  • Hey Buddy.

Can i just ask. Are you connecting your G-Sys to the RK via the 4 cable method or is it just in the loop of the RK. Could i also ask what cables you are using? I know they're George L's but are they balanced or are you using one of those solder-free kits? Im asking because i heard people have troubles with the G-system in the amp loop inless they use balanced TRS cables.

Cheers Dude. You rock that RK! Dont ever sell it! Even if the 11R is great! :-)

  • "i still got the plastic stuff on ... that's how gay i am"

    ha!

  • @Pianoblacks It's STILL there too... and on my 11R also... hehe

  • im a roadking one owner and I really am envious of the lonestar channel one - the simpler fx loops and the tuner i/o

    Nice video keep us updated

  • You can do a simple mod to have your Road King converted to a series effects loop. The tuner i/o I don't need since the G-System and Nova-System mute the signal and have built in tuners - but yeah the clean channel is the kicker I guess, though I've never A/B'd them personally to say how much better, if at all it is - but it's a big selling point for Mesa, so I would have to think it's pretty substantial if it's anything like the clean channel on a regular rectifier.

  • Funny Fact:

I've heard that the finnish of the product can be damaged if you leave the plastic on too long.

  • Dude I about spit my drink all over my keyboard on that one... LOLOL!

  • Okey lol, was it funny or something? xD

  • Totally

  • Awesome. I wanted to know this. Great.

  • Ok cool so you got what you needed info wise ? I saw your other post but I think I go over that here so hopefully you're good to go!

  • Vintage 30s are 60 watts or 70 watts not 30 watts

  • Yes thats right 60 watts thanks for the correction! I never claimed to be a genius and don't think I have to worry about being mistaken for one anytime soon... :)

  • Oh sorry looked like a question more than an exclamation! :) !

  • You can actually switch between 50, 100 and 120 depending on the configuration.

  • it finishes arriving a mesa boogie roadster and a G system

that cables you used to connect your amplifier to the G system?

I am confused so that they say that balanced, unbalanced cables etc hopefully you can help me

    sorry for my english =]

    Thanks =]

  • Hey man, not exactly sure what you are asking but typically balanced cables are those with "XLR" connections such as microphone cables, and unbalanced would be your 1/4 inch guitar cable for instance. There CAN be however (just to confuse you) 1/4 inch balanced cables as well - those are typically stereo cables. For the G-System, all you need are unbalanced 1/4 inch cables for the audio signals throughout. The stereo 1/4 inch cables I believe can be used for the built in relay switching.

  • which is the best Mesa Amp they go out right now? cuz im looking for one i wont regret buying just to jam with my band and do sum gigs and record with

  • Depends on your style brother. I would check out the Mark V as it's a combination of all their greatest amps in one. I would also consider the Road King II as well :)

  • HAHA. "I still have the plastic on here. That's how gay I am." I figured out what you use to change the channels.. btw. Thanks.

  • LOL - yeah I know, I'm always afraid I'll scratch it and then it'll bug the hell outta me... can you say OCD? hehehe Glad you figured out the amp switching deal - they make a smaller mini version now (naturally - ugh...) and so I need one if you want to buy mine :) lol

  • hey man if you would mind, could you explain how to use the fx loop on the back of this thing? I'm a retard and couldn't figure it out with one simple pedal. I always had to plug my guitar into the input of the pedal and use the output of the pedal to plug straight into the guitar input on the front of the head. You da man!

  • Do you mean the fx loop on the back of the amp or the g-system, or the 4 loops on the g-system?

  • I mean the fx loop on the back of the amp

  • Easy - You have 2 loops. One uses only Send 1 and Return 1 and the other uses only Send 2 and Return 2. The send goes to your pedals input, and the return goes to your pedals output. On each channel on the back side, I believe you can bypass the loops if you want with a dip switch setting, so make sure they aren't bypassed and you should be rockin...

  • Sweet! Thanks man I really appreciate it!! Keep Rockin!

  • No problem brother! You too!

  • Really nice setup, mine is almost the same but without a wireless system and a diezel cab, i love this.

btw you have the plastic on, you're so gay with your gayness^^

  • Thanks!!! Yeah I know - I'm always paranoid it'll get scratched then that'll piss me off everytime I look at it and it'll be the one reason why I won't be able to sell it on Ebay later... "I love it but the scratched screen is a deal breaker..." CRAP! :) If the top had plastic on it I would've kept that on there too... hehe I played in a cover band (fraternity circuit) for 10 years and had so much beer spilled on my pedals so I guess I'm a tad hypersensitive about that stuff... LOL

  • Hey,

You probably said this a lot in the video, but i got confused. Cause i never used any amp more complex than a cheap practice amp. I'm looking into getting a mesa, and your tone was awesome, thus landing on your trilogy of vids. Anyways, what i wanted to ask was about the clean vol that you were talking bout. So in order to match the vol of ur ch3 & 4, you use the solo volume on your clean channel to match the volume from ur ch3 and ch4?

    Thanks for this video= DD

  • Yeah I use the solo boost, which basically is a separate master volume you can set louder than the main master volume so setting it higher for the clean channels helps me match the levels of the high gain channels easily. The Amp Gizmo helps me switch channels and switch on the boost function at the same time along with the G-System patches so its a seamless change. Without it, you'd have to hit the clean channel switch, solo, and the G-System patch... a bit of tap dancing :)

  • I have a Road King on order-It will take 3 months to get it and I am considering the G-system and Amp Gizmo-By connecting the G-system this way are you sending the Road Kings pre-amp into the effects loop of the G-system? I have never done that as I have always run my delay pedals into the effects loops of the amp and the Gain Pedals from the guitar directly into the input of the amp. Tell me what the differences are if you don't ,mind

  • Honestly I have no idea what the difference would be I hear what you are saying, but I have run the OCD in the loop of the G-System (which I believe is buffered) and also in front of the amp and there's no difference to me in terms of tone. I thought for a while there may be an issue running in a loop of the G-System, then the G-System in the effects loop of the RKII head but I didn't notice any difference. I hope that helps...?!

  • Dude I just noticed you have an Easy Button! That rocks!

  • LOL - the best pedal I ever bought. LOL

  • Hi,

Just wondered are you going into loop 1 or loop 2 of the road king. i'm thinking of buying a g system with a amp gizmo wondered what the best way of connecting is?

    Cheers

    Paul

  • Loop one. It doesn't make a difference either way though. Definitely for me - use the loop in the head. 1) G-System Send->Input of Amp 2) Amp send to G-System return 3) G-System output (left mono) to Amp return

3 cables - simple as hell then you either mount the g-system in a rack and use cat5 cable to control it or leave it mounted in the pedal board and use 3-1/4 inch cables. Rack is best option if you have a rack, which I chose to get rid of completely for better or worse...

  • Hey man, some dude posted this about the g-system, did you have any problem with your mesa ever?

    >>>Markus and Chris at Mesa/Boogie,

the same conclusion always seems to be "DO NOT use the G-System for

    switching a Mesa product"

    For whatever reason,

Mesa says they have had a lot of cases of the G-System shorting out

the switching circuitry in their amps.

Just thought it would be a good idea to post.

  • Yes - thats what I had read on the TC Electronics forum for G-System which made me SUPER paranoid, plus even if it was safe, it would only be able to control a few of the switchable features on the amp and not all of them like the amp gizmo is able to do, so I liked that idea much more. :) Thanks for posting that info!

  • with the loops 1 and 2 can they control a pedal

  • easy button lmao

    sweeet rig

  • Thanks you! Appreciate that! :) LOL yeah I was walking through Staples and remember seeing the last Toto DVD and while I wish I could take credit for it, the keyboard player had one on his keyboard rig which cracked me up. So I'm walking through Staples during when I was wiring up the pedalboard and thought to myself "oh I NEED that" and every gig I play, people crack up when they see that and typically are more impressed with 'Ol Easy then my gear/playing so I may need to rethink all that..? :)

  • john petrucci also has one on his pedalboard

  • hey saw your videos,m really impressd with your sound and set up brother.i bought stomp boxes bt m little confusd how to order up my pedals and all gears to get good professional sound.can u plz help with this?would be really great man ,thanx. i have, BBE pedal supply power, bossDD3, bossBD2, bossCS3, ibanez TS9, bossNS2, boss RC20XL(loop pedal), Joe satchurator dist pedal by VOX, boss CS3, line 6pod xt live, crybaby all kind of suggestions also welcome bro.hnks
  • Ooh Im jealous I want the Saturator Pedal so bad... I cant fit it in my pedalboard though, UNLESS I get rid of 2 of my pedals... :( Such is life... What amp are you using?

  • I bow to ye! Awesome set up man!

  • Oh hell son thank you as always! You got the same thang pretty much! So we bow to each other, careful though, dont wanna headbutt ya. :)

  • Fantastic rig and tone man!! i think i'm sold on the Road King 2 after seeing your videos, i was torn between the RK2 and the roadster but there's a guy selling a RK2 for £1000 here in the UK!! i can't believe it!! just a quick question but is the RK2 powered by an IEC style kettle lead which is removable? or does it feature your basic 2-3 pin style plug that's actually build into the amp itself to power it? Hoping to use my Furman power conditioner which only accepts IEC style leads...Cheers!!

  • Thank you!!! Its taken me YEARS to figure out what works for me and while I'll always want MORE (LOL) I am extremely pleased with the versatility of it and the simplicity of it. So thank you very much for helping validate that. I realize its not going to be for everyone, but I think my likes and dislikes are generic enough to at least resonate with the majority so that's been a fun experience to see and hear. To answer your Q, my AC cable is built into the amp and uses standard 3 prong plug.

  • and you sir ROCK for that :) appreciate ya!

  • I was the first one to see this. Byahh!!!
