not mature enough to respect other drivers and follow the traffic regulations.
This could be You,a Loved One,Friend or someone you just see. Thousands of car accident victims were left behind by the massive government bailouts of GM and Chrysler. The $50 billion rescue of GM and the restructuring of Chrysler allowed them to "wash away legal responsibility for car-accident victims who had won damages or had pending lawsuits," OMG just found out,NO VOLT FOR ME.
I shot 3D video of the EN-V vehicles in actionat the 2011 SAE World Congress courtesy of Cars Ind Depth, the first 3D site for car enthusiasts. but YouTube apparently won't let you link to other YouTube videos in comments. @smashrobot3ZO I agree. Unless they are able to create more types of this vehicle, as in trucks, minivans, SUV's and what not. I think if they push it hard enough it could be a possible future. I'm sure many people wouldn't mind seeing all those futuristic science-fiction movies come true. I know I wouldn't!!
where is the trunk? they need more space. nobody is gonna buy a 2 person segway egg lookin' thing and i hope i'm wrong, cause i feel bad for GM. they aren't doing so well. just seams like they are waisting money on this project.
@Yerm620 Waisting money on a project that pushes forward the concept of energy conservation and sustainability? Are you an oil company lobbyist or something?
@michaelthorner so you jump at me for being an oil company lobbyist for saying their wasting money.. I said nothing about being pro-oil whatsoever... so please don't put words in my mouth, thanks.. also I noticed a couple comments below mine someone said "put a Hemi in it and I might consider one" where's your witty remark for that one?
@Yerm620 I wasn't putting words in your mouth. I was just a bit shocked that you would go so far as saying that the car manufacturer was wasting (not "waisting") its money on innovative ideas. We won't know which innovative idea will catch on with the public, but with sustainability on everyone's minds these days, it helps to be supportive to the concept, that was my only point, however vaguely I may have put it across. I absolutely agree this idea will not work for families. Singles? Sure.

It was interesting to me, to hear the disabled being mentioned. I am disabled, but I do have a driver's license. This makes me curious about what country this man lives.
Will never go through snow, so if worthless based on this winters weather from Texas to Canada and it's very obvious that none of the large car and design firms think people will have multiple children in the future. Nothing but 2 seat boxes.
Good idea but how would they implement it? Could people with normal cars still drive on the road? Would these have their own lanes? Would there be a government enforced trade-in for those with regular automobiles?

What's wrong with walking? Is this machine created to make walking obsolete? Even if this thing was rechargeable, it still requires electricity and a lot of electricity is created through burning coal, which still destroys the environment.
@XanderTG Walking is fine for very short distances but it doesn't remove the need for vehicles. I do agree this isn't the answer - first, there is no need for it to be human driven, humans are extremely unreliable and 95% of accidents are caused by human error, so automated PRT is a better idea. Electricity however is definitely the future - using coal is just a nasty side effect of the profit motive, not because it's in any way a good idea, and it has to go.

The EN-Vs does address 5 of the 6 big concerns of urban travelers Mr. Barroni-Bird points out; but, as several comments point out, it does not adequately address the SAFETY concern.
I agree. DRIVING A VEHICLE LIKE THE EN-V IN A HEAVILY TRAFFICKED CITY WOULD BE LIKE WALKING IN AND ABOUT A BUSY CITY THAT HAS NO SIDEWALKS.
The safety issue, and a solution to it, can be viewed in some detail at website PETsolutionOnline(dot)com
HOW THE FUCK IS THAT SAFER?!?!?! THE ONLY THING STOPIN YOUR FACE FROM BEING SHREDDED BY CONCRETE IS GLASS!! so not only will you have some serious road rash you will have a face full of glass...and the guy at the end looked like a fag...."LOOK AT ME IM SPINNING IN A GAY....WHATEVER THE FUCK THIS IS!!!" ...ill tell you what it is...A WASTE OF MONEY!!!
Can it go off road? How fast is this piece of shit? What happens if a fucking truck runs into it? Any traction for rain, snow, mud, gravel? Can you carry anything at all inside of it (I'm a hunter and a fisher) like a dead deer or maybe some bass? Is the piece of shit safe for babies to ride in?
@turkzil come on man, you know the answer to damn near every one of those questions. if it hits a truck its trashed. does it look like there's any room for a deer? it's about as safe for a baby as a MR-2. the thing isn't meant for off roading or even driving on the same roads as trucks really. it's pretty much just a concept. in may pick up, but only in other countries where the vehicles are already small, or one's that dont have too many cars (china)
@turkzil obviously this isn't the type of vehicle for a hunter, its a concept car to meet the growing problem of increasing urbanization. don't worry, you wont have to drive one.
yes nezneon you are so superior to a whole nation, i love how ignorant people are, i guess you are the same as your neighbors and every other guy in your country
Between this and the solar sails that are planned to be released in 2011, K. A. Applegate's book series "Remnants" is strikingly prophetic. Which isn't a good thing, as the first book begins with the destruction of the Earth by a giant asteroid.
GM rep: "It's an electric vehicle, which means it creates zero emissions and it can run on renewable energy"
translation: "THIS VEHICLE HAS ZERO EMISSIONS, BUT THAT ISN'T THE CASE FOR THE COAL FIRED POWER PLANT DOWN THE BLOCK, and it can potentially run on a charging station where electricity is generated from wind-turbines or solar panels -- but those don't even exist today anyways."
looks like a decent concept. the only thing is the lack of versatility as far as top speed. the concepts that "lie down" more flat as they speed up seem to tackle this problem. maybe add a third wheel to accomplish this. can still drive slowly and park upright.
I find this diffident man talking in a barely audible volume about his silly-looking little vehicle rather annoying.
However, I think the concept has great potential. Although it looks like it might be fun to ride in, I don't think I want people staring at me sitting in it. The windows need to be made of maybe something like photochromic glass with a reflective coating for privacy.
I can see these being popular for night clubbing, allowing people to drink without having to drive.
you just know this guy is a sales rep, his excitement about this product is off the hook, I just want to take my shirt off and dance and call up my congress woman and tell her to send GM a bunch of cash to make this, In my opinion this car is for old people , like the honda element( elderment) but dude, how will the targeted market hear anything with this guy, by the way this thing looks so freaken slow, I think Ill take a walk, will do more good and I can carry more stuff,
Hey you know what is affordable, green, and low maintainance? A BICYCLE. Screw this thing, ride a bike. If its raining, wear a rain jacket. If its hot, wear shorts and a t-shirt, if its cold, wear long johns. It's not has hard as you think it is people.
I think this is a GREAT idea, however it will never fully be accepted in urban or any environment because people will not give up the experience of driving. People will always want to drive fast, have muscle cars, ride Harleys, throw spoilers on Honda Civics, etc.
i think its good that people are talking more about earth friendly vehicles, but when i get a car, i want it to be a CAR not piece of plastic with a lawn mower engine. but that's just my opinion.
@dontclickprofile Although, It looks like instant death in a pile up and even some average wrecks. Imagine glass flying at you from everywhere in a mass of confusion. Mean while the world is flipping and smashing around you at 70 miles an hour. In a matter of moments your left lying their watching the truck that's barely even scratched pass you by.

@nezj89 That idea was a Popular Science issue years ago by a Japanese concept. Maybe that's where they got this idea from.

Very good Idea for a game the thing is we need to shrink are cars and in doing so we have these couple of these benefits.
As our populations grow it will get pretty crowded look at cities really crowded already and this could help alot with that.
The little designs make it easier to afford
if everyones starts into this trend wrecking probably wouldnt but that bad
Maybe it isnt so good with taking a hit by a truck but from what i have seen no car is.
merccc1 1 year ago
Can it go off road? How fast is this piece of shit? What happens if a fucking truck runs into it? Any traction for rain, snow, mud, gravel? Can you carry anything at all inside of it (I'm a hunter and a fisher) like a dead deer or maybe some bass? Is the piece of shit safe for babies to ride in?
turkzil 1 year ago
@turkzil come on man, you know the answer to damn near every one of those questions. if it hits a truck its trashed. does it look like there's any room for a deer? it's about as safe for a baby as a MR-2. the thing isn't meant for off roading or even driving on the same roads as trucks really. it's pretty much just a concept. in may pick up, but only in other countries where the vehicles are already small, or one's that dont have too many cars (china)
sexybeastofkonoha 1 year ago
@turkzil obviously this isn't the type of vehicle for a hunter, its a concept car to meet the growing problem of increasing urbanization. don't worry, you wont have to drive one.

Between this and the solar sails that are planned to be released in 2011, K. A. Applegate's book series "Remnants" is strikingly prophetic. Which isn't a good thing, as the first book begins with the destruction of the Earth by a giant asteroid.

electric cars have higher efficiency
less co2 emissions even with power from coal source
walou71 1 year ago
LOOOOLLL
GM rep: "It's an electric vehicle, which means it creates zero emissions and it can run on renewable energy"
translation: "THIS VEHICLE HAS ZERO EMISSIONS, BUT THAT ISN'T THE CASE FOR THE COAL FIRED POWER PLANT DOWN THE BLOCK, and it can potentially run on a charging station where electricity is generated from wind-turbines or solar panels -- but those don't even exist today anyways."

lol yea wuts up with the whispering and it's sucks that most concepts never make it out.. or make it out lookin like their drawn
drew88881 1 year ago
he's whispering so as to not wake the car up.
looks like a decent concept. the only thing is the lack of versatility as far as top speed. the concepts that "lie down" more flat as they speed up seem to tackle this problem. maybe add a third wheel to accomplish this. can still drive slowly and park upright.

@TheTampTalks LOL!
3089280288 1 year ago
I find this diffident man talking in a barely audible volume about his silly-looking little vehicle rather annoying.
However, I think the concept has great potential. Although it looks like it might be fun to ride in, I don't think I want people staring at me sitting in it. The windows need to be made of maybe something like photochromic glass with a reflective coating for privacy.
I can see these being popular for night clubbing, allowing people to drink without having to drive.

@veprii Honestly, Pontiac, Cadillac, Onstar and their development side and I could SOO have a profitable company, overnight.
A) Unionless
B) talk with Ford for cross licensing with Sync and Onstar
C) work on ruggedized electric vehicles. Longer battery life (not just amount of stored power but more time before needing replacement).
+ Other..
Anyone got $1 Billion I can barrow?

you just know this guy is a sales rep, his excitement about this product is off the hook, I just want to take my shirt off and dance and call up my congress woman and tell her to send GM a bunch of cash to make this, In my opinion this car is for old people , like the honda element( elderment) but dude, how will the targeted market hear anything with this guy, by the way this thing looks so freaken slow, I think Ill take a walk, will do more good and I can carry more stuff,

I think this is a GREAT idea, however it will never fully be accepted in urban or any environment because people will not give up the experience of driving. People will always want to drive fast, have muscle cars, ride Harleys, throw spoilers on Honda Civics, etc.

@dontclickprofile Although, It looks like instant death in a pile up and even some average wrecks. Imagine glass flying at you from everywhere in a mass of confusion. Mean while the world is flipping and smashing around you at 70 miles an hour. In a matter of moments your left lying their watching the truck that's barely even scratched pass you by.

but i think the idea is to get everyone driving cars similar to this w/ the sensors and what not thatll keep accidents from happening too often
