  • RIP Little Eva.

  • Carol King and her husband wrote this for their housekeeper Little Eva becuase of the way she danced and sang while doing her work around the house. They allowed her to record it and bam! a Hit!

  • @TheSaugeen Little Eva recorded for Gerry and Carole's record label, Dimension Label. Eva's follow-ups were KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY BABY; LET'S TURKY TROT; OLD SMOKEY MOUNTAIN LOCO-MOTION: and others.

  • I've been hearing the song "Do the Locomotion" since I was a little kid but this is the first time I've ever actually SEEN someone doing the locomotion! Thanks for posting!!!

  • Little Eva is CUTE! A classic American Pop song, brings back the memories of an era that never will come again,

  • I don't know what they are doing there but it's great

  • Erm... I said in music I would do this dance in front of the whole class.... I having second thoughts! ... lol

  • This song will last forever. Bands still do it today, same arrangement or different arrangement. Locomotion rocks!

  • is it just me, or does the "locomotion" look a bit like intercourse?

  • youtube help's me find original

  • Wow i love her voice, a slight lisp, so nice

  • Great song

  • Yeah, brother, I do. This song was written by Carole King, and she gave it to her housekeeper to record. Phil Spector recorded it with his Wall of Sound. One of the coolest songs ever recorded by Phil.

  • god bless her - RIP Eva

  • Grand Funk tried their best to kill this song, but they are dead and the song still lives!

  • uhh brings back memories, i used 2 listen to big 100.3 when i was a kid so i grew up with the beatles, te temptatoins, earth, wind and fire, little eva, tinnie tim, etc.... being born in 94 i felt real cultured knowing the lyrics to Eleanor Rigby while everyone else sang the Barney theme song XD

  • A #1 hit for Little Eva in the summer of 1962. It also hit #1 on the Rhythm & Blues charts as well.

  • Little Eva was the babysitter for Carole King.

  • orale thats de name of my car club Loco Motion CC SLC

  • This is my favarouite and always will be. R.I.P Eva. And a hello to her daughters Josetta Hines and Dorethea Dobson. xxxx

  • great song...when music where music and problems where far away :)

  • She was the babysitter for Carole King, who wrote the tune.

  • A #1 hit for Little Eva on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 95th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era.

  • INLAND EMPIRE

  • Finally came on after a few minutes----really great!!! Too bad Little Eva had to die penniless and in the 'projects' in South Carolina the way she did. I really like her and her singing!!

  • It might have been great if it was not all black---NO VIDEO/NO SOUND!! Apparently, someone did not like it??

  • This is better than Nicki Minaj.

  • fucking great song....

  • I cant believe after nearly 50 years i just discovered that little Eva is black , :) ?I so should have known lol x

  • I love this. watching her shake her hips is priceless. she can move and sing. like watching heaven in motion.

  • cool one of my favotite neat o max magical kodak magical moments time macxhine fun time history

  • Where is the video of this music but it shows many varieties of trains?.

  • @Halkalooki, the song was actually released June 1962.

  • This woman was born in Belhaven NC, which is where I live WOOT WOOT!!!! I feel so special!

  • WOW! Most EXCELLENT!

  • Lol. FIRST gave us this song as a hint :)

  • lol never expected logomotion at all, to FIRST

  • so awesome

  • could this years game have something to do with a train? locomotion often refers to locomotive(train engine). maybe that is what the game hint is, something to do with trains and possible track

  • Evidently like most singers of that era she did nt make much money from her records and died in poverty a few years ago

  • corrrr, she ain't so little is she?

  • @Roshkin thats a really interesting point!

  • Hmm, I'm with FIRST robotics, and I'm trying to figure out how this can be a game hint? Maybe we have to attach something?

  • Only thing I can say: INLAND EMPIRE

  • Im with FIRST as well, Im thinking attaching ourselves to other objects.

  • This is quite possibly a FIRST robotics game hint! So as to poll the crowd, anyone know anything interesting about her or her songs that may be useful? or information about what happened in 1962 when this was released?

  • @dragonrulr4 My teammates say the first autonomous train was invented that year, and it goes well with "locomotion"

  • @dragonrulr4 Probably the most interesting thing about Little Eva is that she was the babysitter for Carole King's kids. This was the first hit that Carole had written.

  • @dragonrulr4 just go on the nett ...

    Elaine :)

  • @dragonrulr4 I could be wrong but I remember this song being later than 62. I would peg it around 64 or 65. It was a pretty big hit I remember that. The song got a lot of air play on top 40 radio. One thing about that era of music, say 62-65, everyone took back seat to the Beatles, no matter how good they were. The Beatles were very dominate on the charts for several years. No matter what the song was, good, bad or indifferent, when the Beatles released it, boom! it shot right to number 1.

  • @dragonrulr4 quite possibly? it was a game hint

  • @dragonrulr4

Little Eva was Carol King's babysitter. King wrote the song (and so many other greats) and had Eva sing it as a demo. King liked--and a star was born. Eva died a few years ago.

  • Comment removed

  • @dragonrulr4 Litttle Eva was Carol King's baby sitter.

  • @dragonrulr4 LOL this is late....but robotics was fun last year haha. it's not really related haha but it was awesme

  • @dragonrulr4 Well, I do know it was a #1 song on Billboard Magazine's HOT 100 charts back in 1962. And it would be remade by the band Grand Funk Railroad in 1973 and go right back up to #1 on the charts that later year.

  • are ANY of them wearing pants?

  • This song is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.

  • may she rest in peace lost talent

  • I have a autographed photo of litlt Eva a prise

  • Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Vodka till i die

  • RIP

  • Great performance, great song by Carole King and Gerry Goffin.

  • thanks for posting this song, it brings back good memeries

  • @russell5419 She was paid $50.00 for the song, and she did not get the copyright to it either.

After he short singing career, she worked as a waitress in a small North Carolina diner....thats where I met her.

  • gray friday do the locomotion!

  • I would rail her.

  • @Somepoopy

    I would nail her

  • @furorTeutonicus09 You shouldn't talk like that, you don't know her background

  • Is it really true this song is about humping, and nothing more? Just plain ol' good poundin' sex, lol. Is that what its about??

  • @billydumont No that's not true it's about a Locomotive train

  • @Sofrotum Thats why they are all doing that humping motion, right??? lol

  • @Sofrotum A choo-choo train - this song is about Thomas the train, huh? lol

  • We've literally just uploaded a cover to this song! It's very different to this, but we're sure you'll love it! :)

THIS IS SUCH A GREAT SONG! =D

  • This song always reminds me of a Train

  • Take a look at my video production. There you will find trains, the Finnish army, the beautiful scenery of Finland, folk music, sailing ship Sedov, martial arts, sports, art exhibitions, animals, animation, a lot of Super 8 films and other interesting stuff!

  • If I remember correctly Little Eva was Carole King's chambermaid.......and Carole knew that Eva could sing, so when it was time to record the song she decided to give Eva a chance......

  • music was and still is great from years past :) = classics

  • Sounds stronger than a locomotive! Great little Madame!

  • she copied this off Kylie Minogue

  • @ieatlotsoftoast You have to be out of your tree!! Kylie Minogue was not even born in 1962 when Little Eva released this. Minogue did record it again in 1988. You must be very young!!!

  • @ieatlotsoftoast This is a shorter version on a low budget show SHINDIG! in Black and white and from 1962! Kylie covered this 30 YEARS later, This what you see here is the Original Singer! R.I.P Eva Boyd

  • Classic!

  • What happened to her did she die??

  • @demiselenagomezfan She dies in 2003, cancer

  • I love Little Eva!!! :)

  • Love that Beehive hairdo!!

  • Check out the moves of the dancers at the back, looks pretty close to the moon walk to me

  • What a sad story, she was abused by the promoters and robbed of her due

  • lol so cheeesy its funky

  • eva so young innocent they killed her career!!! sorry eva

  • @sentells I wish she was still alive she was wonderful, Now look at what we have, Lady bleeding gaga. pfffftttt

  • I like this live version of the song better than her original recorded song-- this one sounds more upbeat and it's a tad faster paced-- I just wish they performed the whole song! Either way, it's an awesome tune =D

  • @bikefool Yh, I love the rocking piano and evas little hips shaking. x

  • AWESOME SONG!!!i used to sing this when i was a kid!

  • Thanks stman22, Peace to You and all of Us Old Fossils as 4everbobby put it. :-)

  • this version is great ! but i prefer grand funk rail road's version :P

  • Perfection! She is like so YummY!

  • stman22, I have another version of the song If you would like it but It's a news report as well as the song when Little Eva died and a new gravestone was unvieled

  • The Blossoms do an awesome job here, even though it is the Cookies who actually backed up Little Eva on the actual recording, love this! xxx

  • Grand Funk Railroad's version is still tops in my book

  • one of my favorite songs

  • Another really good song by Goffin & King.

  • does anyone have the chords for locomotion by little eva

  • great song

  • i found out about this song from a bill cosby show xD

  • so wats the new dance anyways

  • Still sounds as good today as it did then. It would have been great if the cameras back then were as good as today, to archive the great music from this period in time, in high quality. This as been a favourite of mine since it entered the charts.

  • i agree:) this oldies syuff rocks:)

  • what a great song. This was written by Carole King and her husband at the time Gerry Goffin. Little Eva was their babysitter and they liked they way she sang so they asked her to record it and the rest is history.

  • @kjvales Oh, Yes! Great Song. Evergreen Melody...Wonderful! Also, What A Great Lady! Is She Still Alive? Someone Can Tell Me Something? Thank You.

  • @ARTURODELFABBRO74

sorry, just realised I never replied to this. Sadly Eva Narcissus Boyd died in 2003 from Cervical Cancer.

  • 365,341 views.....asome.

  • che bellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • miss kylie minogue version is the best ;)

  • @itsmixtape BARFFFF

  • Catchy isn't it :)

  • best version.

  • @Poorence ,, wrong,, watch GRAND FUNKs version, blows this away !!!

  • @47tooter

    Its called an opinion...?

  • @GarryTheTableGuy no,, you can say I like it the best,, thats an opinion.. but to say its the best ,, is wrong,, its not.

  • @47tooter I think this is the best. SHINDIG version

  • @47tooter Tha's rubbish, this is the best

  • This song somehow brings to life the dead person inside me

  • april fools day

  • she is sexy

  • Brill song. Another user has this and the other two songs she performed to.

  • Good song, but what was with everyone hyping the cool new dance moves in their songs? :D

  • R.I.P. eva boyd

  • Can anyone get married without this song at the reception?

  • Bring back wonderful memories

  • Come on baby..........LALALALALA

  • Trocha klasiky.

  • IT's a saxophone

  • memories of a mad party

  • I think i've done this locomotion thing once before.

    Great song!

  • It's a baritone sax. :)

  • Thank you :D

  • Oh what memories. I remember rushing home after school to watch Shindig and dance to this. Now I'm getting to be such an old fossil, that if I tried to shake my hips and jump up, jump back, I'd probably either break something, or they wouldn't go back in place! Yikes, Ouch!!

  • @4everbobby LOL...I been there and done that but hates to admit I am getting old so I say..I rather be over the hill looking down than pushing up daises..

  • @4everbobby I know what you mean -- If I tried to dance today, I'd probably fracture my groove thing!

  • Can someone tell me what instrument is played at the start of the song? Sounds like some brass. We have to play it in a schoolband and I don´t know, how to do this brass Thing :D 0:01 - 0:03 Thanks! :D

  • Not sure, but it kinda sounds like a sax in a real low key.

  • @4everbobby It is saxophone (baritone).

  • @danimusic077 It is baritone saxophone.

  • hahaa lovee it<3 .. had to sinq itt in chorus todayy.
