Their first and only line of defence is to BAN anyone, their is no form of discussion or form of communication available. This game is dated it shows. There has been no improvements to change the style of game play or introduce a viable option when the servers are empty, which occurs for about 20 hours of any given day. It will be a distant memory for anyone who plays the game.
@danleeca I do hear you on that. The staff are unprofessional and one in particular is particularly bad at it. But that's what you get with volunteers. I do wish Faustus demanded more professionalism from them but we don't pay anything for the game so we can't expect much either.

This game is on the older side; It was released on December 20, 2001. The graphics aren't the best but are quite decent. Gaming is awesome, more fun than other MMO's & it doesn't appear that you're grinding because it is fun. You can play 3 factions & switch around at will unless you join a fleet, then you play that one. The game will play well even on older systems.

I prefer eve online over this game. Anytime your placed in a bad situation and you want to jump out to safe your own skin you have to wait for some recharge time that only seems to recharge right when you need it most, it takes way to long. With eve you take about a few seconds and your out in no time. Eve is worth the money if you want a online space game.
@Morkintash I found that Eve took forever to jump. While your ship is taking two minutes to align for the jump, the enemy has time to blast you out of space. Also, just about everyone is going to have a device aboard their ship that makes it impossible to jump, you often can't anyway.
The biggest problem with Eve is that when your ship explodes, you lose everything, including the expensive items fitted to the ship. This can be millions of ISK & insurance doesn't come close to paying for it.
I played this game like 8 years ago, I really liked. Too bad I never get to fly those Dreadnought Class warships (I dun have to the money for premium service). But then again, I'll be satisfied flying a Battle Cruiser. (The biggest ship you can you when you play it for free)

@mrsparkle001 Actually, this is eve for the man who can't be arsed to wait 30 seconds to move an inch. This is much faster paced and action packed than EVE, but it shares a lot of similarities, particularly in combat.
Combat is one of the things DS doesn't share at all with EVE. In DS you're in direct control of your ship at all times, whereas EVE is much more like RTS combat.
You hold combat modules like in EVE, you click on the target and select the modules you want to fire like EVE, and you see if your guns kill the enemy first like EVE. Of course fleet battles are entirely different, as EVE is a metaverse, and fleet battles are a lot larger and more sophisticated than DS's fairly fast-paced and exciting ship combat.
Actually solo combat requires more attention to detail. In eve, at any given moment, you'll want to retreat or orbit at certain points or keep at range to maintain greater accuracy, etc., etc.

@mrsparkle001 EVE isnt a space mmorpg in ANY way, its a MMOE (E stands for economy, since basically all combat oriented ships are there to what? Cause MONETARY damages.)
As well as it is totally different gameplay, such as you get to dodge and fire rather then D&D/roll dice like how eve online horribly is. I don't understand the joy for eve online when you click a couple buttons and the rest is done via dice, gets mighty boring. Though eve online has graphics, thats really it.
I played this game for a little bit. The game is pretty much dead. Not sure why the developer doesn't just take it as a loss, and move on and create or work on new games....that people will play.
There's no trading or mining or anything. It's almost pure PvP. There will be a sort of bounty hunter system when the missions are reinstated. This game is like the FPS of online spaceship games.
I recommend the 30 day trail. The game isn't worth paying for and you get about as much out of it in 30 days as you ever will.
The servers are near-empty at all times. At most every day there's one or 2 one-sided-battles going on to take control of a planet.
The only fun part is bombarding planets and dropping troops onto them. The PVP aspect is horrible, the players spin around in 2d circles firing their guns at eachother until the newer player (always) loses. There is no 3d aspect.
deppends who you are, its not worth paying for if u have 20 hours a day to play something else and your the type who needs easy accomplishments to keep your interests peaked lol but if u like hte game why not pay, most would find it much more enjoyable in a dread then a frigate, not me i love my super frigate but dont try to decide for others what they think is worth paying for..go back to WoW and your hourly azz kissing achievments...

I tried the new version and it rocks. There's no more ship upgrading, it's automatic. You can easily switch certain items for other similar items, like one cannon type for another. And there's AI - lots of it! There's never nothing to do.
It's an old Video - Graphics have improved. And your right - EVE and DS are quite diferent but in DS you start fighting immedietaly instead of waiting for weeks...

This game is not gay. I am a Grand Admiral and a Beta tester for this game. I also play EVE and have over 16mil skill points. Both games have there unique status and both games are good. It is just to bad that I have to pay 25.00 a month to play both.
Unfortunately theres a temporary bug with the lobby, you need to rollback a redundant security update that can be found on the darkspace . net forums, explaining how and why
It's a universe where you can go anywhere, do anything, space is controlled by planets, and you can space by bombing and capturing neutral/enemy planets.. but be warned, if you try, you will be met with fierce combat. This video is only about the combat aspect, which is a large (but not consuming) aspect of this great game. It's a game of universal dominance, read up about it on the website darkspace . net and try the free trial, its a cheap subscription
Well it's free to demo. There's still a subscription fee, but it's only 9.99/month (or like how I do it, 50/6 months). You do get 2 weeks free when demoing though so you can experience prestige gain and pilot new ships.
Yeah I'm the little ICC frigate that got destroyed shortly after that clash between ICC and UGTO in the beginning of the movie. Lucky for me that scene didn't make the final cut :)

It's way different. It's all about pvp and piloting your ship in real time. Graphics are a bit dated but the game is a bit dated.

how does this game work , is it a universe and you go where every you want or is it an area time game where you join a channel and just fight?

It's a universe where you can go anywhere, do anything, space is controlled by planets, and you can space by bombing and capturing neutral/enemy planets.. but be warned, if you try, you will be met with fierce combat. This video is only about the combat aspect, which is a large (but not consuming) aspect of this great game. It's a game of universal dominance, read up about it on the website darkspace . net and try the free trial, its a cheap subscription

Might give this game a shot. Will have to wait and see how it goes. I didn't like Eve Online but I love Allegiance, so its a maybe.

Well it's free to demo. There's still a subscription fee, but it's only 9.99/month (or like how I do it, 50/6 months). You do get 2 weeks free when demoing though so you can experience prestige gain and pilot new ships.

Yeah I'm the little ICC frigate that got destroyed shortly after that clash between ICC and UGTO in the beginning of the movie. Lucky for me that scene didn't make the final cut :)
