@THEmelloMAN1229 No he may not be waving his hand but conducting would be a stretch. But that is the drum corps way so fine. If he is not the drum major then he stole his jacket. I do like his pattern at 1:30 though.
As an SCV Alum, This song means so much to me and any alum from all years. We always are on the verge of breaking in to tears when we are played this song.
In the 5 years I have to participate in this great activities, one of them HAS to be spent with SCV. I don't think any other corps could fulfill my passion and dreams more.
would you happen to have a recording of similar quality of music of the night? i'm not trying to take away from this piece at all or anything, i absolutely love it! but all the recordings of music of the night i've found are no where as good quality as this and i'm really hoping to find one!
one day i will get to hear this live. i almost did in 2008 when we had encore with them in Texas i think it was but we were loading up when they played it. Beautiful
@SilverFlair When we did the combined BD/SCV alum corps in 07, the current SCV A corps played this right after the Stockton show. I was sitting about 30 feet from the line....I told Jeff Pearson afterwards that I could die happy now, after having Clowns right in my face.
There is nothing like hearing this live...nothing.
Getting to experienceplaying this alongside friends I will never forget, is the single most fulling moment in my life thus far. Thank you Santa Clara.
First time I remember Santa Clara play this was in '74 when it was their "exit", back then corps had an exit number, then they kinda made it their corp song and I heard again in Montreal in '81 at retreat after they took title and it is so cool 35 years later they still are playing it!!!
Every time I watch this, I have tears streaming down and I have the hugest smile on my face. Absolutely beautiful! SCV is totally my favorite corps. Such class, with such a huge tradition, I love it.
this is after our last rehearsal of the summer last year. the hornline played this at our housing site right before we got on the bus to perform finals in indiana.
I totally cried that day along with everyone else in the corps after play Clowns for the last time that season. :'( i can c my self- :D i remember what i was wearing that day. ugh feels like just yesturday. Oh, and Gail Royer was the founder, First corps director, did alot of the administration, and arranged the music. He did it ALL- his last year w SCV was 1992- you should check out the 1992 Clowns where he's conducting... such an emotion night for SCV.
Hey Bro. Velarde Twins, just a correction. I agree. That's one of the reasons this song is one of my favs. I remember it like it was yeaterday; it's been 10 years. I still wear the star with the black ribbon.
Fantastic performance, all the professionalism of any SCV performance, somehow even better without all the uniforms and stuff - don't get me wrong I love the uniforms too!
I predict this is soon to be the most watched SCV video.
I love drum corps and have been a member, but folks please don't forget to finish school. Because after drum corps you really won't amount to anything in life if you constantly believe you're the shit in drum corps.
Santa Clara were in their day 'untouchable' and that is coming from a World Showband Champion. I loved listening to all the DC back in the 80's even though my band was not a part of it. I was a member of the Bristol Unicorn Youth Band in England (UK). Not only did the music I was playing, but yours too inspired me to carry on playing and appreciate the fun we all had.
What I would do to be able to play clowns again, to march SCV again! This is why I would love to be young again, no other reason. In just the first four notes...it does what no other piece of music will ever do for me. It brings back memories that no other song will ever bring....
All this Madison alum can say is... That was sweeeeeet. Even though I marched six years, I think I only ever had a chance to see SCV play Send In The Clowns from in front of the horn line twice. LOVE it!
Oh believe me. Going to DCI for the first time in 2008 was the best thing ever. And actually getting to see this performance? BEST thing ever. SCV WINS!
Kotaniwa--do you know what the name of the tuba player, the one who did the visual at the front of the wedge at the beginning of 'Body,' was? It was the most BA thing I've seen with a tuba, and I looked forward to it at every new show site all summer.
Yea his name was Kota Niwa. He was our Japanese Tuba player who aged out this year. I used his name because I couldn't think of anything else. lol There was a similar visual to his a little before the t move in "mind"(before the second big hit towards the end) by a mello player, though harder to spot.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Chills are going up and down my spine right now and I feel some tears starting... I'm a percussionist/drummer but I do have a place in my heart for a GREAT BRASS line. How I miss my corps days! KEEP IT UP SCV!!!!!! I see a DCI championship in your future!!!
