Completely untrue. Government sponsored corporatism and the Federal Reserve coupled with ever growing and crippling regulation did all that. Capitalism has created the most advanced and successful economies and societies in world history. Corporatism and socialism take those same economies and societies and destroy them.

I generally agree with Mr Schiff on almost all his proposals but on this one and the idea that we should turn off the govt spigots right now is not very smart. We cannot allow the economy to get into a free fall we are too vulnerable. We have to slowly start cutting government expenses as we muddle through this economic malaise. We have to reduce regulation as it pertains to business and jobs in America and we should start with the energy sector. We have to import less and produce more.

Taxation has to go with that decrease in regulation. Turning off the spigots and stopping the printing press and excess taxation may cause some immediate pain but continuing it will make the pain MUCH MUCH worse in the long run.

Inheritance tax is very important. Once the rich have most of the money it will be impossible to compete with them for any asset. We will back to feudalism. The question is at what level to begin collecting it and what percentage we should collect. Oh and thanks to Peter we can give some additional tax credit to those that leave a "business" as opposed to a villa in the south of France.
