I'm going to give this list a thumbs down. Not entirely, but really.... it seems like it's written by a Playstation fan who didn't like the Saturn all that much. Putting Resident Evil, Castlevania and Tomb Raider on there? Yuck. And failing to mention the amazing 2-d fighters on Saturn, like Marvel Super Heroes, Nightwarriors, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and (if you're going to allow imports, and they mentioned Radiant Silvergun so why not) X-Men vs Street Fighter? Weak, weak list.
The only subpar fighter in Loggo's list is Fighters Megamix in my oppinion, fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter where both important games for Saturn, but Megamix was just a "mix" of these two.
If it was me I would put Street Fighter Alpha 2 instead of Megamix.
It's only a top 20 list in the end, you can't list every fighting game of Saturn :)
@GamersOdyssey Sure they were important, but that doesn't necessarily qualify them as good (this is a top games list after all). Then again if it's not your list, I suppose no use complaining to you about it.
Tomb Raider was a ground-breaking title, back in 1996. It definitely deserves to be in any Top 20 Sega Saturn list, even though it's not exclusive to the Saturn console...
damn dude, if you think these are the 20 best Saturn games then I think you better start importing more games. Your really scraping the bottom of the barrel here...
@GamersOdyssey Thanks. I never played the Catlevania games before Portrait of Ruin on DS, and I'm curious about SotN because everyone loves it. As much as I like Sega, though, I figured it probably wasn't the best version--the Saturn was notoriously dificult for third-parties to develop games for.
@EkajTheSwordsman Prefer the Saturn version myself. Sound quality was better and had along with the 2 exclusive areas, extra character, items and weapons, it had a couple of extra soundtracks aswell including 2 takes on the brilliant 'Bloody Tears' track. It does have a bit of slow down when things get busy on screen, but that matters not when the game itself is so much better than the PS version.
Also... graphics and sound were not 'crappy' on the extra areas. They were no different.
Sorry but Saturn's version of Vampire Killer is the worst version of all Vanias, also the 2 extra areas graphics were poorly and badly designed so yeah it was crappy, you don't have to take my word for it, just watch some videos on youtube.
Even Igarashi himself didn't like that version, its not saturn's fault really, it's just a bad port with hastely designed extras.
We all know that Saturn could do a lot better than Playstation on 2D graphics so they did screw this up real bad
I think the Sega Saturn's graphics are still good looking till this day. Yes they are blocky compared to today's graphics but they still rock. I love my Sega Saturn and I hope to get some more games for it soon. Long live the Saturn greatest console of all time bro.
i love sega,mega drive was great,saturn was great and the dreamcast too! and now we have Wii,xbox,and playstation but no sega console :( . (sorry for my english )
Panzer Dragoon Saga was an excellent and unique title in pretty much every way possible, but it certainly didn’t do anything revolutionary. On the other hand, Sega Rally was more than an excellent game. It literally changed the racing genre forever. From the inclusion of realistic physics, to the different road surfaces and friction properties, that changed the car's handling accordingly, Sega Rally was a true landmark for the medium.

@SuperHydroThunder
It's written by a person who is fan of games rather than consoles.
Also it's not a fighting game list, I don't think that it would do justice to the console to start listing games from only 1 genre as it's top 20.
Resident Evil, Castlevania and Tomb Raider were amazing games and some of Saturn's top, so they have earned their place in this top 20.

@GamersOdyssey sorry but you did miss some of the better fighters and included a couple subpar 3d fighters in the list

I need to play Worldwide Soccer 98, animations and ball physics looks way better than Winning Eleven 2002 from PSOne.

Some dodgy entries on that list like Tomb Raider and that football game, but at least the might Sega Rally came out on top!

Is SotN better on Saturn or Playstation, and why?
EkajTheSwordsman 5 months ago
@EkajTheSwordsman
The Saturn version has 2 extra areas and 1 extra secret character, but the playstation version is the better one overall.
The extra areas on Saturn have very crappy graphics and music (horrible quality) and the loading times take forever to finish.

Castlevania SOTN is easily the best out of all of them with Order of Ecclesia coming second and Arria of Sorrow on GBA third.

nice list and i can overlook that you never played wachenroeder [you can beat it without knowing jap. in the end you understan why you had to fight]
but no Grandia? srsly? i know its your list but grandia was the holy grail of saturn rpg`s [prefer the saturn over the psx version, its smoother]

@KilanoProject2
I'd say that Panzer dragoon is the RPG grail of Saturn.
I have played Grandia and while a good RPG, it wasn't difinitive of he platform IMO especialy if it's a multiplatform game.

Thanks Monacomaverick!
Both Sega Rally and Saga were excellent games, the only reason I placed Sega Rally above Saga was that, apart from excellent, was also revolutionary.
The name of the second track is “Kinetic Harvest”.

@GamersOdyssey In what way was Sega Rally Championship more revolutionary than Panzer Dragoon Saga?
