RIM employees donate through payroll deduction to many charities; participate in food bank challenges, toy drives; lend their time to help out as volunteers for WE day, provide learning opportunities for local teachers and students and more. It is great that RIM gives back to our community, it's great that we have IQC, PI and CIGI thanks to Jim and Mike. The reality is that RIM is challenged by the stock market to be competitive and innovative. They can't sustain themselves by being charitable, but it is appreciated.

The market has lost faith, they have failed to penetrate the consumer market, and their business customers are leaving (Dell is replacing 30,000 BB's with Windows phones for staff.)

I hope 2012 is a successful year.

Nicely done! In my opinion, false negative public perception of who RIM is as a company has been blown way out of proportion and become many people's reality which creates a nasty tailspin of financial chaos. Sure, RIM could improve in areas as could Apple and Google and other but they still have unique qualities that continue to separate themselves. After dominating the enterprise space for years, it makes sense that the playing field levels out and competition drives innovation forward.

Alright it's great that RIM has supported this community but the lack of vision or focus in recent years has put the companies future into question. I have seen many bbm users ditch the BlackBerry simply because it cant do a fraction of what other iOS & Android phones can do. Ever since Android and iOS came up with so high end devices they totally forget there is a market of people that wishes to have an smartphone but there is no 3G (only Edge) or they cannot afford to buy an iPhone. Blackberry does something great, they have this global strategy that involves everybody by having entry level smartphones, cheap and still with all the basic smartphone capabilities.
