It isn't. The only similarity is the zombies run. 28 days later they aren't even zombies, they are just rage infected humans who would in reality dehydrate long before they starve as the movie shows. In this they are reanimated dead, which means they don't have to worry about starvation too much and dehydration like the 28 days later rage infected humans do. Completely different ideas and story expressed in this.
