dude a true artist does not keep score...how can you keep score on what you feel comin out of your mind and out your fingers?Duane is getting to sound like...ummm Duane!
@davisonh1 I wondered if it was just me. I know it's not a popular sentiment, but I think Duane Betts has a lot more of the Alllman Bros soul than Derek. If he has the chance I think he'll go far. The break-up is tragic in so many ways, but I think it's a handicap to Duane as well - family loyalty and all.
@sccouple2427 ..that's right! Hayes is awesome, however, Betts needs to get credit for seeing this talent early in. I think the ABB need to add Duane Betts to the brotherhood with Warren, Derek. Could you imagine 3 guitars!
I'm lovin the hate, but obviously you guys havn't heard warren play?! Sooo much different than betts. Every Haynes solo is different and every Betts solo sounds exactly the same. Dickie was kicked out of the Bros because he boozed it up too much and wasn't productive. Haynes is phenominal. Just because you are in a famous band doesn't make you god at guitar. Haynes > Betts (IMO), k guys give me the thumbs down.
@ztbsk8er I know how good Haynes is as a guitar player. It's ridiculous to say Betts was just 'in the band.' Betts composed Elizabeth Reed, Ramblin' Man, and on and on. Betts kept the Allman Brothers alive after the deaths of Duane and Berry. For this, Dickie Betts is one of the most important musicians in history. Brothers & Sisters is more important than just a hot guitar lick. With all respect to Haynes, a magnificent player, but compared to Dickie Betts, Haynes is just a footnote.
@croussant Sure Betts was in the original lineup and came up with some good songs and guitar licks. I just think Haynes is a more skilled guitarist/ polished musician. My point was that because someone is in a famous band doesn't make them a better guitar player than other guitarists who aren't in the original lineup of a legendary band.
Actually, A huge comparison would be comparing him to Warren Haynes, who imo is a much better guitarist. The thing about Dickie is that he was an earlier guitarist from a greater band (Allman Bros) and Haynes is far more skilled than Betts. Betts plays the same old licks over and over again.
Did my soul good to see Dickey and his son. He has never sounded better and has a band that cooks .Seems both Betts are doing well and the Allman bros are in the past. Go see Dickey while hes still playing....Hes one of a kind.
Saw him in Grants Pass Oregon a couple years ago with Dickie...I sat close to the stage to see up close and my ears are still bleeding from the excessive volume of those Marshalls...
Fun show but sit back from the stage if YOU go to a Dickie Betts show....
Oh really? wow, did u just Wikipedia that? Dicky Betts? Who's that? Thanks for telling us. and FYI, its no the Dickey Betts Band, its Dickey Betts and Great Southern. So before you start lecturing us and trying to make yourself sound like a COMPLETE dumbass, please get it right and quit using Wikipedia.
Like father, like son. The boy has a bright future. I was there also for that awsome show in Charotte. The best show they ever had in NODA. I hope they can get him back again soon. Thanks for the video. It brings back good memories.

@honestmusiclistener I know man, right? Nothing special at all. Sounds mediocre to me. His father is Dickey Betts, he should be shredding it up.

Lotta pressure on that kid to be his own man and not be "Dicky's" son. And he is definitly not in his old man's league...yet anyway.
