I am a former Mormon, I was born and raised in the LDS Church and remained faithful until I was ostricised for not getting married in the temple. After leaving the church, I fealt mor hopeless than I did when I was in the church, and eventually became an atheist. Thankfully, after about 8 years of atheism, and a lifetime of hopelessness, I was introduced to the true and living God and His Son Jesus Christ. It's my understanding that not everyone knew about polygamy in the early days. It's my understanding that not all the LDS apostles knew at the time. It was hidden during the Nauvoo and early Salt Lake times. So when the publication came out, the writer of the pamphlets could have still not known of the secret practice. Thus, he wasn't lying because he simply wasn't informed.

Yes but my point was that the church cannot be hiding this information. It is freely available for all to read on the BYU website. All of Josephs wives are listed on Family Search. It's D&C section 101 verse 4 . It's in the 1835 and 1852 Editions of D&C and was used by Mormon Leaders to lie and deceive people (including LDS church members) about what they were doing. They had canonised a lie and used it.
In the 1876 edition of D&C it was removed. The edition you have is the 1876 one.

I think we just go in circles, it is an endless discussions. For the non-christians, read verses from the bible everyday, ponder it, then ask God (the author himself) if bible is true. I am a former Mormon, I was born and raised in the LDS Church and remained faithful until I was ostricised for not getting married in the temple. After leaving the church, I fealt mor hopeless than I did when I was in the church, and eventually became an atheist. Thankfully, after about 8 years of atheism, and a lifetime of hopelessness, I was introduced to the true and living God and His Son Jesus Christ. The REAL Jesus, not the one I was taught about as a child.

I find it interesting how so many people use the term "CULT" in reference to the Mormons or the LDS Church. Even more interesting when one learns what the actual definition of a cult is.... Depending on which Dictionary you consult, there are roughly 8 different interpretations of the word. Most of the interpretations could very well apply to ALL REGIONS. Or at least “a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.”

It's my understanding that not everyone knew about polygamy in the early days. It's my understanding that not all the LDS apostles knew at the time. It was hidden during the Nauvoo and early Salt Lake times. So when the publication came out, the writer of the pamphlets could have still not known of the secret practice. Thus, he wasn't lying because he simply wasn't informed.

Talmage (yes, the LDS apostle) put that "excess women" rumor to rest in the early 1900s. @hanypants Nowhere in LDS scriptures is there a command from God to stop practicing polygamy. Read the manifesto. God is not mentioned at all. The word "command" or "commandment" is not mentioned. The only thing mentioned is Wilford Woodruff's "advice." It's right there in black and white on the Church's website. If you read section 132 of the D&C the reason given for polygamy has nothing to do with anyone being killed in any wars. That rationale is pure urban legend.

If you think its ok to be deceived then don't worry about my videos. I post these for people who may be concerned that LDSleaders have a history of abysmal lying and deception and the church still behaves in a similar manner today.
It lied to me for two years about Joseph Smith being married and devoted to Emma.
Smith had loads of wives including a couple of 14 year olds.

@hanypants Polygamy is nothing to do with any war. It's church doctrine that Polygamy is the normal relationship in CK and that Elohim is a polygamist according to LDS Leaders. They even taught that Jesus is a polygamist to justify what they were doing and enforcing.
The LDS church still aranged polygamous marriages and sealings in its Temples today beleiving they will have effect in a later life( ressurrection).

@hanypants Nowhere in LDS scriptures or history is there any mention of any war being the reason for polygamy. My grandmother, who was assigned as a plural wife to my grandfather, was 17 at the time and not a war widow. If you really think polygamy was given because of any war can you find any statement by an LDS leader saying so? I know of none and I've been studying this for a couple of decades.

I choose to be a member on my own free will, and I also choose to pay tithing using the same medium, if that is a problem with you then get some counselling so you can get over it. I am happy to see where my money is going, I have a beautiful chapel to worship in, a lovely temple, all literature and books we worship with are free, unlike other religions and even if I didn't see it, paying tithes is not about money, but you only see what you want to see.

Prove where the Prophet receives a wage for being the Prophet not all this other crap about business ventures blah blah blah, not interested in hearsay. And FYI we do get a rundown of finances and expenditure but not for me to prove that. You are the one quoting statistics.
