He punched and kicked faster then cameras could follow, so during his movies he would purposely only do like half speed so that his actions were actuly caught on camera, for his size he was amazingly strong. Speed + Strength + tons of knowledge on multiple martial art styles and knowing the best moves from each, would make him a very great fighter.

The Gracie family contributed as well with their martial art but there were other styles that give GJJ/ BJJ a run for their money such as Catch Wrestling. GJJ is basically Judo just with a few added techniques so that's why Judo has kicked their ass in the past. Anderson Silva is the greatest in MMA no doubt!

You may think MMA Fighters are really strong, but since they are a MMA Fighters they should use more techiques without beeing Jiu-Jitsu and Boxe ( in most of UFC) plus, they have no flexibility at all as Bruce. A good fighter needs to be Strong, Fast and Flexible (and a couple of more maybe..) that's why they can't avoid most of the attacks without beeing with their own bodies THUMBS UP if you agree with me!..

When Bruce did boxing, he used techniques that worked, don't compare personal styles with sports. Also some mma fighters have major flexibility. Look at Bj penn. Also, lee didn't limit his ideas to body When he said a fighter should like water he alluded to mental flexibility.

@MichelMilon84 only thing available was non-contact karate. non-contact didn't interest him, he would rather spar all out with protective gear, oh like mma fighters do today. he would diet and strength and circuit train, oh like mma fighters today. strong enough to hold 120lbs infront of him with arms locked out for seconds while having enough coordination to snap a dime off your hand b4 you can close it, while throwing .05 second strikes, ufc doesn't call him grandmaster of mma for his acting.

@MichelMilon84 - Damn you sound so fucking stupid! Bruce laid out the path for so many future martial artist by teaching to not go by tradition and mix what you learn. The Gracie family contributed as well with their martial art but there were other styles that give GJJ/ BJJ a run for their money such as Catch Wrestling. GJJ is basically Judo just with a few added techniques so that's why Judo has kicked their ass in the past. Anderson Silva is the greatest in MMA no doubt!

@chiconspiracy bruce never trained for rules, he even admitted its illegal to have a fight in hong kong, im a fan of silva and i even think he'll take belfort, fact is bruce had power, another fact is that his punches were recorded at .05 seconds, i know for sure in the octagon with rules bruce loses though he should since the weight ratio and new training methods make it unfair, but without rules silva might get his knee cap smashed kicked in the nuts, or his eyes poked out.

No, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not directly derived from Jiu-Jitsu. Judo is derived from Jiu-Jitsu. A pupil of Kano (founder of Judo) went to Brazil to teach Judo, but had a falling- out with his master and decided to modify the art and call it Jiu-Jitsu again, that's the origin of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

To the people who didn't realize this. Anderson is not making fun of Bruce Lee. He is a fan of Bruce himself. Bruce was a martial artist before his time. If he was around today, he would be at the top of one of the major MMA promotions no doubt. He had some ground game as well, but mainly just defensive. I'm sure Anderson Silva grew up watching the Bruce Lee movies just like many of us did. Bruce was a legend, without him, martial arts would be very different.

You may think MMA Fighters are really strong, but since they are a MMA Fighters they should use more techiques without beeing Jiu-Jitsu and Boxe ( in most of UFC) plus, they have no flexibility at all as Bruce. A good fighter needs to be Strong, Fast and Flexible (and a couple of more maybe..) that's why they can't avoid most of the attacks without beeing with their own bodies THUMBS UP if you agree with me!..

When Bruce did boxing, he used techniques that worked, don't compare personal styles with sports. Also some mma fighters have major flexibility. Look at Bj penn. You can't compare the two since lee is dead, but that's an example of fighters are flexible. Also, lee didn't limit his ideas to body When he said a fighter should like water he alluded to mental flexibility.
