Try using some more body weight in your strikes (not too much oc), it's generates power without draining your energy all too quick. Way to go for trying out a different style though!
When I was younger I did karate for 7 years and then moved to muay Thai and have been doing so for 6 years and I preffer it so much that when I'm older I'm gonna start teaching intact I've already taken my first class a few weeks ago :) did I mention I'm only 17?
hey i train karate and want to try muay thai as well.. how long did you train karate for? do you train for both now? i watched a muay thai tournament and noticed that they do a lot of low kicks
Cool...you're just about where I am. I look *so much* like this on the heavy bag. Boxing is a little better offensively, a little worse defensively...better front leg roundhouses, equivalent rear leg roundhouses, slightly worse spinning kicks...better flying knee, slightly more consistent leg kicks, slightly worse side kicks...
not bad. i got some contructive criticism. work out with a weights program like crossfit or something to get ur conditioning WAY up then ull be powerful.
employ pose method of movement in ur arsenal and ull execute perfect technique.
Even if I don't practice muay thai, i can see you are not ready to defend yourself in this video, and you don't use any Jin. You should take a look at WCL aka Chuck Norris' World Combat League. You will understand a lot of things watching theses fighters doing 100 mistakes lol =)
and I have a lot of respect for muay thai. I am sure the day you gonna find an instructor to teach you about Jin and some other stuff like Chi, you gonna become a strong and wonderful fighter.
@senos64 I think he has a point. Your kicks and especially your punches are shallow. There's no follow through, if you terminate the kick or punch upon contact, it will be relatively weaker. Think about how a batter or golfer hits a ball, if the swing terminates upon contact, alot of the power is lost.
Not bad for a Karate guy. When you throw the 1-2, you're "rolling" the recovery. ie you're not snapping them straight back to your face which leaves you open for counters. You also have a tendency to push your punches, which is noticeable because the bag is moving all over the place. The punches that hurt the most are those that connect and snap right back, like a whip. Love some of the kicks though. You definitely have some flexibility. Found this on Sherdog.

You look slow, and the thing that makes you slow (if you had to compete in muay thai) is that you switch stances. (too often)

And what martial art do you practice by the way, if you even do pratice anything.
So many internet warriors on here that I can't take people seriously.

a style of traditional southern kung fu, with a real hard sifu.

Then there is no point in pointing out flaws on my video when you are not familiar with Muay Thai.
Different stances and different techniques. No Hollywood kung fu stuff here.
I am sure you are good at what you do, but it's not Muay Thai.
