  • Hi Sonny, ......Great song. I sent you a e-mail about this song. Can you help me, please. .....Magda from the Netherlands.

  • I found this recording is made by Pantja Warna Keroncong Ensemble.

  • Great video! Terang Bulan was the favourite song of my brother in law.

This song was played at his funeral.

To hear this song again brings tears to my eyes!

  • NICE KERONCONG SONG ! ! !

  • so sweet...a mother is the heart of our world!

  • MAMULA MOON video also available in YOUTUBE, download it before they delete it....

  • People said that this song and music was originally wrote by a 19th century French poet and composer Pierre Jean de Beranger, then the Hawaiian folk song version (island tunes) called MAMULA MOON performed by Felix Mendelson & "The Hawaiian Serenades" at the old State Cinema in Grays Essex in the 1930's. Just Google or searh in Yahoo for the title "MAMULA MOON"....so now, who were the copycats?

  • in essence, as long as a song is sung and the melody kept alive...I personally love it when a song has a diverse history

  • Any English or Dutch version of this classic song?

  • @sikurombi

The moon is shining, moon shine reflects on the river

Floating crocodile thought to be dead

    Don't believe man's word

Dare to pledge, but afraid of dying

De maan schijnt, de maan schijnt over de rivier

De krokodil drijft, je zou denken dat hij dood is.

Geloof niet dat wat een man je zegt.

Ze durven van alles te zweren, maar zijn bang om dood te gaan.

    lol!!

  • "brani sumpah , tapi takut mati...."

men are no hero's, are they...;-))...

I think this the Malaysian anthem

  • This is the same melody as the anthem. I think that's why it's forbidden in Malaysia :(

  • is it banned in malaysia, really? because of that?

btw, nice pictures of your mom.

  • @Fattaman it is not forbidden in Malaysia but in Indonesia. Pres. Soekarno at that time find out that the song (Indonesian composed lyrics, circa 1940) has been adapted into Malaysian National Anthem. Before that there is a song called Mamula Moon (1947). Earliest recorded history of this song is in Perak as the State's anthem where the name is also Terang Bulan, but different lyrics. It is composed by a french, Pierre Jean de Beranger (1780-1857).

  • Thanks for this information. Indonesia must be a weird country. XD

  • No worries.

  • nice video
