what tools and blenders are you using? painter 11's blender reacts differently than CS3's, for some reason it exposes too much white. The color variety in this is just amazing. Just got a new intuos 4 large, excellent piece of technology

thx man. maybe there's a setting to make the blending not additive for that. i used the smudge tool a LOT and i was looking at a high res pic and matched a colour i wanted to use from it and changed it to my liking. i looked at values a lot more cause i'm colourblind. thank god for modern technology

this was done in photoshop CS3 and i'm sure that with the right technique it's possible with any art program. thing is i've never used painter before so i can't give you an unbiased view but i've learned photoshop by using it again and again and after assigning hotkeys and playing with its tools and functions a lot of things have really become second nature for me. if you want to learn it i say just try it and be curious :)

the doodles kept me from working on something else cause i was getting tired of the piece so i just doodled and went back to it. that scribbling by the gun wasn't a doodle though, my tablet stopped working and i got frustrated hehe

about 2 years now... i didn't find it hard at all and i still like using paper and pencil. the thing is when i draw i'm more focused on my lines than my hand so to not see my hand when using a tablet is no big deal for me. if it's tough but you still want to make digital art there's always the cintiq which i hope to get eventually

metroid prime is one of my favourite games too, the only one with a good looking samus imo. as far as learning goes i'm self-taught. the only art class i took was a compulsory one in grade 9.
