Thank you for your post. I love the description of the course you shot. I sounds like a lot of fun. I just shot the Australina 3DAAA Nationals near Coffs Harbour and the course was absolutely picturesque. I had only ever done a 3D course with a sighted recurve once before. So the nationals was real challenge for me. And I Loved it. And I did better than I expected too. I am so hooked on 3d shooting now. I use Hoyt Helix with a moveable sight - the same bow I use for FITA target shootin
Congrats! If you're ever in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu, you should plan to bring your bow and come visit us at the Bushwackers Archery Club in Kapolei. Better yet...you could plan a trip around one of our 3-D Animal Tournaments and compete. :)
@dsherbon wow. for a person whose representing a bow shop and who works in the lead department as you say, you're complaining about a fellow female placing rather than encouraging to get better? ouch. It's as if you think my medal was handed to me. Squeezing my balls here. wow. haha. The women in this division have to score high just to even place. but sure i understand, there was definitely double the amount of men competing compared to the women. yet still, ouch.
@LuckyYogi i was not being biased or anything im just saying that this is a sport that is poorly boosted among womens sports, they are just as capable as men, but the sport is drooling with men, and anything with a bow gets labled as manly and considered taboo among most women so i was not discrouraging just lending some advise that women may soon dominate the sport
@dsherbon With that statement, you sure did clean up well. Well spoken from a true lead. Something I'd expect from a gentleman with expertise. I'd be careful what you say which represents yourself as a "Lead bow tech" and a person working for a pro bow shop. What shop do you work for?
Their is nothing in the world like bowhunting Whitetale's You will be hooked for life! This year I got a PSE Dream Season, Couldnt afford a mathews z7 :) but I have always shot PSE bows and was way over due for a new one.
Your anchor point does looks good. If you want to change your draw length to 25, you could straighten your right hand out to make it more confortable, and make it more like your original anchor point. thats what i did. I'm also getting a new hoyt crx 32 soon. can't wait for that XD!!
Bow hunting is a experience of a life time. It helps if you put trail cameras out well before the season. by the way, dear hunting in california isnt that good. Well, hopes this helps :)
thats good, hoped you enjoyed mountain biking. increasing your draw length will increase your speed on your bow, if you do increase your draw length, you might change your anchor point. For my anchor point. my right hand right is right under my ear, and put the string on the tip of my noes. opposite for a lefty like you. its easier if you see it. the Hoyt crx 32 is the bow im going to get next. Can't wait for that XD.
its a good thing that your husband told you to get your bow lol. you should look in to a hoyt bow. the hoyt crx 32 is one of the best bows i shot. By looking at your video, you could straighten your right arm out. that might help out alittle. by straighting your arm out, it may change your anchor point if you choice to do this Overall, i don't think your a noob. winning second place at a competition is pretty dang good for just starting out. Well, hope my tip helps out and keep on practicing :)
@langbui5 actually it's me who wants to bow hunt, not my husband. I asked him to buy a bow so we could be together since I practice a lot. He still won't hunt deer with me tho. He'll do small vermin. The draw length on my bow is pretty short and I'm pulling it all the way. One of the guys at the shop did that. Instead of getting it fixed asap I was in a haste to compete. My anchor point, after a week of sighting, was the only point that worked. I'm going to see about increasing my draw
@langbui5 length to 25. It does bother me. I could increase my potential energy on the limbs. Hoyt bows are awesome for sure. Big time bows. One day...one day... Thanks for the tips and compliments. Anyway off to sleep. Finally got to fresno. Going mountain biking on some trails today.
Just watched your vid about you fitting a slip on to your ninja, I have a 1997 ninja too. Anyway, i assumed you'd be fat, working on your bike and actually having one, so I had a peek at this vid.. Your actually quite fit, spot on :) x
@forestfresh Hahaha! Well that's not fair. Only fat chicks are allowed to be handy? ;) with that said. Don't forget to check out my other vids where I placed 3rd in bowhunter class. You'll get a full profile of me :p I thank you for you curiosity. Haha. And your final verdict.
By the way, to not destroy your shoulder, do NOT crank up your bow limbs more than a half a turn for a week of shooting. Instead, try a quarter turn for each limb once every 2-3 weeks of shooting. If your elbow or shoulder starts hurting it may because of too much poundage adjusted to your draw wt.
@DXTBOW I am an athlete. Even 2 years out of college, I continue to train. I do endurance rides, mountain biking, kayaking, etc. I am surprisingly strong. haha. A lot of people are shocked I could pull a bow at 47lbs comfortably. Thank you for the advice. It is very excellent advice since it is what I already follow. Slowly I'll reach up to 55, I'm in no hurry.
Seems like your Passion bow is working out for you quite well...what kind of sight you're using for that bow? Hmmm....I can't seem to remember the Bernoulli Principle....
Congratulations to 2nd place, that ist great! 3D is really a lot of fun. I tend to destroy too much arrows at trees and stones though. :-) I like your cat. Quite a lot of fur to stroke. :-)
@hmpeter Agreed. Definitely was a lot of fun. Where do you shoot at? THe obstacles alone encourage you to do your best. I can't afford to lose any arrows! hahah. Yeah, Bernoulli is definitely loveable and hugable. Huge teddy bear, but definitely spoiled by my husband. haha.
As a uni student I can´t afford it either. Since my club is 'traditional' oriented, the handcrafted wooden arrows aren´t that expensive. But they will sometimes scatter into pieces when hitting a rock or a tree with the shaft.
We shoot at an old gravel pit which is now overgrown by grass and trees here in northern germany. Offers height differences of several meters for some shooting positions (up and down), which is really fun.
@hmpeter ahhhh college...wow the course sounds really awesome. Definitely must take a vid. I'm always super stoked to communicate with people outside the states and seeing what its like on the other side. I might make a video of this weekends competition in san diego.
@FaithfulTrigger Trust me I definitely want to film me riding downhill. we're going through a phase. We haven't ridden in a couple months. Been asking my husband if we could go back up to Fresno. Trails there are awesome. There's a couple in San Diego too that I've ridden. They will be filmed eventually. All in good time. Thanks, I was super stoked and hahha, again, have to represent kawi.
