  • Oh dear . . I always found Margaret O'Brien so grating and irritating (and this crying scene went on way too long). Wasn't crazy about Shirley Temple either:) But both talented - no doubt.

  • @cloudywoods You don't like Margaret O'Brien or Shirley Temple ! What are you some kind of psycho or something !

  • Ahh, Peter is the cutest!

  • When she cries it makes me want to go grab my grandbaby and hug her tight!

  • I have never seen this. Thank you so very much!

  • Margaret O'Brien brings such a universal innocence to this role. coupled with a child's desperate survival technique, that the horror of war is made more urgent and personaly destructive than in many more sweeping adult war pictures. She brings it right into your personal space. Definitely the best child actress.

  • In that second scene, she acted alot like Shirley Temple.

  • I remember this from years ago. I was able to copy it to disk today from tcm, along with Canterville Ghost, Meet Me In St. Louis, and Secret Garden.

  • Love this movie. Wish the entire film were posted to Yt.

  • She reminds me so much of my granddaughter.

I have always loved this movie and Margaret O'Brien. I wish you could put all of the movie on here.

  • Best. Child. Actress. Ever!

  • she is too adorable

  • Thanks for sharing this - this is a great movie and she deserved to be catapulted to stardom because of it. She was really incredible and this is the one and only movie scene that still makes me tear up every single time I see it.

I recently saw an interview with Ms O'Brien - she could cry on cue just by working herself up to it. Incredible. Thanks!

  • anyone got hm pullen esquire with Robert Young?

  • wonderfully done

  • man, i love this movie. The whole first crying scene with Margaret O'Brien where she's searching for her mother in all the faces in the room...I completely lose it. She was such a brilliant child actress...thank you for the clips!
