  • Any one else notice he didn't say "Star Trek"?

  • Great Job!

  • i don't like star trek but HOLY CRAP IN A BUCKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The turbolift door did it for me.

  • WTF? N I CE!

  • I want such home theatre.

  • sir i really enjoyed your walk through of your home.you did a fantastic job!!

  • excellent job, wonder what the resale value of the home is now? all the wiring has been ran, if the buyer didn't like the existing equipment, just swap it out.

  • Why is my wanker dad not this cool!

  • That kid looks like he's going to be married soon, and I'm leaving my wife...I wonder if this guy is hiring for a new son?

  • I think they need to go visit the sick bay

  • Whenever nothing important was going on, Chekhov and Sulu would sit in their chairs on the bridge of the Enterprise and watch old westerns on the big screen!

  • Does the 12k include all the equipment? Projector,audio,5 chairs...?

  • Galaxy far far away?? Wrong Its "Space the final frontier"

  • this guys smart for doing a scale model first, i just learned that in architecture class a month ago from my teacher, and forlike 11-12k that pretty good. All he needs now is framed movie posters and then itd be legit. Course thats just my opinion

  • Galaxy far far away?? Wrong franchise there i think lol

  • just my dreams...

  • the most creative home cinema i`ve ever seen, all the trekkies will be so jealous! haha

  • This guy could be a set designer

  • It's funny, he was probably not allowed to say the names "STAR TREK" or "ENTERPRISE", he had to use generic terms instead, must have been some silly legalities. It made it all sound quite weird. "Spaceship", it would have sounded much better if he was just allowed to say "The Starship Enterprise"

  • that is very cool, if my wife would go for something like this it would of been done already,, she likes the 50"s black and white, coke look,,, very nice.. Jeff Steeljaws game room

  • dude, i love your home theater.

  • Nerds ?

  • Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerds!. not something to put on your okcupid resume.

  • Now that is a father and son project! If I had a house with an extra room to work with, I would do the same thing, but maybe in a Victorian style. I've been to Skywalker Ranch, and been in the screening rooms...now those were nice.

  • It's Star Trek and not Star Wars dumbass.

And Star Trek is not "In a galaxy far far away"

  • looks nothing like the enterprise bridge but the man is a genuis!he deserves the Zefram Cochrane award!!!

  • great job very impressive i am also from philly and i spent about $10,000.00 for my home theatre system and if i must say my self i am very impressed. but the strange thing is that i build it in the living/dining room area . it's a multi media station !!!

  • Sorry to break it to you, but I've got a 104" HD TV with a 7.1 Klipsch surroundsound system. That's a whole 2" bigger.

  • I'm building a recording studio with a slightly modernised version of the "space-ship" theme. $12k was definitely a good estimate for the actual room, but there's no way he got equipment included in that figure.

  • galaxy far far away = Star Wars .

  • Very cool...

  • great work guys and great presentation! i learned a lot for mine which i will be starting on in a couple months. thanks

  • Fricken awesome!

  • I did my DIY home theater for about $15K including electronics and furnishings, so it can be done. Labor is costly, so he saved a bundle by doing it himself, and his creativity is priceless.

  • how can you do that for 12k? i would think the projector and audio alone would cost that.

  • @paigow66 not nessicarly, you can get a high quality 1080p projector from between 1200 and 2000 dollars (epson 8100, and Panasonic AE4000), and you can get some decent audio equipment for about a grand from ONKYO. It's really not that expensive, the screen was probably around 400 dollars. the rest of the equipment probably totalled another 1000 dollars, that leaves like 6-7 for the rest of the room, and with him doing all the work and building, he really saved on his costs.

  • fantastic i love it i hope they have a huge sci-fi collection and of course (the Sci-Fi) Channel

    LOL GREAT WORK!!

  • FANTASTIC! If I had the space and money I would do a themed one, my theme would be based on the Fortress of Solitude from Superman The Movie. :D The screen would be projected on a big plane of glass to give the impression of a hologram feel :D

  • very great theatre for 12,000 dollars and i saw a video on youtube a 6 million dollar home theatre and its shity

  • great home theater and video

  • its not all about how much ur amp was or how each speaker cost £1000s its all about that fact they had fun putting this all together father and son and its why movies where made, to be enjoyed by the family. My hat is off to you both well done on such a well thought out and made theater.

  • This has to be the best home theater I have seen. Because I have looked at loads of them with high end components with loads of money put into them and that look nice and sound great but I think people forget that movies are for fun and this one just shouts out fun! fun! fun!

  • Here's something to think about. if the new star trek online features playing captain from the bridge, just thing what it could do to have your PC setup in this room with the whole place rigged for red alert. Could be more of an experience for being there rather then just playing it.

  • Totally brilliant!!! Build one for me now!

  • Building a scale model first.. Great idea.

  • Great family fun!

  • Its clear that he based the visual design off of Star Trek - even using the static images and the look of the panels and screens from the bridge of Star Trek ships, and yet he generalizes it as "Science Fiction". Interesting....

  • AwesomeI thanks for sharing

  • $11-$12,000?!! Wow, you did great! Very impressive guys!

  • Holy shit, that is awesome! I want one!

  • Nicely Done!!! Well executed plan.

  • thats the way familys are supposed to be. sadly most arent.

  • thumbs up.

  • $11000-12000? wow thats not to bad of a price well done!

  • I guess this is what happens when your wife stops putting out.

  • lol u cant fuk all day every day

  • Hell; a replacement for the wife.

  • This... is... AMAZING!!

  • Awesome, it's one of the best science fiction rooms I've ever seen. Looks a lot like those old science fiction show from the past. LOL

  • The effort they expending to avoid saying 'Star Trek' is heroic. "Many old sci fi tv shows?" Seriously? Its the bridge of the enterprise for crying out loud! Just say it! LOL

  • I think they can't say the name of the show because of stupid copyrights or whatever:P

  • That is really cool. I do projects like that for my children. I can really appreciate the amount of thought that went into that project. It isn't easy creating things from scratch. VERY NICE

  • I actually don't like the theater very much. I really don't think all of it is nessisary. But still, even though I would have done something different with 12,000 dollars. It is quite amazing.

  • its treky i think its pritty neat

  • WOW this is super good job

  • Simply awesome!!!! Inspiring!!! Do it Your Self!!!

  • Ya right, an unfinished basement is much more valuable. Get a life and don't be so jealous.

  • I was actually referring to the safari dining room and the utilization of mud blocks shown at the start. The home theater actually looked surprisingly good!

  • I agree with you on that. lol Sorry about the earlier comment, my bad.

  • 1 question what if you move do you take it down to bring to your next house , but what if it dont fit in the next house? hes gona do it all over again?

  • 12k for just the room materials. Not the furniture or the sound/video equipment. There is no way 12,000 would cover the entire thing.

  • i want to come over i love sci fi ill bring a scifi movie and some movie peanuts we can have a movie night . id love to watch my favorite sci fi's in that room . very nice I bet if u sell that home ppl gonna want ur home now even in a recession thats my kick ass review I give u a 10 out of 10.

  • excellent work fore 12k.you can built speaker by yourself fore800 dollars and ghave the same quality like that one of 5000 dollars

  • I´m drooling over the Home theatre...astonishingly beautiful.

  • $11-12,000? Wow, that's impressive - I would have priced the room much higher, even without paying for labor. That must not include components.

  • Being rich is another word for someone who is creative unfortunately for some people they lack this umm burden of creativity and are forced to keep themselves in the socio demographic of which they are cumfortable in this usually means they will just be negative towards that which they do not understand and free time is best used creatively if you where to pay for something like that you would be paying 4 times as much. I think its a great room and inspirationall to make me want to build my own.

  • thats an art man i mean he has got to have souch a mind realy. i mean who could save that much money on a home theater

  • Some people have way to much free time.

  • I like the wall pannels, they llok great. I wouldnt have gone for the whole start trek look though.

  • this guy got style...

  • great job ! I'm jealous !! LOL really great home theatre

  • you all seem a bit jealous over what really isnt that much money. He said it was about 11-12 grand over the period of about 2 years. That's only 500 per month avg investment for two years on materials and labor(on wknds) Most of what you see that makes it look 'rich' is his skills and ingenuity. this guy really puts skill and money to good use. I bet most people couldn't turn 11-12k into smthg so worthwhile. most would prob just buy a car. not much creativity in that.

  • iwish abe your son i love movies:):)

  • that is soo cool good job

  • How unneccesarily rich are you? Thanks for showing off...next time, just feed a small country and I'll be more impressed.

  • Awesome Work!

  • Are they really that scared of a law suit, not to say "star trek"?

  • That butt-munch of a host quoted star wars for a star trek inspired subject?

  • yo kev! you got a cool dad!

  • SON IS A MASSIVE NERD.

  • This is great...I wonder what his "Budget" was? He must've had a lot of money to begin with. I can't see a regular Joe Blow being able to afford to do this, but nonetheless, it's awesome, great job.

Funny how the words "Star" or "Trek" are not used in this segment. Very smart.

  • wow this is amazing. I asked my dad for a bigger tv. He said:"sit closer to the tv"

  • Great job - thanks for sharing!

  • very cool and creative

  • Luxury! My Dad beat me with a Darth Vader helmet and made me mine coal.

  • fire RETARDANT lol

  • Oh yeah, it's so funny. To retard means to slow down.

  • WOW!!! looks so awesome, I want too!!!

  • insane

  • Definately out done yourself. Great setup.

  • excellent!

  • If only every father had the time and money to invest in a project like that with their son.

  • Of course, the Enterprise wouldn't have a bookshelf with dvd's, because the computer would simply be able to play by voice command.

  • you have a good father! that all I can say!

did you have to get license to create that just a thing? like copyright rules?

  • there's no copyright infringement because it's not a commercial teather

  • Absolutly Awesome theater, great job great desigh must be a thrill to seat there and watch a movie.

  • that is sweet as hell.the ultimate sci-fi home theater.

11k is very do-able.you dont have to spend thousands on your a/v to get decent sound/picture.

if he spent 5-6k in equipment the rest would easily pay for matirials and furniture.

    thats my 2 cents.

  • Was this guy a movie set designer?! A miniature model? Thats going the extra mile right there.

Final Comment: He built it all between $10-$11k?! My five speakers, subwoofer, and 5 Home Theatre chairs cost more than $11k! I think he's pulling our leg on that one.

  • You might have bought the high end or jumped the shark on that one

  • So now with the credit crunch has the bank come calling?

  • very cool/ i was guessing you spent 20 grand, coming in at 13 was very reasonable. very creative!

  • insane.

  • that the nicest i ever seen ilove how he put all the work in it him self

  • Thats badass! Amazin. It would be mad hookin up a 360 to that. Ooops. Wait a min. Hook up a Ps3 to that. Even better! Plug in the HDMI cable and output 7.1 on that shit which 360 can't do will be amazin! Don't forget blu ray. You can never 4get that. Leave the 360 with the 480i TV upstairs next to the fire extinguisher when it catch fires! LOL.

  • um... 360 has 1080p out... and hdmi...

  • ahahaahha

  • Awesome!

  • The son looks like screech from saved by the bell.

  • 12,000$ thas a total lie i spent 97,200$ on my theater system and it dosent even look this nice and only seats 5, im sure it looks and sounds a lot better than his since mine is just raw equipment, my guess is he spent more like 60,000$ 12thou. is absurd.. i guess ill have to make a vid. of mine, since it has 4 15inch titanic subs and 5 transducers, with a 50thousand dollar 110inch jvc TV yes a TV i coulda finished the entire room for about 45thousand if i woulda bought a projector.

  • Umm...he customed made his own theatre from scratch, saving a lot of money.

  • can you back up all of that BRAG with a video or your own...you said you should make one, it would be nice to see...$12 notes does go a long way if you do it yourself...

  • Were you even listening, you fucking moron? He built it himself because he isn't retarded like you. So, yeah, go ahead and put a video of your $97,200.0 home theater up. I bet it doesn't even fucking exist. You now what? Just forget about it and go somewhere and die, idiot.

  • That is sooo Bad ASS! I Want one!

  • Is there a problem with that...? Some of the nicest home theaters out there are made in basements. You clearly know nothing about home theaters.

  • the problem is if your broke.how can u build one of them it cost thousands of dollar.especially if you have 5 son going to college.worrying those tuition fee. than hometheater.

  • Im glad they explained how he did the computer screens on the wall.

  • OMG this dude is a genius!!

    coolest dad ever!!

  • Thats kinda cool.

  • His son didn't do shit, haha.

  • omg, i got a home theater system....mine is 7.1 surround sound, with a 12 inch sub which is 980 watt's with a 65 inch flat panel tv hanging on my wall.... with my playstation 3 and x-box 360 hooked up to it! i even got my computer hooked up to my 65 flat panel tv! beat that bitches! HAhaHAhaHA!!!! I even got the new blue ray dvd player! booyaaa!!!!

  • good for you rich cunt lol

  • Only 980 Watts?, My Sunfire Sub puts out 2700 Watts!!!, It's so powerfull that it would move across the floor and unplug itself. Now it's straped down the the floor.

Check out my System @ Lasareath dot com

    Las

  • You fool, the Sunfire subwoofers are highly inefficient miniature subwoofers. Just about any other sub with 980 watts would be louder.

  • Agreed, Sunfire subs suck balls. My 12" Paradigm Ultracube would kick it's ass.

  • Well, first of all, you are all wrong - if you knew what you were talking about you would know that speaker wattage means VERY little for actual sound quality or SPL output. (no offense, most people do not know that)

  • why the hell would you need a blu ray player if you have a ps3. Also blu ray discs are called BD's, not dvd's.

  • Also, dizzler, you have a GREAT set-up, very very nice. However, I must take your challenge - I have a 110" projector screen with an HD LCD projector that I built myself (built the screen too). I have a digital surround system with one 10" sub, and two 8" subs - it has 13 surround sound speakers all driving through a kenwood digital amp.

    ;)

  • Awesome, this gives me fantastic ideas. Great work!

  • badass i want one

  • great job captinnnnnn kurkkkkkkk

  • simply pimpin

  • wiw! 5stars!

  • That is the coolest thing ever!

  • thats just sick!!! i wish that i could have one of those bad boys!!! my parents are getting a home theater but its not going to have any sci-fi theme to it and not as great a screen and sound system, but i am totally excited!!! SDTVS SUCK xp

  • good job

  • forget the imax! im going to your home to watch movies! hahahaha!

  • holy shit thats awesome!!! u should have it open to the public and charge 5 bucks for each person

  • he will only make like $20

  • Wow totally awesome. Hey you guys open to public? Would be cool to have free movie at your house every day! Maybe next step is have a theature in a big bulding like the popular Regals worldwide! Keep it up! You also should show other movies too.. ^_^

  • Awesome!! From the Trekie theme to the do-it-yourself ingenuity, Totally Awesome!!!

  • I wouldn't be able to do that my self, not because I can't, but because I'm to lazy. It would probably stay unfinished for ever if I ever started it.

  • if I only had the money i'd be able to finish it

  • look the installation on the digital16-9 . com

    on the bridgecomm !

  • thats freakin awesome :O

  • Oh now that is cool. I want one. I've always wanted to build my own theater - similar to that one, nothing to crazy, but a nice little basement getaway. Sci-fi was a good choice for a them. Nice work Gary.

  • lol i love rich americans when they do this nerdy shit

  • yeah, it reminds of the movie bench warmer.

  • Great Job ...especially doing it on your own.

  • Very nice!

    I know you are proud!

Check out my home theater on a budget.

    community dot webshots dot com/user/myhometheater

  • Thats a way cool room! Ever watch porn on that thing lol

  • Thanks, guys for the comments about my theater. If you'd like to learn more about how I built it and the equipment uesed, visit my site at reighn_c0m.

In reality, the theater did cost about $4-5K more than the estimate you heard once you include carpet, chairs, etc. Still, you can get very nice equipment from Ymaha, Polk, Velodyne, etc. and stay on a tight budget.

    Best regards,

    Gary

  • Directed by Christopher Bavelles. Awesome for a cable show. Great room.

  • man thats just beautiful i want to check out in person

  • This segment is very cool...I wish I had an entertainment room like it.I saw it live on HGTV and it was directed by Christopher Bavelles. It seems like I see his name on a lot of HGTV shows.

  • star trek is for nerds

  • Crazy dad! I wish I had that much talent AND MONEY.

  • he said he built it for his son, YEAH!!!!!

  • What a house made out of mud bricks?

  • i dont see how he only spent 11-12k on that. looks way more expensive, considering the projector, screen, seats and all.

  • Completly agreed, That could not possibly cost only 12K. Considering the projector itself might cost 1/3 of 12K. And if you want a good receiver thats about 5K more. My ROTEL cost me 4,8K. What about the speakers? The only way it can cost that, is that he is actually using cheap japanese mid-fi stuffs (Like sony). Otherwise, good HI-FI itself could cost more than 12K!!

  • that would be mad hooking a 360 on that.

  • Incredible! That guy did a job with the mini scale than I ever could ever do with a monsterous job like this! One of the better 'dream home theaters' I've seen.

  • cool

  • Excellent room for $12K. Very creative.

  • I picked up a Home Theater magazine last month and it had a professionally done Star Trek home theater with the logo's stitched into the seat.

These DIYer's made a space ship bridge and took from like they say many scifi shows...a great idea..seems to me they are scifi fans and not start trek geeks!!
