My cousin sprints the max speed plus max incline (15% incline 12 MPH) on the treadmills at my gym, he same height as you and would call you pathetic for running at a decline no offense. A decline is just an excuse to make running easier. You make me laugh.
THE THING 4 ME IS I USUALLY WORKOUT INBETWEEN BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AND I DON'T TGHINK I TAKE IN ENOUGH CALORIES; I PROBABLY BURN SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 400-550 BUT THE OATMEAL I EAT I THINK IS INSUFFICIENT. THEN TEHRE'S CEREAL WHICH TASTES BETTER BUT NOT AS HEALTHY, THEN THERE'S EVERYTHING ELSE WHICH IS NOT GOOD 4 U
5 DAYS A WEEK I RUN A MILE IN 6:40, DO SOME WORKOUTS, THEN DO ANOTHER MILE IN 6:40
I'VE LOST LIKE 15 POUNDS IN 2 WEEKS SO I GOTTA CUT DOWN; I'M DOING A MILE IN 6:40 THEN A HALF-MILE IN A 6:40 PACE. I ALSO GET SHIN-SPLINTS SOMETIMES SO YEAH
my warm up is 5 minutes on 3mph, then run 5 minutes on 5mph then back to 3mph for 5 minutes then 5 minutes on 5mph non stop i do this for 20 minutes and then i take a 10 minute break after that i do it all over again for 20 minutes, 40 minutes on the treadmill
Hello! Have you considered intellectus 424 diet (do a search on google)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my father lost tons of weight with it.
Hi, isn't it bad for you if you're running at such a high speed and then stopping right away? Not trying to criticize or anything; I'm just wondering.
hey man! great video! i just wanna ask u if it is ok to do this type of cardio interval training right after i do some heaving weight lifting? thanks :D
hey man! great video! i just wanna ask u if it is ok to do this type of cardio interval training right after i do some heaving weight lifting? thanks :D
Hi there, I was wondering, after doing the warm up and running with ok speed for say, 10 mins, is it good to set the speed really high, run as long as you can and then jump off the trademill, like standing on a sides of it, rest a bit then jump back on same high speed and do that routine for a while. Is it any good in terms of fat burning and interval training? thank you!
You made it 40 seconds. Today I was doing 12 mph at 6-7% inclines for a minute with 13 intervals. One of the better running videos I've seen though most dont run over 20 seconds at 12 mph.
I bought an interval timer and set it up for 1 min exercise 30 seconds rest and I do it jumping rope 14 times and it's a killer workout. I did it because I heard you can burn more fat doing that than 60 minutes walking or running.
Hi Darin, I've watched almost all of your videos and I follow your advices. But I have a question for you about this interval trainings. You say it's best to do them in the morning on empty stomach. This will certainly burn fat, but does it also burn muscle? I do intervals 20 seconds sprint and 10 seconds slow run and I do it for 10-15 minutes. After that I take my protein shake and 1 hour later I eat a decent meal with carbs and protein. Am I doing it right?
@fatlosslifestyle Thanks or the video. I just wanted to know if it's O.K to do high intense cardio everyday? I lift weights 3-4 times a week. Would Ioose muscle? Please let me know!!!
Thanks for the vid! Very quick question, how many of these 60 seconds intervals (in high intensity) is the appropriate? and also, how many minutes should I keep down (on 3.5 mph for example) before hitting the next high intensity run?
Im an aspiring MMA fighter and cardio is very important... I have a treadmill and run on a treadmill everyday 5 miles on the 5mph setting and this has caused me to get in good shape.. bu right now im at a plateua in my cardio and was wanting any suggestions on how I can improve...
Hey this guy is legit man. Hes worked his whole life to have that body. He is educated on this stuff. He wrote a book on fitness and nutrition. A person who uses steroids doesn't know much about health and fitness they just go stick, pump metal, get thick.
when ever i do cardio, i am worried that i am gonna start burning muscle mass. what kind of cardio do you think i shoud do just to burn fat and still bulk up at the same time?
Awesome to watch. Very inspirational. I'm getting a treadmill so I can do interval training on it in the winter (I'm in New Zealand so winter's nearly upon us). Thanks for the insight.
Excellent video, I have a quick question, I'm just getting back into my gymming routine. I used to love interval running and am very much looking forward to getting back into it. However the method I used was slightly different, it consisted of a total of 12 mins, alternating between 13.5kph and 10.5kph every minute. Is the method you've shown in this video more effective and would it be more beneficial for me to switch to this method in your opinion. Thanks and keep up the great work :)
I lost 40 lbs doing cardio nd eating right....after dat i realized dat WTH my numbers on the weigh scale arent going down, did lot of research, realized it was time for me to change my cardio routine....started doing dis about 2 months agoo...sprint..walk..sprint..walk....4 1/2 miles/hr....HAHA guess wat my #s r going down. I love dis workout. And yes obivously keep ur diet clean. Dis will work, Thanks for sharing man...I did catch some gud pts which does make sense to me nd I will follow them.
I start with: 1min walk 4min jogging hop off and stretch 1 min walk 1 min sprint level 1 2 min walk (rest) 1 min sprint level 2 2 min walk (rest) 1 min sprint level 3 2 min walk (rest) 1 min sprint level 4 (maximum sprint) 2 min walk (rest) Continue with level 4 sprint + 2min walk (rest) until I reach 30 minutes. Am I doing this right? Thanks again for the videos
This video is ok but the key to this video is advanced... intervals are not meant for beginners. Check out customizedworkoutplans (.com) for the best blog for fitness and lifestyle
Also, I would rather look smaller but be able to life more because it does not make you look like a meat head like all those supplement junkies at the gym. Not saying that supplements are bad, but when you start relying heavy on them and taking them year round without a break it is probably not the best thing for your system. Just see it a lot the gym thats all. Gl on this workout everyone
ah ah thats funny I just stared to do this workout before I saw this video a few weeks ago. I play soccer over the summer and I find that when i run in Oct/Sept I am slow as hell but this workout really kicks the bugs out of my system. Also, to answers your question bullnindog do cardio after workout is good just have days were u only do cardio if you want to improve on your cardio alot. Personally, I do his cardio workout before I start on my weights when I have an easy lifting day.

when u run do u land ur feet flat on the ground or the tip of ur toe first i know so many people some of them say u land with ur feet flat on ground, thanks
Well as alway there is more than one answer. On short intense sprints of less than 90 seconds I like to run at a slight decline (3 degrees) because of this I land on my heel and then role to the balls of the toes.
If I am running flat or incline I will switch to landing on the ball of the toes in an attempt to let my leg and hip muscles absorb the shock of each stride versus the bones and joints.
Hi Darren, first off i would like to say good job with all your videos. Very good stuff and info for everyone. I have a question though, is doing cardio like twice a day too much? Like going once in the morning doing an hour of cardio on the bike then like later on around 6, 7pm doing another hour and maybe some lifting. Is that pushing it?
I'm sure Darren can give you better information but here is my opinion. I am not a fan of long cardio sessions. Especially and hour long. I feel that intense interval training lasting 20-30 minutes is much more beneficial for burning fat, building muscle, and boosting your metabolism. also i feel that doing an extensive amount of cardio before lifting just ruins your energy and potential to grow and building muscle from lifting.
of course i could be wrong and i would wait for Darrens opinion
I feel the same way, If I do intensive cardio before weight lifting I loose a lot of energy and power in my lifts, and doesnt get the nice and tight feeling in the muscles. I like do to it seprate though, like if start the morning with bicycling or interval jogging, then its ok, just not before weight lifting.
