lol at the weird sound at 0:11 when we watched this in class for a school assignment, we couldn't stop laughing at that sound. our teacher said it sounded like a chicken getting its head cut off haha
Great video. The situation with Wivenhoe got pretty bad during last year. The pictures that you took on February 9th were very interesting. It was good to see the grass around the dam a but greener and the dam with slightly more water in it. 5 stars.
i remember when Bob Broadbridge proposed to upgrade Hinze Dam (Gold Coast) years and year ago but he got voted out of office. And now we have had years of water restrictions as a result of a Beattie Government that did a fairly poor job of governing this state for the last 10 years. And yet Tweed Heads just across the border has had no water restrictions.
Not for a while yet... when I made this, Wivenhoe was at 18% capacity. Now it's at 17%!
Somerset Dam (the next dam) is the one that's gone up significantly - now at 52% after being down to about 24%. We really need some more falls in the Wivenhoe catchment. On the Gold Coast, Hinze Dam is now overflowing after being below 60% just a few weeks ago.
I really hope Wivenhoe doesn't keep missing out on this seemingly excellent wet season!!
I know who is to blame for SE QLD running out of water: Deputy Premier Anna Bligh. Repeatedly in September 2006 and November 2006, she rejected engineer's recommendations to build a 550 ML/day desalination plant that would adequately supply Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast with water in a water supply emergency. However, Bligh continually presses on with Traveston Dam as a solution, but it would still be drought affected and take many years to fill and become operational.
Federal and all the state governments of Australia are totally corrupt. They aren't governing anymore; they are running a sort of commercial operation involving massive land-speculation and they would see us all starve without feeling anything. Our governments think of themselves as another caste. We are nothing to them.
Now it's at 180% and overflowing........what a ontrast.
