Her body has just been forced to stab the child she raised with love in her orphanage, and the way she's shaking, it looks like Ultimecia is having trouble keeping her emotions supressed, and in the zoom up on Edea's eye, it looks like she's crying. Poor Edea. :(

So basically, Ultimecia is trying to get Ellone to help her into the past. Edea (Cid's wife) is being possessed by Ultimecia. Edea isn't a bad person at all. Since Edea obviously has extreme power, she uses that to posses Seifer as well since he was a part of Edea's past. Ellone (Raines adopted daughter) has the ability to send anyone into the past for a short time. She often sends Squall and company into the past, back to when Laguna (Squall's father) and Raine (Squall's mother) reside.

same here! the first time i was playing the game, i thought she'd stay so i gave her all my most powerful spells. so, after she was gone, so were the spells! it was annoying, but i had to start the game all over again in the ragnarok part, so it didn't matter really. :P

Edea is probably my favorite Final Fantasy villain. She is one of the few who actually manages to look beautiful, and menacing at the same time. Most villains have such over the top designs its hard to take them seriously.
