I have a studio 1558 and I got the Blu-Ray with it...and it plays one of my 10 Blu-Rays I have. I tried updating my firmware and its stoped playin the one that worked
The build quality of this Dell laptop is really crap. Mine is falling apart at the hinge (which is very weak because of the design) this has led to the lid cracking where it is attached to the hinge and so it has become wobbly. Then the power button broke because it was linked to the faulty hinge. This laptop will not last you long because Dell use cheap quality parts. This happened a year after purchase (just outside warranty) so I had to pay to get it fixed. Another year later, same problems.
@tahaadamji i have the same problem i was looking into it and found this vid worthless design i'm currently looking for a new laptop... studio's design sucks but all in all they have a good system and mechanics
I have one of these, and I stupidly put my SD card in my optical Drive, has anyone else done this, I feel so stupid !!! .youtube.com/watch?v=ZqXHyDvC_HQ
Just ordered mine: Windows 7 premium Blue midnight color Backlit keyboard 4gb ram Intel i3 (the 2.26 one) 320gb hard drive Roxio dvd burner Microsoft office home and student 3yr of mccafee 3yr warranty + accidents warranty
@Brandooooooooooo its capable to use on your lap. the left side gets a little hot but not too bad. and the area of the touch pad and around it get kinda warm, enough to make the bottoms of your palms a little sweaty, but again, its managable. there is a 'ledge' on the back which i suppose is meant to prop it up, which is nice but a little difficult when youre moving it from place to place. a few bugs but i have one of the first edition models so its probably just me.
Do your fingers pound down on the keyboard like sledgehammers? That is the only way I could see the keyboard flex bothering you. I don't even notice it.
Just order 1 with the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2GHz, 800MHz, 2MB) and the 512 MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4570 then your doing just fine for not to much money. I can't wait to receive mine.
I got HP DV5t Intel Core 2 duo 2.0Ghz 3GB Ram Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit Intel GMA 4500MHD My Keyboard does the same thing but my system over heats and it done took out the system board once . But HP fix up for nothing and then my battery got so hot it burnt up had a lot trouble getting it Replaced. So far it been a good notebook bit i really don't like HP now thank for posting this i might get dell Studio notebook now
Hello, thanks for the review. I'm thinking about buying one dell studio 15, currently I have an inspiron wich I bought ages ago. I just can have a laptop which will be also suitable for gaming. Regarding your comment about the keyboard; was it really anoying or did you get use to it when typing? And one last thing, what did you get rid of this computer?
I have ordered an 1555 model which is arriving in a couple of days. I'm glad I'm getting it cause now I'm stuck with my good old desktop which is getting pretty old. Thanks for the video dude :).
I am referring to the area where the media controls used to be; what is there now? speakers? Buttons? I am glad the 1555 is > the 1535; if it wasn't, Dell would be still be marketing faulty equipment.
(always reply by clicking reply.. didn't even know you wrote something for me).. btw, i tried looking closely at your laptop to see the difference b/w your and my lappy, and instead of touch-sens. buttons, there's nothing but the my speaker area seems twice as large. Maybe the speakers are upgraded on 1555. Because they're clearly one of the best speakers i've seen on a laptop yet. Loud and clear.
hey! great review.. I actually looked at this before buying my own Dell studio 15 and MAN THEY HAVE MADE SOME CHANGES.. I just unboxed mine today.. NO KEYBOARD FLEX AT ALL and the wifi switch is NOW ACTUALLY A KEY ON THE KEYBOARD.. that's what I've noticed so far.. QUESTION: Does your laptop get HOT around the touchpad area? I haven't played any games yet and its a bit warm. Please answer
I got rid of this laptop a while ago, so in all honesty I can't recall whether or not the touchpad got hot. Now, I have an Inspiron 1318 and yes, the touch pad does get rather warm, but not hot. I reviewed this laptop as well if you are interested. Take care
lol.. "got rid".. anyhoo, I just realized what you've reviewed is Dell 1535 and what I have is 1555. Both come under Dell Studio 15 somehow. So far, I'm having no issues whatsoever.. the touchpad DID get warm but I installed Far Cry2(which ran AMAZINGLY WELL) and the temperature did not increase.. Its WARM at max. I'm extremely happy so far.
btw.. I would recommend Dell Studio 15(1555 NOT 1535) TO ANYONE WHO'S LOOKING FOR PERFORMANCE + AWESOMENESS IN A LAPTOP. I was skeptical spending a grand on this laptop(including tax), but no complaints now.
I looked at the Studio 1555 in best buy, they're nice, but what I didn't like was the big open area where the media controls used to be. I think it may have been the battery, but it looked like a big rectangular chunk of plastic. Is this how all the new studios are, or just the one I saw?
i am thankful 1555 doesn't have any touch-sensitive buttons.. the horror stories i've heard about them. Till I unpacked my Dell I thought i had touch-sensitive controls, but weren't ON :) I didn't even want to turn them on because I heard the F*** up your laptop. Until I realized what was going on. About the BIG chunk.. what big chunk? This bitch is as sleek as it gets. 5/5.. GAMING PERFORMANCE: the best you can get for the price(i have 256MB ATI 4570). 1555 > 1535 easily.
as I said, none of the cons you mentioned exist either.. i TRIED pushing the keyboard, NO FLEX.. Speakers are really good compared to my Dell Latitude and Inspirons. Maybe they're crap in 1535? I mean they are no mega speakers but definitely I couldn't expect better on a laptop.
@jawedib i was palying the grand thefta auto on my dell and te system scrashd down .. when i try to enter my password the keyboard wouldn't write anything.. i don't know what to do
@nikolamajstorII.. Oh crap.. I wouldn't panic if the system is under warranty. Get it checked from the Dell people. I've seen people haggle and get new laptops entirely! :) Anyhoo, so you just cannot start your computer anymore? Also, were you allowing for ventilation? Laptops aren't for gaming (in terms of latest games, even if its Alienware). THEY GET HOT AND THAT CAN SCREW IT UP.
@nikolamajstorII.. contd: I play games normally on a flat table and keep a plastic cd case under one end of the laptop so there's plenty breathing space for the laptop's base too.
I just got mine a few days ago, its the 1555 its a very good laptop, it comes with vista sp1 and its fast, no problems for now! and also the speakers are not bad!
I must say it is extremely hard to find descent reviews of the Studio 15.....to answer OhwowOhwow questions about the fan....it is great very quiet and you can hardly hear it when it kicks in over backround sound....but still really quiet....the mouse pad on the studio 15 is FAR better then the Studio 17...the 17's mouse pad over heats and it gets so fricken hot.....its terrible, and very anoying
Ok is it just me or does the wireless internet for this laptop not work please someone help me I cnat find out the problem my brothers computer connects to our router but not mines
no it doesnt blink when the laptop is on, u just hold down the button (left side, round hinge button) and a window will open showing all available wireless networks, the only time it blinks is when the laptop is off and u use it to find out if there are networks b4 u turn ur laptop on. in that case it blinks a few times and stays solid for like 10 seconds to let you kno that there is a wireless network available.
AND a friend of mine has so many MORE problems, i'll add to your list:
Battery runs at a temperature that may boil water.
CPU was running idle at 95 degrees celcius.
His replacement has a malfunctioning CPU, which will go from 1% use to 100% and back down again within half a second. This doesnt stop. Windows is not corrupted either.
Wireless card sucks.
Battery wouldnt charge.
Battery discharged in 30 minutes from full to empty.
What do you mean with HD speakers cos mine are realy crappy. the volume for the earphones has to be very low and the volume for the speakers up high. Do you have any solution??
yeah thats the problem cuz i reinstalled my laptop once and the driver for the speakers are called Hd something
Oh and i think the problem for your earphones are take the ear phones and stick it in the mic jack and something will pop up and then take it out and put it again in the earphone jack and adjust the volume from the thing that pop up.
also, my condolences you chose this laptop. Mine has been a complete piece of shit..it's currently at dell getting a hinge replacement (you should watch those, they're unbelievably flimsy) and a full system restore. The system restore is apparently going to fix my trackpad (also a piece of shit) but it ultimately wont, because it's hardware that's the problem, not software.
u r 100% right. the trackpad for my dell studio 17 is a piece of shit. i need to use a broken mouse. n the video card sucks! the one thing i wanted out of this laptop and it doesnt work! i do fell your pain.i regret spending 1500$ for it.
and now whenever I boot up my computer the eject button stays on for like 2 min. and the disc eater makes this really weird noise. As for the speakers, I called dell and they tried downloading this patch up for me but it still didn't fix it so they are sending a tech to replace the speakers. Hopefully it will fix this
My review over this would be sum wat similar. i only have 2 complain about the touch sensitive media interface keys at the top and the speakers on this. Speakers distort quite bad with mid-high volume and the touch buttons at the top are near impossible to make out in the dark or day which is bad if u are watching family guy on Hulu at 12a.m. or on youtube which becomes very annoying having 2 turn on a light 2 higher/lower the volume. Other than that, it is def. a very good laptop. well worth it
what date did you get this laptop? because im geting a studio 15 soon and there is a new one thats just came out and im not sure if thats the old or new one that you have?
Ultimately, a refund. For a few weeks I had an XPS M1530, but It was somewhat poorly constructed and too bulky for my tastes.. I prefer smaller laptops (10"-13.3") for portability
I have the eject button thing, where at start up, it stays lit for 10 minutes, it's pretty annoying, sometimes REALLY annoying LOL. I like the laptop; i got the sea sky design, so it looks really cool...the webcam is okay :) i didnt get the fingerprint reader either, waste of money :) nice review
I am thinking of getting one. My only gaming need is Counter-Strike 1.6 for some oldschool fun, do you have any idea if the ATI mobile 3450 card will run at maximum (100) framerate in CS 1.6?
Also, it looks like you got the wled display, how does that work for you in daylight?
Smart review! ONe question though, I've heard that the case sometimes has gaps in it or they say the case is just not very sturdy. Is that the case with yours?
I think that the pros outweigh the cons, so yes, this is a decent machine. Plus, Dell is now allowing you to completely customize the design on the outside; another option that wasn't available at the time I made this.
Hey im considering ordering the studio 15 here pretty soon and i've been hearing that the sound might not be too good, i was waundering if you have had this problem. If not did you upgrade the sound card?
The sound on my laptop was just fine and no, I did not upgrade the sound card. I think people are just used to hearing sound emanate from other sources (i Pods, car stereo, desktop PC's), all of which being able to produce better sound quality than a laptop's tiny, cost-effective speakers. I found that using a pair of headphones worked absolute wonders If you want stellar sound quality keep researching. Take care
As the video said, there are some problems with the media controls. Tried watching a dvd, the volume turned all the way up and then it ejected the dvd. Then the controls worked fine until I started it up again. Arrgh! Also common are webcam problems (Not sure what studio models)
I think your 1535's keyboard was installed improperly or came lose somehow. I say this because I have the same laptop as you, but my 1535's keyboard doesn't flux, even when i type on the keys hard.
I have one of them too, Dell Studio1535 my friend GAMEREVIEWS365 has the same thing and he's gona do a full review of this computer so ya, i hade some MAJOR hard drive probs after a couple months, so i had to send it to dell, their working on it right now, shud be bak in bout half a month.
Nice review - I agree with all the pros and cons - I got one for the wife as a Christmas present. Set it up and surprised her with it today. Everything was great until she unplugged the power with the unit powered up. It locked up and continues to do it regardless of the situation. I did a factory restore to no avail. It locks up every time. How embarrasing. No solution from Dell support. Waiting for the 27th to raise some heck about this. Not impressed.
Shoulda got a MacBook! I have a MacBook and tried talking my wife into a Mac but she insisted on this Dell. Mac's are far superior to any Windows based computer, laptop or desktop. I have 2 Mac's in total and never had either one crash or get infected and I dont even run anti-virus software.
lol the only reason macs don't have much viruses is because there aren't many mac users..i heard macs have wayy too much problems. and their price is way off. almost 2 times of other laptops with same specs(dell, vaio, samsung, lenovo)
3 days after Christmas already problems with the Dell......Windows Vista really sucks. Had to update bios and numerous drivers. Keep getting a sound driver error and Dell cant find anything wrong. Putting it to sleep causes it to go into a coma. It will not wake up. We have to hibernate it in order to put it down for a while without powering it all the way down. Never had 1 problem with my Macs after years of use. Like I said before, I shoulda got her a Mac instead of the Dell she wanted.
hey i had read a lot of reviews about studio 15. I heard that whenever there is an auto update it would crashed and blue screen. I also brought a studio 15 and this is a big convern for me and i heard the speaker is really low. did it happen to you?
and if so...which would you recommend getting...the dv5t or the studio 15?
I am stuck between those two models / companies
I have a dell right now.. but its breaking down in pretty much every hardware dept. and from your video..that keyboard flex looks to be pretty annoying..
i also have heard that the speakers on the studio suck.. true for you?
I have not researched the HP laptops in great depth. What I have read (I researched a lot) is that in the event of a system malfunction or defect, thier customer service is deplorable....absolutely horrible. This alone was enough to turn me away. The speakers on the Studio were relatively sub-par. Although, this was not an issue for me, as I do not use them enough to consider this as a deciding factor.
I Have the studio 15. The speakers are horrific. The speakers on my HP DV1049 are better. I think that the studio is an XPS with loads of cheap parts. Also the touchpad is terrible aswell.
i bought this dell and i previously owned an hp and i gotta say, i was much more satisfied with the HP(3 years ago). I so regret not buying the HP DVT5. PS: the dell's touchpad suck the most, i could live with the other minor issues but that just sucks, totally!
Good review. You said what I wanted to hear and that's the bang for your buck. So thanks for the review I'm getting this in a few weeks and wanted to, see what I'm in for and it looks like I'll be just fine.
I have this laptop and I hate it. It has this lovely "feature" of turning itself on whenever it feels like... including when it is in a zipped up book bag. I have the standard eject button issue and another "feature" of the USB controllers resetting.
good music i heard rise against :) am getting this laptop at xmas with the lumatied keybored does any one know how good it is when crysis and modern games tar
is this a good laptop like i probley wouldent really use the 'touch senitive' keys maybe playing games on it but would it be worth my money to get one as a beginner? i probley wouldent use it for anything else then homework or a few games. But please be honest. Thanks
yes, this is a very good laptop. Overall, I had no real quality issues (except for optical drive, which Dell was going to replace). This is a very good laptop for the money. Excellent choice for beginners. My replacement XPS M1530 by the way is top notch, no complaints here. Although, I am not quiet sure if the XPS (with current specs) constitutes a $400 price increase over the studio. The Studio 15 is a great choice, if you get a properly functioning optical drive,
I had to have my optical drive replaced too. It died 3 days after getting it. It took 5 weeks for them to get a replacement drive and get out to replace it. Be warned.
I am truly dissapointed with Dell. My new XPS M1530 looks like it was assembled in an earthquake. The rear vent and battery do not meet flush, they come together at an angle that resembles a very noticeable "V" shape. The LCD follows the bend, causing it to bow severely, and the keyboard has a huge hump in the center. I emailed Dell the pics and their response was, "it surley looks damaged." They are shipping me a replacement, if it is not up to par I will take my business elsewhere.
Just the charger, back up CD's for drivers, programs etc.. the "norm". BTW, I sent this laptop back to Dell. The touch sensitive media controls (Eject button) and optical drive started to pose problems. I am getting an XPS 1535 now.
I have the studio 17 and the eject button makes a massive noise yours makes non is there a way to quite that or is my machine faulty or bad

can anyone tell me do its wifi catcher blinks when lartop is on??? because i got this machine.
thedon003 2 years ago
no it doesnt blink when the laptop is on, u just hold down the button (left side, round hinge button) and a window will open showing all available wireless networks, the only time it blinks is when the laptop is off and u use it to find out if there are networks b4 u turn ur laptop on. in that case it blinks a few times and stays solid for like 10 seconds to let you kno that there is a wireless network available.
kennysmart662 2 years ago
theres some serious problems with it that u didnt quite mention
1. the back lid on the screen is extremely weak , if u press on the back of the lid it will ripple ur screen
2,. the sound is completely horrible on the system , dont know why it comes out all muffled
3. the graphics card is purposely undercclocked by quite a bit from the factory standard , courtesy of dell
other than that a perfect machine , a notch above everything else
shraggreg 2 years ago
AND a friend of mine has so many MORE problems, i'll add to your list:
Battery runs at a temperature that may boil water.
CPU was running idle at 95 degrees celcius.
His replacement has a malfunctioning CPU, which will go from 1% use to 100% and back down again within half a second. This doesnt stop. Windows is not corrupted either.
Wireless card sucks.
Battery wouldnt charge.
Battery discharged in 30 minutes from full to empty.

i have the same laptop and had allot of problems with it.
1st: whithin 2 weeks the screen just stop working sended back and they fixed it
2nd: same eject problem
3rd: This computer over heats fast and just shutdown
4th: and i know its not hardware but mine crashes every time
5th: the speakers are HD but volume is very low
MetalMonkeyStudios 2 years ago
What do you mean with HD speakers cos mine are realy crappy. the volume for the earphones has to be very low and the volume for the speakers up high. Do you have any solution??
The10GreatestEver 2 years ago
yeah thats the problem cuz i reinstalled my laptop once and the driver for the speakers are called Hd something
Oh and i think the problem for your earphones are take the ear phones and stick it in the mic jack and something will pop up and then take it out and put it again in the earphone jack and adjust the volume from the thing that pop up.

Finger print readers and facial recognition software are a total waste of money. I don't know why people even bother.

very true i also felt this dells spec 'for the money' is miles better than anything else out there
Macki243 2 years ago
the screen goes really bright
if you hold down "fn" and push the up and down keys you can change how bright it is
Olivia4501 2 years ago
Just realized you replaced it with an xps
COALslaw 2 years ago
lol @ 6.1 pounds being too heavy for your back.
also, my condolences you chose this laptop.
Anyways, good luck with your computer!
COALslaw 2 years ago
u r 100% right. the trackpad for my dell studio 17 is a piece of shit. i need to use a broken mouse. n the video card sucks! the one thing i wanted out of this laptop and it doesnt work! i do fell your pain.i regret spending 1500$ for it.
t33jtv 2 years ago
and now whenever I boot up my computer the eject button stays on for like 2 min. and the disc eater makes this really weird noise. As for the speakers, I called dell and they tried downloading this patch up for me but it still didn't fix it so they are sending a tech to replace the speakers. Hopefully it will fix this
partyboi911 2 years ago
My Dell Studio 15 does the same. all Dell said to me when i told them was they are going to come and pick it up.
Gsketch 2 years ago
my studio do taht same and + some keyboeard problem in GAME only
lookiSVK 2 years ago
My review over this would be sum wat similar. i only have 2 complain about the touch sensitive media interface keys at the top and the speakers on this. Speakers distort quite bad with mid-high volume and the touch buttons at the top are near impossible to make out in the dark or day which is bad if u are watching family guy on Hulu at 12a.m. or on youtube which becomes very annoying having 2 turn on a light 2 higher/lower the volume. Other than that, it is def. a very good laptop. well worth it
partyboi911 2 years ago
dude just uninstall the audio drivers and get vista to install its own, dramatic change, so much better

what date did you get this laptop? because im geting a studio 15 soon and there is a new one thats just came out and im not sure if thats the old or new one that you have?
S4Vii3 2 years ago
Did you send it back and get a refund or a replacement? I am so nosey.
user12119 2 years ago
Ultimately, a refund. For a few weeks I had an XPS M1530, but It was somewhat poorly constructed and too bulky for my tastes.. I prefer smaller laptops (10"-13.3") for portability
chrisbystereo 2 years ago
I have the eject button thing, where at start up, it stays lit for 10 minutes, it's pretty annoying, sometimes REALLY annoying LOL. I like the laptop; i got the sea sky design, so it looks really cool...the webcam is okay :) i didnt get the fingerprint reader either, waste of money :) nice review
SkenkBeg 2 years ago
I fixed it by putting tape on the ribbon cable over the eject pin/conductor.
user12119 2 years ago
Hey, nice review.
Thanks!

Smart review! ONe question though, I've heard that the case sometimes has gaps in it or they say the case is just not very sturdy. Is that the case with yours?
TheBarcan 3 years ago
after all is this a good laptop???
kirokw 3 years ago
I think that the pros outweigh the cons, so yes, this is a decent machine. Plus, Dell is now allowing you to completely customize the design on the outside; another option that wasn't available at the time I made this.

Hey im considering ordering the studio 15 here pretty soon and i've been hearing that the sound might not be too good, i was waundering if you have had this problem. If not did you upgrade the sound card?
Geebuv 3 years ago
The sound on my laptop was just fine and no, I did not upgrade the sound card. I think people are just used to hearing sound emanate from other sources (i Pods, car stereo, desktop PC's), all of which being able to produce better sound quality than a laptop's tiny, cost-effective speakers. I found that using a pair of headphones worked absolute wonders If you want stellar sound quality keep researching. Take care
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
As the video said, there are some problems with the media controls. Tried watching a dvd, the volume turned all the way up and then it ejected the dvd. Then the controls worked fine until I started it up again. Arrgh! Also common are webcam problems (Not sure what studio models)

was it always flexable or was it just from u typing to hard?
zexion65 3 years ago
The keyboard was always flexible. The remote for the express card slot can probably be ordered from Dell, you would just need the part #.
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
I think your 1535's keyboard was installed improperly or came lose somehow. I say this because I have the same laptop as you, but my 1535's keyboard doesn't flux, even when i type on the keys hard.
SainlessSagicorny 3 years ago
hey good review, do you know how to get the wireless remote that goes in the express card slot?

have you heard any updates on the eject button issue?

Not impressed.

get ubuntu and try that use wubbi to install it this way you don't errase windows...see if it's a vista issue

Tanker6667 3 years ago
lol the only reason macs don't have much viruses is because there aren't many mac users..i heard macs have wayy too much problems. and their price is way off. almost 2 times of other laptops with same specs(dell, vaio, samsung, lenovo)
UnitedAbominations69 3 years ago
3 days after Christmas already problems with the Dell......Windows Vista really sucks. Had to update bios and numerous drivers. Keep getting a sound driver error and Dell cant find anything wrong. Putting it to sleep causes it to go into a coma. It will not wake up. We have to hibernate it in order to put it down for a while without powering it all the way down. Never had 1 problem with my Macs after years of use. Like I said before, I shoulda got her a Mac instead of the Dell she wanted.
Tanker6667 3 years ago
tyvm for this review. it really helped

'definitely better than intel accelerator' there is a HUGE difference between those two graphic cards. the mobility HD 3450 owns the accelerator.

hey i had read a lot of reviews about studio 15. I heard that whenever there is an auto update it would crashed and blue screen. I also brought a studio 15 and this is a big convern for me and i heard the speaker is really low. did it happen to you?
AzNnC8 3 years ago
a question:
have you looked at the hp dv5t laptop?
and if so...which would you recommend getting...the dv5t or the studio 15?
I am stuck between those two models / companies
I have a dell right now.. but its breaking down in pretty much every hardware dept. and from your video..that keyboard flex looks to be pretty annoying..
i also have heard that the speakers on the studio suck.. true for you?
thanks for your reply back if you do reply..
carfan2k2 3 years ago
I have not researched the HP laptops in great depth. What I have read (I researched a lot) is that in the event of a system malfunction or defect, thier customer service is deplorable....absolutely horrible. This alone was enough to turn me away. The speakers on the Studio were relatively sub-par. Although, this was not an issue for me, as I do not use them enough to consider this as a deciding factor.
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
I Have the studio 15. The speakers are horrific. The speakers on my HP DV1049 are better. I think that the studio is an XPS with loads of cheap parts. Also the touchpad is terrible aswell.
MrPoulter 3 years ago
i so agree with you!!!1 HP rules!
w950 3 years ago
i bought this dell and i previously owned an hp and i gotta say, i was much more satisfied with the HP(3 years ago). I so regret not buying the HP DVT5. PS: the dell's touchpad suck the most, i could live with the other minor issues but that just sucks, totally!
w950 3 years ago
Good review. You said what I wanted to hear and that's the bang for your buck. So thanks for the review I'm getting this in a few weeks and wanted to, see what I'm in for and it looks like I'll be just fine.

I have this laptop and I hate it. It has this lovely "feature" of turning itself on whenever it feels like... including when it is in a zipped up book bag. I have the standard eject button issue and another "feature" of the USB controllers resetting.

is this a good laptop like i probley wouldent really use the 'touch senitive' keys maybe playing games on it but would it be worth my money to get one as a beginner? i probley wouldent use it for anything else then homework or a few games. But please be honest. Thanks
2Kute2BU 3 years ago
yes, this is a very good laptop. The Studio 15 is a great choice, if you get a properly functioning optical drive,
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
thanks
2Kute2BU 3 years ago
I had to have my optical drive replaced too. It died 3 days after getting it. It took 5 weeks for them to get a replacement drive and get out to replace it. Be warned.

Is xps better?
mike35714 3 years ago
so.. now that you have your XPS.. do you like it alot better..? with assurance of quality......
jackisbosss 3 years ago
I am truly dissapointed with Dell. My new XPS M1530 looks like it was assembled in an earthquake. The rear vent and battery do not meet flush, they come together at an angle that resembles a very noticeable "V" shape. The LCD follows the bend, causing it to bow severely, and the keyboard has a huge hump in the center. I emailed Dell the pics and their response was, "it surley looks damaged." They are shipping me a replacement, if it is not up to par I will take my business elsewhere.
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
is there anything you want to see in particualr? You understand I got rid of this laptop, correct?
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
I replaced this with the M1530 by paying the diiference. Studio 15 = $782 XPS M1530 = $1191. I paid $409 extra
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
oh ok, thanks
stuckinthepast 3 years ago
Just the charger, back up CD's for drivers, programs etc.. the "norm". BTW, I sent this laptop back to Dell. The touch sensitive media controls (Eject button) and optical drive started to pose problems. I am getting an XPS 1535 now.
chrisbystereo 3 years ago
How did you manage to get them to replace it with the XPS 1535?
