Very, very nice car! But 100% original? I don't think so. Somebody repainted the engine and decided to spray the A/C compressor the same color...these compressors should be black, not blue.
There is overspray on the PVC hose on the left side valve cover, clearly not original.
Also there is a red, non original, heater hose. Heater hoses shpuld be black ofcourse. I don't try to be a smartass but I just know this stuff.
@Ynzevdz I used to have a 1973 New Yorker with 89k all original and put on 30k and sold it, never had a problem till the tranny gave out but it was 35 years old at the time and I was a kid. I dont know much about them but they are great and when they build these cars it was common to have over sprey on some parts but I am not saying this was or not.
My father and I each bought a new Newport in '70. His engines internal oil pump failed at nearly 36,000 miles a year and a half later. Though in warranty, he traded for a New Yorker. Mine also failed at nearly 36k, still in warranty. As I was taking it to a dealer years later for a trade, the same thing happened as I coasted into the driveway. Mileage? 73,609. Never bought a Chrysler product since.
I know where there is a 1970 Eldorado with 289 miles on it. When I worked for the Caddy dealer.. She would call to get started, because it sat so long and killed the battery,, When it was in the shop we had to blow the carbs out on the hwy to get it to run right.
I'm surpized that the engine has not locked up on it sitting so long with such low miles on it thats a rare one of a kind 70 Newport it would make a great Copy car for a restoration of another one like that in the prosses .
DAMN!LOL! I WAS serious, BTW! Anyway, does your car have the "Aztec" insignia on it somewhere? I forget when they stopped putting that on the Newports. I spent 4 years at Minot AFB, so, I don't think I'll be going!LOL! "Freezin's the Reason"! Have fun at the car show!
The best thing about this car is that it was garaged and there appears to be zero rust. That's so rare for these Chryslers-they had awful rubber trim and seals which were promote rust in any state if water leaked and sat any place in the car. The engine blue color is correct but not the A/C or other external engine parts. They were originally black. Would love to know what this sold for.
Somebody definitely went a little nuts with the blue paint. Plus the missing black paint on the rad around the rad cap makes me think this car has been overheated. It doesn't get that way on it's own.
i have a 71 fury the front end looks just like that but it has the hideaway headlamps. mine isnt in nearly the condition of this car but i only paid $500
I owned the same exact car, without the A/C and the itty bitty signal blinkers, sometime in the mid 90's. I bought it for about $500 in Brooklyn NY, and drove it for about a year. I called it a sofa on wheels, because that's what it was. It rolled on the highway like an ocean wave, and actually felt almost too comfortable as I could never feel the road underneath me. It broke down once on a road trip when the alternator died. She's the last of the Mohicans, Chrysler Newportwise.
Hi, the car sold for $12,500. It would of gotten more but the history is great but it does take away from the value. If it still was the original paint on it with the original Vin # still entact it would have been in the mid to upper $30,000 range. I saw a 1972 120 original mile Buick staton wagon that was untouched go for $42,000 I could not belive it but it did. Thanks, Marty
Beautiful!

You have to use leaded gas for this beauty.Otherwise you will mess up the valve seats.Or have to have the valve seats replaced with hardened ones.
Socialism is on the horizon.Cars are getting smaller and more dangerous, and their prices are higher.BRRR!
I want the old America back.

I owned a 69 model 4 door, spent all its life in bakersfield until I bought it in 1988.
Drove it around for quite a while.
A huge car.
Bit late now but a strip and rebuild of engine is wise on old beauties like this.
The oilseals get hard and perish.
383 also had plastic timing wheel thing as I remember being told by a mechanic.
