Choice 1. Move onto Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna. Play the DOS port or the Windows remake in The New Age of Llylgamyn collection. This is a direct sequel to Wizardry I. You play as Werdna. This is also the hardest Wizardry game ever made.
Choice 2. Play either Wizardry IV Gaiden (untranslated) or skip to Wizardry V on the SNES.
The NES one by far. However, I suggest you follow the Wizardry series by trilogy and not by individual titles. That way you can transfer your characters across games without making new ones all over again.
The 3 NES Wizardrys got remade as this SNES trilogy you see here. I'd suggest playing this trilogy or the brilliant PSX trilogy. Both trilogies are in English if you change the language options. You can get the PSX trilogy at snesorama(dot)us/board/showpost(dot)php?p=189270&postcount=10
Sure. All these Western theme games, are so sadistic (including Dragon's Lair that I also beat, even though that genre is slightly different). I wonder if Dungeons and Dragons: Eye of the Beholder for the Super Nintendo is any good too.
Yup The Bard's Tale seems solid (I like the name and the box art), but it's very expensive to get a copy.
Actually, the two other J-exclusive SNES Wizardries are a little misleading. Wizardry IV Gaiden is not Wizardry IV. It is part of a Japanese Gaiden Wizardry-inspired series completely unrelated to the original Wizardry series in the US. Conversely, the SNES Wizardry VI is indeed a well done remake of the original Wizardry VI. A damn shame it never got translated as it is basically the best version of Bane of the Cosmic Forge out there.
Awesome job on the 100% completion of stepping on every square! The only games I did this for were Knight of Diamonds and Heart of the Maelstrom. B8F in Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord must have been hell.

If you wish to continue with the Wizardry series, you have 2 choices:
1) Continue to play the original Wizardry series.
2) Continue to play the Wizardry games found only on the SNES.

The name is nice. I mean the first one, which is Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (same name for the Japanese domestic release surprisingly).
The 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System one came after the DOS one? Which is better?

Thank you! I have 1 and also, V soon and maybe the PSX version as well if I can find it. I hope to have your expert guidance as we go along ^_~
Do you enjoy any other games like Ultima, Syndicate, Metal Gear Solid etc?

The FM-TOWNS Ultima Trilogy is pretty nice. You can also find that at the snesorama boards.
The Bard's Tale series and Dungeons of Daggorath are my other two favorite oldschool dungeon crawler games.

Oh Diamond no Kishii.
The original Wizardry's manual and box art is the best.
