  • @MrTwotuff check my videos fag

  • The guy in this video is a fucking idiot I promise you I never have gone over 205 and my legs look way fucking better. Stop EGO lifting and put some real work in.

  • Amazing strength!

  • the bar is bending dickweeds.

  • 585lbs lunges. DAAAAAAAAyyyehm!!! :O

  • guys i think its real cuz i can lunge 495 and i only weigh 120 ill post a video

  • @fitnessbeast4 Never in a million years could you! I promise this

  • do the ends reallly justify the means on this one... just do 315 or something

  • glad to see some strong bodybuilders in the game, unlike some who need assistance doing pullups.

  • I don`t want to a hater or something but isn`t it better to walk few steps from the Rack and do the lunges instead of walk all the way he does to do only one rep or two? Anybody think same?

  • @MrPrimetime79 its cuz he's stronger than you

  • no fukn way thats 585 lool at the way he's jerking around with the weight no wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Where is the blue suit with the S on the chest ?!?

  • those are real plates... Iron Grips and IGX1 (the new iron grips)

  • I've been in the same gym few years ago. Those plates are 10kg each. The whole thing there is 140kg which that is 305 lbs. The dude barely does 3 reps. I suggest to tell Darrel: Eat some proper food and lunge some serious weight.

  • @rallyboyz - I was a member there from 1994 - 2008 and those are real Iron Grip 45 lb plates. I personally know Darrel and he is the real deal. I can understand the disbelief because I also did not believe this could be done until I witnessed first had. The dude is unreal!

  • No, I think they ARE 45's...the bar doesn't bend with 120 pounds loaded onto it. You have to load it up to around 500 or so to see it bend.

  • @rallyboyz if 140 kg make you bar bent then something might be wrong :DDD

  • I question mainly how he can spin with 585lbs on his back when i do this with even 185lbs the energy continues to pull you and is difficult to stop i dont know how it is possible for him to spin with that much energy and stop on a dime

  • I NEVER do lunges for the following reasons:

    1. I've yet to meet a chick that likes big cow-legs

    2. I'd look forward to having my knees still functional past the age of 50

...stick to intense cardio for legs, this is just pointless & damaging to your joint structure.

  • FUCK THIS SHIT IM OFF TO LUNGE!!!

  • This dude should be on ANIMAL Planet.

  • amazing man. it's been a while since i have seen a bodybuilder with such incredible strength.

  • That did nothing. And walking then rotating like that with that much weight upstairs is a torn ACL waiting to happen.

  • I didn't even know this was possible. Crazy. The guy lunges more than I can squat, or even deadlift.

  • awful, just hideous

  • whats the point of doing it to began with???? He is only destroying joints, cartilage and a possible tear! Be smarter about your body..

  • strong lil fucker but totally stupid and to much weight, he will fuck himself up soon, and be out of it for life, ive seen it many times, dumbasses like this

  • What the fuck is this.

  • i hate the jealous people that say its fake cause they cant do it them self

  • Lol @ people saying it's fake, you can see the bar bending!

  • damm thats a good one i have done 225 but not this is crazy mannn

  • OMG, that kid at the start......

  • Dude! Awesome work. I thought i was doin sumthin. I got 12 steps with 315! wish i could hit what you got here though. I cant even squat that much. i am 6'3though so that has a lot to do with it too.

  • Insanely strong for sure, but you have to wonder why you would max out on an exercise like a lunge. Why take that kind of risk on this type of movement?

Makes a cool YT video though...dude's definitely a beast.

  • HUMONGOUS LUNGES!

  • There is this thing I found on an ordinary round on ascension with random people were the zombies started spawning in the weird shiny, stripy, multi coloured cloths. They kind of looked like clowns. I am looking all over for videos on how that happened because I have no idea but I can not find any. Does anybody know what I am talking about?

  • nuthing buta peanut

  • lunges work alot better than squats to me

  • this is impressive and i cant do this but this s not a good idea at all!!!! take off a few plates and get some reps out of it. u dident seem very comfertable with the weight anyway. ur going to really hurt urself if u keep doing things like that. lift smart dude.

  • You gotta be fuckin KIDDING me!

  • This video is not fake i have worked out with Darell in the past and have seen him do this with my own eyes.

  • INCREDIBLE LUNGES

  • Strong as hell but i'd rather see him do squats. Keep the lunges aroung 315 for good reps after squats!

  • @wvjon75 shut the fuck up and take your own advice. nobody wants to be you...

  • This guy may be able to do this kinda weight, but I still think that he's a fucking moron for doing it. He thinks that he's He Man, but he's gonna blow out his fucking knees, ankles, lower back, etc. fucking around with this kind of weight. He's just trying to show off and it's not gonna be worth it in the long run. Just from experience.

  • @Acebeats1 He's a pro bodybuilder idiot, he's doing it for his muscularity not to impress anyone and who would care?

  • @iWorkoutToday First of all you fucking moron, there are millions of bodybuilders that are much bigger than this guy and they don't lift 585lbs lunges. So oviously it isn't necessary to lift that heavy in this type of movement you fool. You will blow your fucking knees out idiot! So since it isn't necessary to train that heavy with lunges, that's why I say that he's just trying to show off. People always pay the price sooner or later when they try to be He-Man in the gym. It's not worth it!

  • @IDEODNDC First of all you didn't come to think that it may be necessary for him, what works for him may not for others or YOU, and obviously since your so narrow minded you wouldn't have realised that, would you? Anyway why do you care???

  • @iWorkoutToday You really are a fucking idiot! I can't believe that you think this is safe. He really wasn't doing full reps in this video anyways (his boys had to help him back up). This is not how you do bodybuilding. Trust me, it isn't working for him. There are much better ways to build the glutes, quads, and hamstrings then straining 585 on your joints like this. This guys a fucking show off and inexperienced bodybuilder obviously with a mentality like this.

  • I don't know why you guys say this weight would "crush him". The truth is, it's not at all abnormal to meet somebody who competes in the 148 class that can support 600+ pounds and even lift it for partials. This guy on the other hand looks to be in the 198-220 class. Believe me he can certainly handle it. Not to mention, these are grip iron plates. Not bumper plates.

  • dang bro! scard to see wat u squat if u lungen that much! thats awesome!

  • I've never even believed that this could be done. WOW!!!

  • aint nuttin but a peanut

  • 585lb? ahaha..0.08...fakee

  • Truly one of the greatest feats I've seen in lifting in over 30 years

  • this is the most insane video I have ever seen

  • FAKE, those are bumper plates. Not steel and not 45 lbs apiece,585 would crush that dude's bones.titan500 is this dude's fluffer or something.

  • @1crazyirish - Sorry to bust your bubble, but this is a real video. The plates are Iron Grip's Urethane coated plates. 585 may crush YOUR bones, but not Darrel's. He's the real deal.

  • @titan500 - 1crazyirish probably didn't notice the massive bend in the bar, or the fact it flexed even more every time your man was in the hole. Impressive lifting.

  • @1crazyirish The taller guy spotting him needs to work his legs, he has skinny sticks, look when he squats down, no muscle on them, no wonder he is wearing sweats

  • Comment removed

  • WHAT THE FUCK

  • Ronnie coleman don't need Heavy lunges.... You need heavy squat.

  • one of the few feats of strength that i've seen in almost 20 years that actually shock me...incredible strength.

  • i cant believe it.. yeah they are really we have those at bally..

  • thats amazing!! but take a video of him squatting!!

  • I'm just wondering about doing very heavy walking lunges. Bringing so much weight down on the knee on the way down as he bounces it on the bottom of the movement. Isn't that taking tension off for a moment and putting undue stress on the ligaments on the knee? Strong as shit lift no doubt but it doesn't look safe or effective

  • @Thelog234 it has a higher degree of danger and risk but you say it doesn't look effective? training with a weight that heavy is effective and powerlifters, strongman, and some bodybuilders do it all the time for the strength aspect...

  • @TauruVikingur

I agree heavy walking lunges are very effective I'm just arguing that bringing the weight down on one knee at the bottom of the movement causes undue stress on it. In this case he's bringing 585 lbs down on his knee. Strong lift just didn't look safe bouncing the weight

  • @Thelog234 but to what degree is he bouncing it??? Not much at all...there is some momentum but it's not coming from the knee...sure it's a dangerous lift, but that's entirely different than saying his knee is getting stressed to the point of damage...they guy obviously has been training this lunge to get to that kind of strength...LUNGES WITH SIX PLATES?!!! I doubt he'd have gotten to this point if his knees were being damaged!!!

  • NOT FAKE!!!! ...sik guy nice lunges. (Y)

  • Crazy..Mad core power!!

  • Nice lift man!

  • Christ Almighty! Lunges with that weight? You are truly a beast.

  • LEGENDARY LUNGES!

  • that's murder strong...

  • holy sh1t!!!!!! nice!!!!!!

  • AWESOME; that's a real lifter right there...

  • wow

  • The Strongest Lunges on Planet Earth!!!

  • Crazy bro - that's insane strength right there. Although, I am not sure why you would even do this....

    500 stars man...

  • @enochb601 dude you need to get some pussy why the fuck would you write thast much?lame

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :)

  • @gmanthebeast1 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Thas good dude....thas real good. I mean great come back to what was written. I mean hey, I speachless. But I can say this to your response...I've been blessed with a Godly woman as my wife. Not only that, but He took care of my needs and wants in that area. She's a looker too, ssooooooooo.....k, bye!!!! :-)

  • you speechless?he takes care of your needs?so your wife is a man learn to type dum ass

  • Darrel, I love the fact that even after all the critics have their say and tell of how dumb they think you are and of what you have accomplished, you still came across as an simple, humble yet knowledgeable educator. My hat's off to you. Christ be with you and all that you do in the name of Jesus Christ.

Mr. Darrel Hobson, do your thang brother-in-Christ. We'll see you around.

  • As for all of you writing of all the other bodybuilders that are just soooo huge and you've never seen them do anything close to this, Darrel states that he has been strengthening his tendons, ligaments and all other parts together. Not getting juiced up and going to throw up some weight in order for his muscles to get big. He's doing it the right way....ALL NATURAL. That allows your entire body to better grow and strengthen as a unit not individually.

  • I can vouch for this man and the others who know Darrel that this is not fake by any means or stretches of the imagination. No, Im not on anybodys tip. I just really dont like crabs and enjoy uplifting those who raise the bar in what they do, especially if they call upon the name of Christ in order to do so while acknowledging HIM even after the gift has been given. Thats just real.

  • In order for someone to get to this point of lifting you MUST train for it. It is amazing that people that say they train and are trainers say that he's not getting a work out. Why would you say that to someone doing this extraordinary amount of weight? You should be the very one to give accolades to this guy because you know of the amount of strength, focus and conditioning it takes to achieve this.

  • He has realized that his strength has been granted to him by our LORD GOD, as you should be able to see in his posts, he acknowledges HIM in all that he does (THANK YOU MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST). This guy has always been a beast in the lifting arena. He stated in one of his posts that this is just one of the demonstrations that he uses to let people know that they should not bind themselves to what people say. Truly think outside of the box and don't put GOD in a box.

  • Darrel and I used to play football together at Pearl High School. Before getting to the high school level I always saw the name Darrel Hobson on the Power House chart in the junior high field house. None could break that record. I've forgotten how much it was then, but the name followed to the high school field house and always was on top having lifted the most weight and still none had topped it through my years of high school. To see that same, GENTLEMAN made sense of the story Seth gave me.

  • I am TRULY amazed at all of the people that criticize what this man has accomplished by saying that he doesn't know what he's doing and that it's fake and he's not getting the burn from the small amount of footage that they have seen

  • Well now, i have to say that I never thought that there would be this many nay sayers that would visit and negatively comment on Darrel's achievement of such enormous wieght, but I've sat here and read them all.

  • what did he get out of doing thaT?

  • this is SICK AS HELL!!! OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • HOLY SHIT what does this man squat/deadlift? That was insane!!

  • First you can argue all you want about how useless one rep lunges are or how its not a real lunge, the fact is this is absolutely an incredible feat of strength and coordination.

  • ASTOUNDING POWER!!!

  • Damn does this guy feel any pain lol. I think he definitly has enough weight on the bar :).

  • wow, that's the most anyone has ever squatted at my high school. i wonder what he goes to for squats?

  • Haters will always hate..any hardcore trainer would appreciate this vid. That's a beastly effort for sure...wow. Guys a freak of nature.

  • thats sick

  • again, amazing power!

  • that guy has really, really strong legs. very impressive.

  • wow that guy is crazy strong.

  • Wow hes damn strong. the best part is that little kid and his dad being like" get the hell outta here son, you're gonna get your ass crushed by 585 pounds!"

  • AMAZING POWER!!!

    GOD BLESS!

  • You freaking moron. You have no idea what you are talking about. Google search "Darrell Hobson" and you will find some photos of him on Iron Man Magazine. The guy is not "small" by any stretch of the imagination...

  • @titan500 What do you talking about? The guy is shorter than gym rack. He is like 5'5. Just look at him. I'm 6'8 and 300 pounds and this kid gonna look straight to my dick. BTW. He's walking with 600 pounds on his back like it's nothing. Hard to believe it. Even Pudzianowski gonna have a problems with this kind of weight. And he is some powerfull athlete

  • Their called CLAMPS

  • @squat4500 Dont u see the bar bending JACKASS!

  • wow great strength and power

  • hahah wtf was the point of this??? hahaha what a waste of time!

  • He was basically showing you something you will NEVER be able to do. I bet you can't squat that.

  • actually i can squat that and change actually 700+, I'm not joking I will try to put a vid, I'm not making fun of him but SERIOUSLY theres NO WAY that is more effective than doing AT LEAST 4-6 reps..IN OTHER WORDS: MAXING OUT ON "LUNGES" serves no point, there's a serious risk factor here w/ little to no benefit, and if you were his friend you would not encourage this, and you would instead give him a reality check before its too late!!

  • stfu fag

  • exactly lunges arnt a mass builder there a definition exercise, to much risk with little benfit legs usually respond better to higher reps anyway

  • lol dumbass

  • @gymratg88

3 months and you still haven't put shit up.

  • who the hell are you? sorry I haven't brought a camera to the gym. If you live near jersey come meet me up and you can watch me train, not being a dick but i just havent gotten around to it so if you want proof come meet me up

  • I havent seen this video in so long, and watching makes me fuckking cringe! such a dumb thing to do and I pray to god up and coming lifter/bodybuilders/strength athletes don't attempt making out on lunges!

  • LOL true that.

    this is insane

  • remarkable feat of strength this is...

  • AWESOME LUNGE

  • he must got a death wish

  • Impressive but.. why? Let's blow our knee out and kill a couple spotters and possibly a little kid lol.

  • I'm a freind of Darrels, but I have to so thats funny

  • spade121981 it's real weight alright, but WHY would you do this?? it's lunges...

  • I love doing lunges, try doing side lunges to they are even harder!

  • ...

  • this guy is a joke! he is obviously ignorant when it comes to training.

  • hata

  • I doubt this is even 585 thats like taking that much weight with just one leg

  • its called training! count the plates times that number by 45 then at an other 45 tell me wat you get! k?

  • could be that they aren't 45lb plates, but obviously they look like it, and nice job on finding a comment from 2 months back. Also this guy isn't that big, ronnie coleman only does lunges with 185 and he can squat and deadlift 800lbs more than once, so he is huge and super strong. Going this heavy if it is in fact the weight the video claims that is is, is just pointless and stupid.

  • all I said was that it was 585. you can tell by the bar bending and them being in a gym. and you forgot but ronni also leg presses 2,300lbs. and your wrong about being pointless. heavy leg workouts boosts your teste lvls. and its his life not yours so it might not be "pointless" for him remember that

  • I know about going heavy, I go pretty heavy in my leg workouts, but it would be much better to do heavy squats or heavy leg press heavy lunge doesn't have huge benefits, and it's real dangerous for your knees.

  • lol I thought that same thing! I mean we alll seen heavy squats and shit but lunges I was like wtf when I first saw this vid. I thought he was movie back so he can just drop the weight if he cant do it, next thing u know he doing lunges. and I think its safer to use dumbells

  • Yeah, I use dumbells and i use a barbell when i do walking lunges, but I only go up to 100lbs, and I just walk the length of the room a few times. I'd rather lift for a long time and keep my knees and injury free :p I figure if ronnie stays at 185 and just does a ton of reps, than I can work up to that slowly, no need to go to fast and get hurt.

  • very smart man :) good luck

    ELiTE

  • hah, thanks man, you too

  • It doesnt look like real weights because the bar is hardly bending at all when he takes it off the rack and look how easily he walks backwards with it .....theres many people that squat this kind of weight and ive never seen one of them walk back that easily when starting their squats with that much weight on the bar....his legs would also be much bigger if he was really handling this kind of weight......fake guaranteed.

  • Not fake. Have you ever heard of a Texas Power Bar? Those don't bend easily. I have seen this in person on more than one occassion. Darrel is a freak for sure!

  • I have heard of a texas power bar...but that bar doesnt look like one....but if he can lunge this does he have a video of what he squats?

  • this is crazy insane. and i thought ronnie coleman was crazy.

wonder what his squat is at.

and please quit posting negative comments. this guy worked hard to get this far, if u cant lunge this much , stop talking shit about him.

  • what a fucking idiot , if you gonna be a dumbfuck like that at least stay in the safety box idiot

  • Damn he should be able to squat a shit load

  • Is it impressive? Yes? Is it equally as stupid and ineffective? Yes. I don't see any reason why someone would do this other than for ego stroking. If he's a bodybuilder doing 1 rep of a lunge with 585 serves no purpose. If he's a powerlifter it serves no purpose. Freaky? Yes. Stupid as hell? Yes.

  • stupid and ineffective? you've shown us nothing...whatever your name is.

  • Tell me then what the hell someone would benefit out of doing a single lunge with 585 pounds? This guy is a bodybuilder. So why the hell is he doing a single lunge with 585? It's idiotic.

  • no, it's not idiotic, it's just beyond the scope of your method...

singles are an effective way to "stress and condition" the body for strength and muscle...used correctly it yeilds great gains, but hey, it's not absolutely necessary, but some guys (and gals) really like it...it's also a psychological gain and that's very important in strength training...

but yeah, this is a very dangerous attempt, and to me possibly the greatest feat of strength i've seen yet for obvious reasons...

  • Beyond the scope of my method? WTF? I am a competitive powerlifter and I can tell you that this was stupid. Second, if you are going to do singles lunges is not the movement you want to do them with. You have 3 rotating joints involved, and under this kind of load it makes something like this stupid.

And the greatest feat of strength on here anywhere is Bolton's 1008 deadlift and it's not even close.

  • ok ok, you're right...*pfft*

  • whatever makes you feel better about yourself...

  • Comment removed

  • there's more to strength training than competitive powerlifting...

  • for the recreational lifter, sure, lunges that are so heavy you can only do one per leg are not recommended, but in competitive athletes, it's an effective option...

    but be safe number 1...

  • I agree - theres an injury just waiting to happen, BUT that was still simply awsome. Serious strength right there!!!

  • now thats just asking for an injury, lol,

    impressive tho

  • To date, the most crazy feat of strength I have seen on you tube.

  • this is SCARY STRONG...

  • Great work...

  • Amazing.

  • This doesn't even seem possible. I don't mean to disrespect anyone but was that real?

  • Its real, trust me I work out at the same gym. The Courthouse in Flowood Ms. You are right that it does not seem possible but, its real!!!!!

  • people r considered freaky strong when they can SQUAT this...hes doin on 1 leggggggggggg , DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • Two counts of insanity. 1) Actually deciding this was a good idea. 2) Pulling it off! That was awesome!

  • As a DRUG FREE bodybuilder competing against guys on drugs all the odd has been againist me. Through CHRIST I can do all things. After 23 years of lifting and doing things the right way i have no problems with my body despite the negative comments.

    Darrel Hobson

  • yo man thats cool i feel the same way that why i pray b4 each workout and im amazed at wat i can do and at the results thank God and God bless u

  • The man! Ol Darryl representin Mississippi boy!! Haha...he's a mad man in the gym though....everybody just stops and watches him work out when he starts doin this.

  • INCREDIBLE!!!!!

  • how are there not billions of thumbsup on this shit. 585 lunge is phenominal :P

  • FINAL THOUGHT:

this is possibly the most amazing feat of strength i've seen in 31 years...
