Initially, wal-mart sold only American made products as was Sam Walton's vision. Later Vendors say their products were stored in wal-mart warehouses and they would not receive any money until 30 days after it sold off of wal mart shelves. This is a huge reason why American made products are not sold NOW. Essentially, the beastard kids played a big part in putting America out of business. Everywhere there's a wal- mart a small town has gone out of business and job loss has increased. DUH!!

I worked exactly 1 year as a cart pusher and during the winter it got 40 below zero and Walmart treats employees so shity that all the cart pushers had to be outside at all times. When ever I did walk inside if they knew they would call me in the office and tell me I belong outside.

Now, years later, I notice that my house is no longer full of cheap plastic junk, the clothes I own are nicer, and the food I eat is better. I went to Wall Mart & the Duracell hearing aid batteries were 50% off, I had several coupons worth 50% off with no limit & good for sale items too, on the same batteries. I got every pack on the shelf & the ones in back for FREE! Normally $16.49 - 4 ea Pack. Then I gave them away to Senior Citizens @ the Senior Center; well telling them how Wall Mart out sources jobs. How do they keep prices so low? I have no idea but I need one of those bar trackers to help with my shopping. I went to Wall Mart & the Duracell hearing aid batteries were 50% off, I had several coupons worth 50% off with no limit & good for sale items too, on the same batteries. I got every pack on the shelf & the ones in back for FREE! Normally $16.49 - 4 ea Pack. Then I gave them away to Senior Citizens @ the Senior Center; well telling them how Wall Mart out sources jobs. Thanks Wall Mart.

kidjr27 In the real world, it is all about making money and it all about business as many tries to compete against Wal-Mart and sadly many of such retail business will go out of business, such as Sears, Dillards, Kohls, Maycey's, JC Pennies, and any other major retailer. The main problem is labor cost and Wal-Mart controls the labor cost as the other retailers pays too much on labor cost and benefits.

My heart goes out to the people that work at walmart. They get paid shit,work their asses off and have to deal with ghetto, disrespectful trash of all sorts of shapes and colors, on a daily basis. They deserve better pay. I mean they have to shuffle through shit customers all day.
I shop there rarely. I try to avoid it because of the customers is attracts. You just walk around for 5 minutes and you feel like you're about to be shot or robbed. It's worse than New York alleyways at nighttime.

@ortafunk There's a chain of command. There's corporate, that make the rules, and the workers who follow them. Doesn't make a difference what you say, the workers can't do shit about it. They have to follow protocol. Sometimes the management has leeway to make decisions on their own, but only to a certain extent. Something as expensive as a washing machine, might be out of their hands.
If you complained, corporate would just ignore you and laugh. You should be mad at them, not the workers.

When you enter, the spirit in the store is so oppressive. It is so bad that I can't stand to shop there for very long. The employees don't like it there because they are always afraid for their job. I know many who used to work there that will no longer shop there, they hate it. Can't wait until somebody puts them out of business.

Wal mart "save money live better"-when many items are not cheaper than the mom and pop shops. If a few items are cheaper milk, eggs, meat, and a few toys then they can convince everyone that every item is cheaper. They take huge profits from doing this and have the ability to pour more money in advertising and public relations.

The reason that Walmart does so well is because their costs are so low and they can sell for a lower price. That means more consumer surplus (the benefit YOU, the consumer, receive beyond what you paid for). They can do this because of an economics concept called "economies of scale". Economies of scale means that in some industries, the more that you produce (up to a certain point) the lower your Average Total Cost will be.
