  • thank you for all your hard work and your videos, they are really informative and im also working on becoming a web designer, everyday i try to put at least an 1 hr to learn on my own and on the week ends besides from relaxing a bit and doing the house chores, i spend most of my time learning web designing

  • First it was a personal web page fad, then the blogging fad, now it's the Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter social networking fad...all fads...99.99 percent of which produce no real revenue. Just people going yak...yak...yak...about the same stuff.

  • Hi @mlwebco, what's your opinion about flash websites? Are still developing with this tecnology?

  • @dodudu2005 Flash is still valid for many reasons. As a designer, you have to try to focus on certain areas and I tend to focus on clean simple interfaces, html, css, etc. Flash is needed in many cases like entertainment sites, movie sites, games, creative interactive agency sites. But for the everyday business case, it's not really needed. You can get by with XHTML, CSS, and Jquery, etc. oh, and HTML5.

  • I saw your videos are very useful. thanks. an idea for a video that I ever wanted to see what advice I gave you a beginner web designer. the computer to use with the requirements for web design.

  • @GodfatherMaxi thanks for the idea, will put a video out on this topic.

  • Your tutorials are easier to follow than anybody else's on YouTube. I'm trying to go from mock-up in Fireworks to HTML in Dreamweaver using your video, but can't find any tutorials on how to bring my Fireworks created drop down menu over to Dreamweaver. Do you know of any tutorials that might be useful to me? Thanks again for your videos, nice of you to share your tremendous talent.

  • @dpeterse Lynda dot com is a great site that goes into more detail which is where I learned many years ago. I would check out Lynda (dot) com.

  • I'm currently working on a portfolio page but no matter what design I choose I'm never satisfied, would you be interested in giving me a second opinion on a design I'm working on?

  • Your absolutely right, Im suffering from this dilemma now. thanks for the wake up. Although i knew it was a problem, just needed some confirmation.

  • @MrEzlyfe ... been there... we've all been there. :)

  • I agree with everything that you've said in your videos :)

  • Really nice video man. Great info. What car do you have? Just wonderin..

  • Great video Mike! I couldn't agree more with you. I personally think Twitter and Facebook are a waist of time altogether. I love forum marketing the most :)

I'm about to advertise web design and web hosting services locally as well as online in the next couple of weeks and am creating a .co.uk version of my website targeted at my local area. Once I'm done would you mind taking a quick look? If you could that would be a huge help. I won't be finished for another couple of weeks yet though.

  • to update your blog im assuming you do it thru dreamweaver or whichover program u used right?

  • @RoB201 No, dreamweaver would only be used to update the code, design on my site, not for updating the blog. For blogging, I use WordPress which comes with it's own admin (content management section). Look into WordPress, very easy to get started with it, and keep up-to-date. Tumblr is very popular and growing also. Tumblr allows you to post updates from your phone, etc.

  • I don't use FB nor Twitter. I am in Commercial Real Estate and with my clients those social networks does not have a place. I am sure I would loose a few clients if I went that route. When they are buying shopping malls I am sure they would not like an update via twitter.

I am learning Web Design and I do spend a lot of time on forums and youtube learning...but just posting unnecessary updates on FB & Twitter nahhhhh.

  • @pakt40 Totally agree. For ex: If I met you somewhere and you handed me your business card, etc. ...when the time comes that I'm possibly interested in doing business with you, it would be ideal if I could visit your website and learn more about you, your thoughts, personality, expertise on the industry, etc. This is where a blog is valuable in your field. Even if no one reads it, it's so valuable for those random situations that helps builds trust, biz relationships.
