  • Best arrangement ever. I tear up in the middle for those crescendo harmonies they're all doing..can u imagine standing in the middle of that?? Lol

  • guy waving hands = travis roach, santa clara member '05-'08.

  • 2 people were blue devil members in 08'

  • i will seriously never get tired of this. it still gives me goosebumps every time i watch it.

  • Little Night Music. Incredible show.

  • Is the guy waving his hand the drum major?

  • @tmtv633 hes not "waving his hand" hes conducting. and no he was not the drum major, I believe he was an alumni

  • @THEmelloMAN1229 No he may not be waving his hand but conducting would be a stretch. But that is the drum corps way so fine. If he is not the drum major then he stole his jacket. I do like his pattern at 1:30 though.

  • Absolutley beautiful. They really are amazing.

  • Now that's a gorgeous Brass sound! I love it!

  • There is so much emotion in this video, its awe inspiring.

  • As an SCV Alum, This song means so much to me and any alum from all years. We always are on the verge of breaking in to tears when we are played this song.

Now only if they were still using G bugles! :P

SCV will forever be #1 to me.

  • if i woke up and looked ouy my bedroom window and saw santa clara playing, i would go bananas. i cant imagine a better way to begin a morning

  • This will always be one of SCV's most gorgeous pieces.

  • @treasured17 clowns and music of the night are the 2 best ever played by scv, then adagio for strings

  • In the 5 years I have to participate in this great activities, one of them HAS to be spent with SCV. I don't think any other corps could fulfill my passion and dreams more.

  • @CanyonBassCaptain *activity

  • the jet sound in the background in the beggining sounds neat lol

  • this gives me goosebumps every single time i watch it.

  • Chill up and down the spine. Very beautiful.

  • This Blue Devil fan says BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • would you happen to have a recording of similar quality of music of the night? i'm not trying to take away from this piece at all or anything, i absolutely love it! but all the recordings of music of the night i've found are no where as good quality as this and i'm really hoping to find one!

  • @bigpanda9390

i personally do not have one. keep searching though, i'm sure there are some out there!

  • @bigpanda9390 get the program real player, download this vid, and convert to an mp3 with a file converter. :)

  • Simply amazing...

  • Those chills you're feeling right now are the result of great music.

  • one day i will get to hear this live. i almost did in 2008 when we had encore with them in Texas i think it was but we were loading up when they played it. Beautiful

  • @SilverFlair When we did the combined BD/SCV alum corps in 07, the current SCV A corps played this right after the Stockton show. I was sitting about 30 feet from the line....I told Jeff Pearson afterwards that I could die happy now, after having Clowns right in my face.

There is nothing like hearing this live...nothing.

  • I wish this and other songs by SCV were on itunes. I'd buy this one in a second.

  • This gave me chills.

  • why cant i cry? i wanted to. lol this was an amazing experience for my ears:)

  • Getting to experienceplaying this alongside friends I will never forget, is the single most fulling moment in my life thus far. Thank you Santa Clara.

  • getting to experience this with brothers and sisters I will never forget is the single most fulling moment in my life thus far.

  • And that. That, is why they are Santa Clara Vanguard :) That is why they owned in 2008

  • God bless Gail Royer.

  • does any one have the music for this ??

  • I remember this! i was there! and i got to meet the drum major! gosh, memories.. it was so beautiful... especially live...!

  • I haven't been able to shed one tear this week, and I should be. Thanks Vanguard, you got one out of me =' ]

  • Why do I cry every time I hear this beautiful song? I've never cried from hearing a song played by a corp, until I first heard this song.

I easily understand why this song makes everyone cry, cause it happens to me still, even after hearing this multiple times!

SCV is really one of the greatest corps out there, and they always will be!

  • @RisingMoonDragon Listen to Phantom do Ave Maria. Tears.

  • Wow!

First time I remember Santa Clara play this was in '74 when it was their "exit", back then corps had an exit number, then they kinda made it their corp song and I heard again in Montreal in '81 at retreat after they took title and it is so cool 35 years later they still are playing it!!!

  • excellent work!

  • I mentioned playing Send In the Clowns to my band director and he thought it was like circus music or something.

  • My section leader thought the same thing!

  • @hievdrumlinein09 kill him for me please

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • I just got some major goose bumps...

  • because its so dang beautiful... (tear)

  • this was nice and why do you hear some crying in the back though lol

  • It was me... Oh wait! You meant on the video. lol

  • why do you think? :D

  • @tatulovu because it's finals day, and those are the age outs crying. Beautiful piece.

  • im not even a wind player (hence the name) and this is amazing to me

  • same here man :')

  • beautiful:)

  • is it me, or is their someone ALWAYS COUGHING in a Send in the Clowns video..i swear..almost every vid.lol

but despite the coughing, SCV is the best:)

  • Those coughs are all from people crying. I get chocked up when I hear this.

  • me too...

  • they have nice sound

  • Good God

  • i like the clouds. makes it feel kind of surreal

  • i get the chills every time i watch this

  • Every time I watch this, I have tears streaming down and I have the hugest smile on my face. Absolutely beautiful! SCV is totally my favorite corps. Such class, with such a huge tradition, I love it.

  • Why s my hair standing on my arms?

  • yeah you really can feel the emotion, this is a great performance

  • i can feel their emotion. so powerful. stay classy scv.

  • why are they all waring street close not typical Drum corp athletic shorts?

  • this is after our last rehearsal of the summer last year. the hornline played this at our housing site right before we got on the bus to perform finals in indiana.

  • rehearsal, no uniform needed

  • What time is he conducting in?

  • He is conducting in 68

  • Comment removed

  • i know the time signatures in the original song are 9/8 and 12/8

  • I totally cried that day along with everyone else in the corps after play Clowns for the last time that season. :'( i can c my self- :D i remember what i was wearing that day. ugh feels like just yesturday. Oh, and Gail Royer was the founder, First corps director, did alot of the administration, and arranged the music. He did it ALL- his last year w SCV was 1992- you should check out the 1992 Clowns where he's conducting... such an emotion night for SCV.

  • Whats the history on Gail Royer and the SCV? I've heard his name alot but dont know what he did.

  • he's the founder of scv.

  • it was a sad day but also a celebratory one. end of our chapter beginning of the next...

  • Who wrote this? Whoever it is, that person is beautiful :)

  • This is by far one of the best sounding send in the clowns I have heard vanguard do since 1999

(of course I marched contra that year)

  • I cry every time I watch this.

  • goose bumps....

  • amazing.....

  • There are no words to descibe how beautiful this song is.

  • Absolutly beautiful!!!!!

  • Somebody was crying

  • ='(

  • When a song as this means as much as it does to people, that will happen. Well done Vanguard, well done.

  • Well said bro. Makes me think of the Twins too, the Valardi bros. (God I hope I spelled their last name right. Forgive me if I hadn't.)

  • Hey Bro. Velarde Twins, just a correction. I agree. That's one of the reasons this song is one of my favs. I remember it like it was yeaterday; it's been 10 years. I still wear the star with the black ribbon.

  • we were all crying...

  • Amazingly well done + well shot video

Fantastic performance, all the professionalism of any SCV performance, somehow even better without all the uniforms and stuff - don't get me wrong I love the uniforms too!

I predict this is soon to be the most watched SCV video.

  • Beautiful... it's their chorales and hornline that make this my favorite Corp. And i'm a Percussionist. Truly amazing, and Bravo.

  • I love drum corps and have been a member, but folks please don't forget to finish school. Because after drum corps you really won't amount to anything in life if you constantly believe you're the shit in drum corps.

  • SCV got me in to drum corps, and hopefully will send me out one day. My dream corps, playing the most beautiful corps song I've ever heard.

  • Santa Clara were in their day 'untouchable' and that is coming from a World Showband Champion. I loved listening to all the DC back in the 80's even though my band was not a part of it. I was a member of the Bristol Unicorn Youth Band in England (UK). Not only did the music I was playing, but yours too inspired me to carry on playing and appreciate the fun we all had.

  • who is the conductor!?? who are these people?? where was this located?!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! that was phenomenal!!! =) *embraces band and conductor*

  • Not sure who is conducting. But this is Santa Clara Vanguard which is a World Class drum corps located in Santa Clara California.

  • The drum major is Travis Roach

  • I need to learn a brass instrument, I AM SOLD ON SCV!

  • Love this.

Damn they're so underrated... I hope next summer I can march for them.

  • SCV = class

    'nuff said

  • true dat.

  • well put.

  • couldnt have said it better myself....really enjoy this piece of vanguards :) SOOOO MUSICAL

  • Every time I hear "Clowns" it makes me smile. Every time I hear "Clowns" it seams as if they are playing it for Gail.

  • Nice Song

  • i would have loved to be a resident in one of those houses. gives me chills every time. lovelovelove SCV.

  • those aren't houses....it's a school

  • meaning in the area.

i'm sure you could hear it pretty far away.

  • gotcha...

  • wow!!its feels like my first time to hear this thing!eventhough i've heard this a hundred times!!!keep it up!

  • What I would do to be able to play clowns again, to march SCV again! This is why I would love to be young again, no other reason. In just the first four notes...it does what no other piece of music will ever do for me. It brings back memories that no other song will ever bring....

  • All this Madison alum can say is... That was sweeeeeet. Even though I marched six years, I think I only ever had a chance to see SCV play Send In The Clowns from in front of the horn line twice. LOVE it!

  • does someone has de music of send in the clowns ? greetz trokkie

  • Best moment is at 1:30. For sure.

  • Oh believe me. Going to DCI for the first time in 2008 was the best thing ever. And actually getting to see this performance? BEST thing ever. SCV WINS!

  • that was awesome man..!!

  • Woaww, nice.

  • guys... watch the je drum and bugle playing these piece just type "JE BAND- SEND IN THE CLOWNS" tnx.

  • that was beautiful

  • i just pooped

  • SCV....over 40 years of skill,Dicipline and spirit.... Over 40 years...Of CLASS!!!!

  • that was amazing scv!

  • i hope to play for SCV summer 2010. its a dream but an amazing corp who deserves alot more than what the judges give them. love this corp

  • i'm a percussionist, and this still made me tear up

  • I hope I get to hear this live one day

  • just listening to it at half the volume gave me chill bumps and i love it.. its a really cool piece.. good job

  • Anyone have the arrangement for this? It's just awesome!

  • I got to play Clowns the last time Gail conducted it after Finals. I'll cherish that moment til the day I die.

  • If you love horn lines you will wear out the replay button on this great one

  • I love his style of conducting.

  • its very emotional.

hes actually "conducting", not keeping time.

  • They play this piece in 6/8 with the DM conducting in half time. In a way he is, but he's not keeping strict time.

  • these piece is already stuck in head. its just so nice!

  • Oh you mean the little dance he did? Because he also did a badass pose too.

  • Kotaniwa--do you know what the name of the tuba player, the one who did the visual at the front of the wedge at the beginning of 'Body,' was? It was the most BA thing I've seen with a tuba, and I looked forward to it at every new show site all summer.

  • Yea his name was Kota Niwa. He was our Japanese Tuba player who aged out this year. I used his name because I couldn't think of anything else. lol There was a similar visual to his a little before the t move in "mind"(before the second big hit towards the end) by a mello player, though harder to spot.

  • 1:27 - :30 wow to say the least

  • wow

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! Chills are going up and down my spine right now and I feel some tears starting... I'm a percussionist/drummer but I do have a place in my heart for a GREAT BRASS line. How I miss my corps days! KEEP IT UP SCV!!!!!! I see a DCI championship in your future!!!

  • wow.One day I would not mind being with the santa clara vanguard! that would be aswame. I am going on to my second year of marching band next year.

  • ...is this in front of someone's house!?

if it is how can i sign up for them to come to my house?! :p

chills every single time i hear it.

    love.♥

  • no just our finals housing site lol

  • ohhh. i was all excited. :p

still, incredible song and incredible corps. :]

  • thanks

  • Kotaniwa--do you know what the name of the tuba player, the one who did the visual at the front of the wedge at the beginning of 'Body,' was? It was the most BA thing I've seen with a tuba, and I looked forward to it at every new show site all summer.

  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Somewhere, Gail Royer is smiling!

  • chills....

  • God I love this piece of music. It whats to make me cry.

  • corps...

  • nah marching band we r really small but the sound and visuals are amzing i march trumpet (xeno) and i love it!

  • comparing corps to band is like comparing ice cream to frozen yogurt. They're kind of the same, but totally different.

  • More like tin to gold.

  • amazing

i had chills from beginning to end :)

  • i cant stop listening to this. the climax gives me chills everytime.
