I think you would be fine in the setting you mention. You might be able to hand your guest crazy straws and use a larger bottle (say a 2 liter) and then everyone gathers around and takes a puff together. There's always the chance of overdoing it, but since you can quickly gauge the effects here, a puff or two isn't going to be any great harm. Any more than that and you start getting into the issues of lung irritation, and well, drunkenness.
Also be aware that this will skew the BAC readings of a breathalyzer upwards so make sure no one is driving for awhile even if they aren't even slightly impared.

Are there any negative side effects to this method of drinking alcohol apart from the fact that it gets you drunk way quicker?
Because it would be a cool appetizer for my guests when I'm hosting a party (though it's very probable it'd get overused)
