Nice layout. Some things to consider. I would ditch the grip tape for real stairs. Grip tape wears out and it will be hard on your feet. Think of the stairs as an investment of both time and money. They will last. Also just remember that the larger your windows the harder is will be to heat the cabin. For efficacy I would go with double pane argon filled windows. Once again an investment. Good luck!
nice idea on the design but dont u think its a bit squished i think the bed room should be on the top floor and not like a buk bed and u should hav some rooms instead of one room that has everyting in it and nice i dea about the top covering half of the caben for heat . and one i dea if u hav a vie put a huge i maen huge windows or windows where the kitchen is
don't be calling me stupid! atleast i don't be mean to people! and you need to be sorry you stupid little mud-eating person! calling me stupid! like your queen elizabeth!
oh yeah! and i'm a 10 year old (using my brother's account) girl who makes her houses from cardboard! oh yeah! how do you like them apples! and you can't change me! and i made a elevator and everything! atleast i was taught not to ju to people! and no matter what you say.. i can do anything i put my mind to! so i can rant all i want for you care! and you know what!? THERE'S NOTHING YOU DO ABOUT IT! YOU CHICKEN NUGGET!
@webkinzrock1091 dude, your profile says you're from the US. If so, you should know how to write "at least" - saw you mistaken twice. Please, go suck on your fat momma's ugly wrincled tities and handshake your dad's dick and sign out of the fucking youtube! FUCK YOU!
dude, you are an incredibly stupid man! your video is useless and very stupid and your whole house idea is the stupidest thing i've ever seen! go masturbate somewhere and forget those fucking stupid ideas! This scale-model just sucks!
I wanted to overlook what you have done but i couldn't. It's utterly stupid! And people who are liking your idea and you're gay-looking model are fucking retarded! Go read an architecture book or something fags!
@RHCPsTv atleast he tried! i bet yours is much more horrible! i would like to live in it myself! so go insult somebody else! and you know what! your the retard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha! IN YOUR FACE!
@webkinzrock1091 well, I'm a retard that studied architecture so no matter what you say, you can't know better than me. I don't have a log cabin, just found the movie looking throw other wooden houses just for fun cause I don't really like wood houses. And really, stop trying to become GoRambling's hero because his idea is really stupid, that whole bending in the living room thing is crazy, I know what I'm talking about!
I think you will like it for 2 weeks and then the shortcomings will drive you mad.
Bending over in a living room is a bad idea, especially if you ever get a back injury. The angled board instead of steps is a bad idea if you ever get a foot injury.
Remember, its Alaska, and the area is rugged country and not smooth concrete and pavement and ankles get twisted and backs get sore especially if you are chopping and hauling nearby wood for heat. Multiply the occurance of injuries by 2 if you're 40+
I like the bed being over an area meant for SITTING -- very nice. A lot of these tiny cabins are having space under the bed purely for storage, but I think this is better, kind of a loft. Could have a closet under that ramp of yours.
I would lose the fireplace in favor of a hi efficiency wood stove. and solar tubes work really well for lighting. also make sure you have easy roof access if you ever have to clear snow or ice between bad storms.
i really like the coziness of this! im keeping it in mind for when i build my own place. it wont be exactly like this, but i could definitely use the living-room-under-bed idea. i would then suggest that you make the second floor more of a shelf-type loft than a whole floor. ive been in a barn type house where the second floor was only half the area of the house, it was much much nicer to be able to see up there, and vice versa. but overall, very comfy design!
3. Foundation:Your vapor barrier needs to be on the warm side of the insulation in your foundation. Inside, not outside. The moist, warm air will migrate through the insualation and be trapped against the plastic causing all kinds of problems. The moist air needs to have away out Also, you will spill, leak or have doggy accidents, do you want that draining down into your insulation? I would foget the vertical posts if you have no experience. Beams shrink big time. Build horizontal, logs settle.
.2, Make the foot print larger, open up the rooms and drop the 5ft ceiling/sitting area idea. Winters are long and dark, you dont want to sit in a box for 8 months of the year. A single story, larger cabin will be simpler to make and safer and probably cheaper with less head aches. No ladders to climb, no lifting heavy beams up 18ft. No falls. Every aspect of building will be simplied. Heat, water, utilities are are easyier to install. My current cabin is 20x40 and so roomy and easy to care for.
As some one that has lived in alaska since 1982, built several cabins and seen the good and the bad. This would be fun design if it was a guest cbain or a play cabin for the kids, but I see several fundemental problems with your design. 1, Your going to roast in the winter with your bedroom/loft idea. In an area this small in order to stay warm down stairs when its -20 or colder, the stove is going to being going all the time. Hot air rises. It well be 70 down stairs and 85 upstairs.

skip the small living room with loft and use the upper flore as a bedroom, I'm sure you'll be much more comfortable

cool! I used sketchup to design. Complete with dimension. I buy my wood cut with my specs. I just assemble it. Less worry

Where in Alaska? Why not go with 10' logs for the walls and have 7' or so for the livingroom?
