on this side of the pond our old coastal fortresses are not doing so well - back in the 1990's, I was casual labour for a crew when they took an excavator and tore down a WWI 4" gun position with it. Tearing down historical fortresees is popular with the gov't morons we have here in Atlantic Canada. They love their paychecks, and they never cared about anything else.

Jeg anbefaler Lesund som ligger ved kystlinjen like utenfor Aure, Møre og Romsdal.

Der er det veldig mange bunkere, kanoner og hus som tyskerne lagde.

Det er også rester etter togskinner på påler i luften som tyskerne brukte til å frakte ting og fanger mellom bunkerne.

They simply fill the barrels with iron or concrete, which makes them unusable. We have these bunkers here in Holland, as the Germans made the Atlantik wall of these all the way down to Spain..2600km long. Only our military took the cannons out in 1945 and melted them into something else. :P

The guns was restored in th mid 90s. Flown in by chopper and mounted the same way they were in the 40s. Everything out here was destroyed in 45. If it was german, they blew it to pieces. Some of it is now restored. But everything is welded, so nothing works.

hvorfor dra til et sted der hulene er tettet. i Ny Hellesund er det meste av huler og bunkere åpne, og kanonene er satt tilbake i stillingene sine. selv lyskasteren er satt ut. ellers så kan man jo bare dra til Batterie vara som ligger på Møvik. det er bare et lite stykke unna, så det er mye å se i området. to åpne kystfort der det ene har verdens nest største landbaserte kanon. (var ihvertfall det.) bare hitler kanon er større. (1 tomme større)

Ok, now i understand...the french occupied norway and wanted to defend norway against the german liberators...;-) as it says in the description:Festung Norwegen, thats german for fortress norway, so i assume these are german guns.

Yes, it's a german fortress 30 minutes drive from where I live, and it was equipped with french 75mm guns, captured by the germans in france :)
