  • LOL One speed you say...... That is know as "across the line" starting.

  • love the torque, what did it cost for parts?

  • as soon as I saw the road i new it was Australia.

  • how do i do that, i dont know

  • I'd take a 555 timer and some mosfets and make a pwm controller for that thing. Nice power!

  • how/ where did you put the bearings for the starter moto?r

  • @skootb2 hi there i made some bearing housing and bolted at the front bit hard to explain i can send you picture my email peko01@optusnet.com.au

  • Ready? 3.. 2.. 1.. 0:07!

  • i would get a license plate for that saying "WHP-LSH"

  • I'm also making a gokart from a 24v starter motor. Can you please tell me what company it is from. And what modifications did you make to the motor. If possible make a tutorial. Thanks.

  • @suranjanotti i replaced bush with bearings had to make housing for bearing ad bolt to starter bit of mucking around i have a lathe

  • is this in australia ?

  • @hiruna1 yes it is

  • @hiruna1 yes it is

  • @hiruna1 yes it is

  • lllllllllllllammmmmmmmmmmmmeeeee

  • nice work

  • WAY 2 GO POINDEXTER, AN ON / OFF SWITCH ARE YOU SERIOUS, THATS NOT A GO-KART, THATS A TRIP TO THE E.R. GET A REHOSTAT FROM A GOLF CART

  • does the motor get hot?

  • @robiniroven no cause i replace bush with bearings

  • that thing hauls!

  • with pulse width modulation, where can you find a mosfet capable of handling over 100 amps? or triode etc

  • @fairyheli2

Try digikey? or wire a couple MOSFETS in parallel with appropriate heatsinking...

  • use lipo battery cost 25 usd now , use 2 for make 24 volts , it's will be cheaper and less heavy than this big acid lead . maybe just 5OO gram , see my channel have many motor and bicycle

  • @pochul Your only using a 10 ah battery in your video, he is using 2 100 ah batteries. The cost of 2 100 ah lithium batteries would be in the thousands of us dollars.

  • @rbneville not at all , bcuz the lipo battery 3O C can give 1O amp X 3O = 3OO amp peak

    24 v x 3OO amp = 72OO watts of power ( i doubt that r motor need 3OO amp peak )

    if u have lead acid , when u have 1OO amp/h in real u have 5O ah even less if u push to much(due at peukert effect) and weight is high !! , and lead acid don't give 3O C maybe 5 C max , my lipo is 48 volts 1O ah 15 C = 7200 watts capable too . 48 v 1O ah = 24 v 2O ah ,= 48O w/h of capacity,i think for price of 2 big acid200 $

  • Also, as a side, I'd like to add small headlights and tail lights. Doable? Hats off to you!

  • Hello, This is a simple 24v truck starter motor? What are the exact specs of the batteries used and how many? Can this run off of a single or dual used lead acid batteries? Specs? How to recharge? Is it possible to regulate the speed similar to regular accelerator pedal? NICE WORK!

  • @pthouse1 these are 2 x100amp hour deep cycle battaries which i recharge with a normal car battary charger

  • @pthouse1 How did you make a throttle or is it just on and off. My buddy and I are gonna make one out of an old electric go kart. I was thinking about using a variable resistor. Any ideas.

  • @XxSylentChaosxX

wikipedia: pulse width modulation. if you don't understand a concept this basic, you really shouldn't be doing a project that involves moving parts or wires.

  • @vov35 I figured it out thanks though. Sarcasm was a bit rude. let me tell you something. I am into High power rocketry. I do everything build circuits for flight cameras, altimeter, accelerometer, pressure, the circuits that know when to set the charges to deploy the parachute. I have built a high pressure ball valve using the spring from a car window, that was used to dump nitrous oxide. All personally hand made on a mill and lathe. I understand. Just wondering if there were more ways asshole

  • @XxSylentChaosxX

That was legitimage concern for your safety. Inviduals who do not know of PWM and consider a variable resistor suitable for high powered applications are unlikely to treat high powered electronics correctly. Especially with the rheostat, I didn't want some 12 year old starting a fire. (which I may have assumed you were...)

  • @vov35 IF that was your true concern, I apologize for the the rudeness of my reply. For your information, I am 19. Graduated with 11 different science credits. Mostly physics. You must understand why I thought a variable resistor. I don't deal much with high power electronics. I know circuits and such. This was just a side project I wanted to do with a buddy. I knew there had to be a different way of doing things with high power. That is why I asked the question. I was doing my research homework

  • Hi, nearly a year on now, how is it going? Hope it is still working! Have you tried a really simple speed controller like they used in old trams? It's a series of (very) heavy duty resistors and a simple switching arrangement, not so much of a sliding throttle but stepped, but still better than going straight on to full power, and this will extend range and reduce heat in the motor. Not sure where to get ahold of them these days but they are simple.

  • @alexarcano i havent used it since then but i would like to put a speed controller the one you mentioned sounds ok my email is peko01@optusnet.com.au

  • that was fast good job.

  • @knowthytruth thanks

  • What's it's top speed in mph?

  • @Sheograthkiller dont know sorry

  • what do you do or how do you keep starter from melting

  • @carnage6ar why will starter melt

  • how many bateries? is this possible with 12v car starter?

  • @kppteam with 12v starter no good to slow no power

  • Dear Santa........

  • Nice one..so how hot does she get, how long can you use it for??

  • @stdavross666 dosent get to hot and can use it for 30 min

  • Very respectable build. An electric cart without spending hundreds on a large DC motor.

Something like this would be perfect to build for a kid to use and learn basic building concepts on.

    Well done

  • i made 1 by myself, used smaller 1,3kw starter and i have ran it over 50 minutes straight with 2x 62ah car batterys in very hard contitions-up hill 30km/h

it heated up in 10 seconds around 130 degreeds C.

and then i used 130Ah truck battery and it just melted totally. gf :D

  • @TechLaine thats why you should go 24v

  • @crazyguykdawg no pedal just hit the switch

  • how heavy is your go kart ?

  • @TheLEOFLAT33 dont know

  • @TheLEOFLAT33 the only heavy thing are the batteries

  • How long does the starter last?

  • @musclekid13 its a truck starter motor

  • @protorana1 Ok? No one cranks over a motor for more than a minute though to find out how long the starter will go for.

  • @musclekid13 a long time its a motor

  • Try to use a timing belt. they don't slip because they have teeth, and they reduce friction, increasing speed and making it allot quieter.

  • @RChero1010 its chain driving it wont slip

  • well, im 16 i have no welder but i could get 1, i build a gokart that had 2,4kw starter motor on it, it dint go fast at all maybe 30km/h.all frame was bolted together lol...

but now i want to build a electric scooter or moped w/e but still, i need to buy a motor that is maybe 20-50$ but its hard to get 1 in estonia and theres almost no shiping for east europe.

i belive that if i could put 2,4kw starter on like 30 kg moped it would go around 70km/h thumb up so he could read it please.

  • Omg do you live aus?

    How do you make this?

  • @MrSwiftyKills a lot of trail and error

  • badass!

  • year just wondering how fast this thing goes and how much run time it gets off a couple of truck bateries

  • @arsnic101 maybe 45 min

  • 24 volt truck starter motor 6.7 kw no controller very quick

  • what motor have you used

  • @payam1995 24v truck starter motor

  • @protorana1 Have you tried higher voltage?

  • OMG this is what ive been looking for! PLEASE tell me what brand the motor is along with the controller. Thanks!

  • @FASTTRAXXAS That looks like a Bosh shifting armature starter motor from a truck or generator

  • nice i was looking for a starter type gocart for ideas . i like this . i bet it just flies .
