  • @masomo100 I didn't write this song, Christopher Tin did, and he added "Our Father, Jesus" and I didn't make this video, and the correct translation is "Baba yetu yetu uliye" because the guy that did make it messed up the translation

  • @masomo100 another thing, it's called the Lord's Prayer, and who is the Lord? Jesus, so yes it's about Jesus

  • Comment removed

  • @masomo100 dude, I didn't write this song, go complain to Christopher Tin if you are really that discontent because it says "Our father, Jesus, who art in heaven" I don't care, this song is still the Lord's Prayer okay?

  • Comment removed

  • @Cotif11 why do u keep repeating i didn't write the song i know that.the song and u suck anyway

  • @masomo100 you're the idiot that thought this Prayer/Song was about God, it's about Jesus, and you seem to be blaming me for the fact the person who wrote this put "Our Father, Jesus, who art in heaven"

  • Singing d

  • I am singing this for choir.good song

  • @deceptionmafiaclan a lot of people are, I'm so glad ot hear it too :)

  • This video has 90% of these words mispelled. Haha.

  • @ktcsaari is that supposed to be an insult?

  • @Cotif11 Thanks :D That'd be awesome.

  • I love it but don't know how to pronounce the really long words :(

  • @WalkAwayFromTheSun1 believe it or not, I made a pronunciation sheet for Baba Yetu, if you don't have friend lock on I could send it to you :)

  • y doesnt our lords prayer sound as good?

  • @xXDynamicHD well, it's a prayer not a song, and this is in a different language so. . .

  • Wasn't this on the Civilization game?

  • @a1l2i3n4e yes, Civilization IV

  • "Don't put a question mark where the Lord has put a period." -My friend's grandmother and people really need to listen to it. Thank you all and if anyone out there knows who made this song I would gladly put there name in the description

  • Im Christan, Dont like it? Fuck you <3

This song is so awesome! Civ 4 was a beautiful game, I cant wait for Civ 6, and I hope they re add this :)

  • @SegaUnited #1. YEAH! People who try to besmirch the Lord's name are douchebags. #2. I just hope for Civ VI they drop Steam T_T

  • @Cotif11 Agreement, we are in agreement.

  • @SegaUnited yeah :D

  • i am singing this song in chorus its good to know it is about.

  • i am singing this song in chorus its good to know it is about.

  • I am a Jew and I like this song. Not because of what it is about, but just because it is beautifull music. All music was ment to be enjoyed by everyone no matter who they are.

  • Christopher Tin is a really cool guy, I got to shake his hand and see his Grammy. We (our high school band) got to work with him to make a band composition of this song

  • Singing this song in my choir :) <3

  • We can only measure that which we have adequate measuring tools to measure. Ask any one of my colleagues in medicine and they will tell you we don't have the tools to understand everything about the body. Therefore we don't know. We just have to keep our minds open in searching for the truth. The same goes for physics, chemistry, or any other hardcore science. I am a medical professional. Science is my job. I was moved by God in a way none of my shit can measure or understand. My mind was opened

  • @ScorpyCFS Very well put ScorpyCFS..... and if I may add to your words; it is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know!

    Peace.

  • Believing unequivocally that there is nothing left on this planet that we do not know about or can prove is as closed and stupidly minded as most atheists try to pretend religious people are. Now, I am certainly not religious, but I think the mind, like a parachute, works best when open.

When I take an xray of a patient, I stand behind glass that hides me from something I can't feel, hear, taste, smell or see. Yet 100 years ago as far as we were concerned didn't exist.

  • I love this song! I have had hardships, but am still a firm believer in God. For those who don't, I udnerstand. It is hard to believe in Him, it was for me at many times in my life.

Any belief as long as it doesn't purposly harm someone mentally, emotonally, or physically is alright in my books. So If you choose to believe, all the power to you! And if not, still power to you too!

  • If you are going to make an ignorant atheist comment, at least know what you're talking about. For the other people thank you for watching and liking! I truthfully would have never thought I'd be one of the top videos when you type in Baba Yetu! Thank you guys so much

  • @Cotif11 I have been examining many versions of this song with lyrics and I find favor yours from the rest! You have the lyrics in both English and Kiswahili languages. This helps the English speakers understand exactly what is being said, when its being said. Very commentable! Shukrani.

  • @Phikay1thank you, but I didn't make the song, but I agree with you! :D

  • This song is one of the reasons I don't mind still living on this planet.

  • @RealParadoxBlues lol nice!

  • Thank God for Civ IV

  • @Ratkill9000 Amen

  • @Ratkill9000 Indeed!

  • Wow I would be never know this was the our father prayer.

  • @TheBluerayxx I know it's cool isn't it? :D

  • what civ4 is brainwashing us into christianity

  • @mortier19 Sid Meier is a Christian therefor why wouldn't he use a Christian song? Go complain about it somewhere else, because the fact is God is real, religion causes problems but is beautiful, and anyone can think what they want

  • @Cotif11 can you actually prove god is real?

    i thought so you can't

i believe in science and not in some sort of god cuz its ridiculous to think that there is one

  • @mortier19 (Part 1) I love how your making your second argument here, like I'm not gonna answer. The best way to prove God is with science. We have a gene in our DNA pool, called VMAT2, or the God Gene. No other animal has it, not even Lucy. It actually makes us believe in a god, it's been proven, but for some people like yourselves, when asked to think about God, their Cerebral-Cortex, goes black, in religious people it lights up, so to speak. Also Noetic Sciences in (Part 2)

  • @mortier19 (Part 2) Okay, so Noetic Sciences, scientists have asked many volunteers on their death beds to sit in an ultra-accurate scale, and when the did, at the time of death, the lost weight. It wasn't from breathing, not from loosing any bodily fluids it was their Soul. We tried it when dogs were euthanize. No weight loss, well isn't that a bit peculiar? Why would a dog have no soul? Oh wait! I know, in the Bible God says animals were put on the Earth for humans, because WE are his children

  • @Cotif11 ^_^ thank you SO much for putting this vid up! i sing it to my kechara (beloved in Kaled'a'in for any readers of Black/White/Silver Gryphon ^_^) all the time. we both believe in Him and are quite happy that we do. after all..... without His guidance i don't think either of us would have met. We truly are soul-mates and this song (while indeed being the Lord's Prayer) inspires us to continue to overcome the challenges before us and find true salvation after we die. Thanks again!

  • @bakrurper :)

  • @mortier19 cos u dont see god ..u dont belive in him?oh gosh?

when their is no god ..how can ever people excist in this world?and how it could it be?dont u imagine?

then u only believe if u see god ..isnt it?

then if u cant see ur brain u dont hav e a brain..u idiot..

  • @mortier19

You honestly think laughter, conscience, thinking, feeling, and love came from cosmic dust?

  • civilization game that is

  • loved the game and the song!!!

  • i dont understand how people can make such a big deal over a word -_- just enjoy the music!

  • I'm sorry to all I have gotten into arguments with, over the translation. I looked on Christopher Tin's website and the proper translation is: "Baba yetu yetu uliye" I will be delivering full, personal, formal apologies to all of you

  • What would civ4 be without yhis song. Its gr8! ty for this vid no you undertand what its about

  • @96robola yeah, I would probably not have been so fanatical about the Civilization series without this song. Thanks :)

  • @iWolfieBoy dude, have you seen the other guys I've had to tell off, look on the Firaxis Website, it is Baba yetu, Yesu, uliye, plus I didn't make the video. Get that through your thick skull

  • @iWolfieBoy turn on the annotations idiot

  • Thank you guys for commenting, I love to here your reactions to the song!

  • We are singing this in our choir!(:

  • @jordansaremylife that's awesome, I'm so glad school's still have religion in them :)

  • woooooow

  • love dis song

  • C'est dans quelle langue svp ?

  • @LeJumper01 Il est le swahili et l'anglais, la chanson est chantée en swahili

  • I would have prefered an actual swahili song.

    but this is still awesome

  • epic, amazing song no other way to describe this

  • @lanyccany so true

  • This is, in the proper sense, an epic song. It is amazing.

  • @WorldChallenge thank you, that's one of the most true things I've ever heard!

  • this song is catchy. thumbs up if you agree.

  • Very true! that's what matters :)

  • Yeah but its kinda sad that it has to be in a language no one in the audience will know to sing it. All they will know isn't that it means the Lord's pray and that its gorgeous sounding.

  • @sharnacat18 yeah, well, at least you and I know the lyrics right? lol

  • Oops haha, **doing this in choir, but its really exciting and I love the lyrics :)

  • @sharnacat18 lol, yeah, I'm glad to see God still has a place in the world :)

  • Awesome! We are doing this doing in choir!

  • @sharnacat18 lol

  • Though I speak very little Swahili, I have a very good ear; and I clearly hear the second as "Yesu," whenever anyone who knows Swahili sings it. Thanks for posting the correction. I'm trying to learn it because I can't stop singing it when I hear it and it's a simply gorgeous song. I know you didn't make the vid, but I'm glad you reposted it. Thanks again.

  • @Starshadow your welcome, and thank you ;)

  • do you think that christopher tin used google translate to write this song or something?????

  • @azerskater no, he probably had Swahili Language translators come to translate the song for him, I guess humans are more reliable than electronic programs ;)

  • @Cotif11 I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but I feel like you are, so in short YES they are more reliable? I guess you don't realize that he probably had a Native Swahili speaker translate for him. And a translator is 1000x more reliable than Google Translate. You know how awful that program is, right?

  • @azerskater yes I do realize because Google Translate, or any other translator I know of can't understand grammar, especially foreign, very well

  • @Cotif11 exactly why your lyrics are wrong different words have different meaning in different context

  • @azerskater wow, look at the description and annotations, I'm not discussing this

  • @Cotif11 Why are you so stubborn why don't you just annotate it to yetu yetu or something because you know you're wrong.

  • @azerskater or why don't you look at Wikipedia or the Firaxis website? They both say "yetu, Yesu"

  • I didn't realize this song was about God.

I love it all the more now! :)

  • @o0OhannahmacinnesO0o lol, yeah

  • The words are "Baba yetu yetu mjina lako elitukuzwe" I'm singing the song in choir and have the actual music sheet. Also love how you have the translations. :)

  • This song reminds me of the movie Avatar (the blue people version) Fantastic video, song and movie.

  • @nicoleexxmariee thank, you, I guess I could see the similarities

  • Uliye means folded not who art

  • @blackandredrobedude Uliye means folded by itself not together, Swahili blends words together to mean different. Uliye along with the rest of the song it means "who art"

  • @Cotif11 ah ok

  • @blackandredrobedude yeah, I didn't understand a lot of this at first

  • /watch?v=bxQYSmBMdVo&feature=share

Skip to 5:52 if you just want to hear baba yetu. :)

  • we are singing this is in chorus

  • @nikkilolchick13 that's cool, I beat it sounds beautiful with so many voices :)

  • Its always "yetu" in the chorus, just so you know :) I don't mean to be anal, but my choir director pounded Swahili in to our heads for 4 months while we learned this song, so it kinda stands out to me now...

Otherwise, I LOVE that someone has the words correct for once. Very annoying when they dont :) I love this song with all my life!!!

  • XDDDDDD BEAUTIFUL

  • @MegaShadoworld lol. Quite

  • you messed up a word

in the chorus its baba yetu, YETU (not yesu) uliye.

  • @llanabuddy look at the annotations I'm not discussing it

  • who's the punkass who disliked?!

  • Comment removed

  • @detoliverboy LOL!!

  • @Cotif11 this song is to beautiful to be discussing this we need to accept the song how it is made i love it with all are heart that all that counts.as long as we love the song either it being yetu or yesu. but it is yesu.

  • @TheSalayer thank you :)

  • @Cotif11 your welcome :)

  • learn the words before you post something like this dumbass...

  • @never4shout10never11 the lyrics are correct dumbass. Also I didn't make the video DUMBASS. Figure shit out before commenting dumbass.

  • @Cotif11 Dude don't rely on google translate. Speak to a person who actually speaks fluent swahili, google translate is HORRIBLE.

  • @Cotif11 or why don't you speak to someone who speaks swahili instead of going to programs

  • @Cotif11 actually a few lyrics are incorrect. I can't fault you for that since you've already stated you did not create the video but still, there is no "yesu" in the song and that part where the video says the lyrics are "milelea milele" the lyrics are actually "muovue milele". These are minor mistakes but still the video is not 100% correct. Argue with me if you will but I possess the actual music sheets that contains the lyrics.

  • It's Yetu yetu

  • @azerskater no it's not, it is yetu, Yesu because: "Baba yetu, yetu uliye" is: "Our father who art in us" the correct translation is: "Baba yetu, Yesu uliye" which is: "Our father, Jesus who art in" the translation is correct

  • @azerskater no it's not, it is yetu, Yesu because: "Baba yetu, yetu uliye" is: "Our father who art in us" the correct translation is: "Baba yetu, Yesu uliye" which is: "Our father, Jesus who art in" the translation is correct

  • @Cotif11 Read any choir arrangement. It's yetu yetu

  • @azerskater i knowwwww right! i have to sing this for choir they did it alllll wrong!

  • @never4shout10never11 for real, it kind of pisses me off

  • @azerskater well, I suppose who ever makes those chorus arrangements is wrong. On the Firaxis website it says: yetu, Yesu

  • @Cotif11 right, because whatever the internet says it exactly right

  • @azerskater no, I don't believe Wikipedia, or some random website based in Poland, I believe the website, of the game, that gave Christopher Tin money to produce Baba Yetu, I believe in the website that owns this song

  • @never4shout10never11 well it's wrong, it says: yetu, Yesu on the Firaxis website

  • @Cotif11 You can even hear him singing yetu yetu

  • @azerskater yes I do, but at Wikipedia, the Breaking Dawn website, and the Firaxis website they all say yet, Yesu. They do sing yetu, yetu but the correct translation is Yesu

  • @Cotif11 Why is it even that when it is "our father, who art in heaven." It seems like it should be God. I'm confused :)

  • @MrReecesPieces lol, probably because Baba yetu, Yesu uliye mbinguni sounds better than Baba yetu uliye mbinguni :P

  • @Cotif11 I just now clearly hear them singing "baba yetu, yetu uliye" he clearly stresses "ye" and emphasizes "tu"

"yetu" and "yesu" both sound beautiful to me.

The choir seems to say : "Our father, our who art in heaven, our, our. Amen!" It makes sense in a poetic sense. What i'm saying is song artists don't always us correct grammar so as to add extra "flavor" to the song. If a person was to use this translation, it may be percieved that they are more into the prayer.

  • @MrReecesPieces wow, amazing perception of the translation, thank you

  • @Cotif11 In all, I don't like any of these translations :D

  • TESTIFYYYY

  • @kmasucci lol

  • we are singing this in choir.. and we have to SIGHT READ THIS D: its soooo hardd but fun to sing :3 and i got the solo and im an alto D: but somehow i can hit that note :3

  • we are singing this in choir.. and we have to SIGHT READ THIS D: its soooo hardd but fun to sing :3

  • Singing this for 8th grade chorus class; so hard to learn a song in a different language!

  • @cj22298 lol yeah, I mainly focus on the sound not lyrics, ive got it memorized ;)

  • I love how this is an amazing song with no dislikes:)

singing this in youth choir :D

  • @Cotif11 It's not Yesu but Yetu, and at 2:57 the English translation is "And You Wake From The Dead"..... plus the person who uploaded this IS a great person!!! XD

  • @bobfari actually yetu, Yesu is correct, even look on Wikipedia or the Firaxis website
