  • Either my video card exploded or your beginning credits are funky looking

  • @goldenwolfproduction Its the video- Freeware isn't kind to me, at times.

  • What are you using? Like what tablet?

  • @Anime3mew A wacom Graphire4 4x5inch tablet.

  • Can u transfer sketchs from a preview or photo from I photo or something like that?

  • Hello! I want to ask, what if you have shaky hands?

How do you keep the ink lines so smooth? ^^

  • @xxluluchiixx There are some correction tools in MS that can help correct unstable looking lines (I believe there's a checkbox and slide in the tools options/settings for "correction")- but the best remedy is to do some practice exercises to help get yourself comfortable using a tablet (so that you can use other art programs without these correctional tools) if it isn't a consistent medial condition.

  • do u have to buy the tablet separately? or does it come with the pack??

  • @RyuukiArtsTV You have to buy a tablet separately.

  • Great work! It's amazing!

And I want to take a guess.... Prince of Tennis!!!

As soon as I saw Yuuta and the scar on his forehead I was 100% positive.. I was right, right? XD

  • beauty :D

  • love honey and clover

  • i have a question when i trace it usally grey! i want it to be black

  • Wuth this it really looks like one could avoid ntirely screwing up the drawing by inking one eye wrong or whatever, 'cause you can undo, but it looks like it takes much more time than usual inking, or is it just me?

It does probably help a lot to color stuff like Hellboy or Priest, wwith many black areas.

  • Thinking about getting Manga Studio but it looks hard

  • Does Manga Studio have vectorial brushes ? Cuz I really have to change Illustrator.

  • I recently bought a Wacom Bamboo Pen and was wondering if it's absolutely neccessary to have a scanner... or could I just lay my paper sketch over the pad ad then trace from there? :o

  • @dejasian I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet also, and it doesn't work at all. You can draw over the top but unless you have an A4 bamboo which is bigger than your pc screen then you can't do it.

You can set your tablet to "mouse mode" and try it that way, if you'd like.

At default, your tablet is set to a mode where it replicates your screen, so for example if you click at the top right, you will close or minimize a program.

  • thats not drawing from scratch just srawing over u should shown us u drawing the whole thing in manga studio not just over laying...

  • @lashikogen17 The point of the video was to show us the inking process, not drawing from scratch. I actually came here to see how well manga studio works for this, so the video is what I was looking for. There are plenty of sketching and full art videos on youtube though :)

  • I've been saving up to buy a tablet for some time. Just wondering, what kind of tablet are you using? (Lovely work.)

  • @ShootingPandas Wacom Graphire4-- it was around $100 when I got it. ^^

  • @Fullmetalomi Alright. Thanks man. =) (Or chick. xp)

  • @Fullmetalomi you can find one on ebay new for 78 dollars still high but its better than a 100 dollars.. :)

  • @ShootingPandas NEW 12.1" Slim Digital Graphics Drawing Tablet for Windows & MAC

its one of the best ones made.

  • are u using a tablet

  • Just downloaded free trial

    :D XD

  • what brush are you using

  • Hey may i mind to ask what tablet do you use?

  • okay this doesn't help me at all. I need oral instruction and everything! (Just got manga studio and have no idea how to use it)

  • @tornfairywings6 Please be aware this isn't a tutorial; just a video of a process.

  • @tornfairywings6 If you're interested in a tutorial on anything, please let me know and I can look into it for a future release.

  • @Fullmetalomi How do you put in color? Special effects? If you show a video doing that could you add in oral instruction?

  • @tornfairywings6 Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment to add my voice at this time. I'll try to work on how to work in color next video . What kind of special effects specifically? Tone effects or...?

  • @Fullmetalomi Tone effects and those dramatic lines. Also speech bubbles. btw did your material box come empty? Because I don't seem to have any materials in my material box.....

  • @tornfairywings6 As far as I'm aware, all types (debut/ex) come with at least some tones/patterns; I believe its an additional executable on the CD.

  • @Fullmetalomi I downloaded it (ordered online). So I guess the file is just somewhere on my computer

  • Once I get to that point of artwork, I'll probably definitely look into this program. Thanks for the video.

  • I have a question.

When you enter text, is there a way to edit it like erase some? i want to put text behind a character to be the background because somebody's rambling. how would i go about being able to erase the part covering the character?

  • @howlerkos you would place the texture layer below whatever layer's make up the character's colors, shadings, lines, etc, in the layers window, then just take the eraser tool and erase inside the character while having the text layer selected in your layers window. sorry if that sounds a little vague.

  • @howlerkos Easiest way would be to put the text on a separate layer from your character art (doesn't matter if its above or below) so that you can erase without messing up any other lines. Hope that helps.

  • @Fullmetalomi I wish I could do that. I have 4.0, and it has text separate from all the layers and in its own box. o.<

I cant put the text in a normal layer.

  • @howlerkos Forgot about that-- two solutions-- if your text is absolutely correct, right click on the text layer and rasterize it-- it'll become a regular layer. Other solution is to place your text layer under the character artwork and create a new layer sandwiched between the text layer and character art layer-- use white pen on this layer to "erase" the text. This works well if you make a mistake and want to fix the text later.

  • the neck looks a lil big

    great job though !

  • you should add an up beat song to this process its way to quiet maybe tchno, daft punk, justice, capsul or somthing retro, hell heavy metal might be cool PAD, Gwar, SHiny Toy Guns The shins u get the point nevm scratch all that do Thievery corp

  • ok good vedeo

  • @majinleoking no, I think they're brothers

  • are those two homosexuals?? :))

  • First I'm sorry for my stupid applicaion, do you use a simple mouse or a mousepen???? thanks ^___^

  • what do you use for inking? do you use a pad with a stylis? or just the mouse itself? please let me know.

  • gfgdfgfadg

  • awesome job as far as the inking is concerned, I just wanted to say the credits at the start are horrible

  • what tablet are you using?

  • O MY GOSH! THATS AWSOME!

  • is manga studio better than photoshop to do coloring, screen toning etc.? cause its dedicated to manga? if i wanna make a manga and dont need photoshop, do u recommend buying photoshop for it or manga studio? would i really need photoshop?

  • dont buy either

    use a torrent

  • Photoshop is better at coloring. Screen toning is ok in manga studio. I personally prefer use Painter instade of coloring in photshop, because it's just much easier. Also, there are way much more brushes in Painter.

  • manga studio actually has the screen tones you see in mangas. the dot patterns that are used as shades and vary in size. It also has speed lines and there is regular coloring

  • MS Paint

  • I just got my tablet so im still getting used to how to ink like that

  • Does anyone know if there's a way you can "watch" how you drew a picture on Manga Studio without video taping your computer screen?

  • does any one knw wots easier to use a touch screen laptop or a tablet? please answer!!! thnak you

  • The cheapest touchscreen laptop (also known as a tablet laptop) is the HP touchsmart Tx 1000 series, and that goes for about 800 bucks (on sale) It would definitely be easier, however, it is very expensive. separate Tablets, on the other hand, such as the bamboo fun ($100) are much cheaper, and you get used to the feel of drawing on a seperate device. It's sort of like learning to use your mouse without looking at it.

  • oohhh

  • well, i have the laptop you are talking about, but what sucks about using it for manga studio. is that you cant use the keyboard, you would have to open it up a little/

  • I got a used laptop computer (Toshiba m200) for $200 bucks on eBay. It was a pretty good deal considering my budget. It's small, but it works.

  • You should try both. Personally I get a sore wrist like 30 minutes into using a touch screen laptop while I can go on for hours using an A6 tablet.

As far as I'm concerned the smaller the tablet the better as well. Using an A6 you can paint across the entire screen by simply moving your wrist while with an A2 tablet you gotta move your entire arm...

  • So true. Well my style of drawing is one that's happier with tiny movements of the wrist as opposed to sweeping movements of the arm, so I prefer the small tablet size. Which is great since they're so cheap!

  • @1annasor1 Tablet

  • @1annasor1 To me, It's about the tablet. A touch screen feels weird (unless it's a Cintiq. I'll explain). A touch screen feels less sensitive, does not have pressure, and it' seems it has less resolution (stated in DPI) than a tablet. Except if you're talking about a Cintiq screen tablet, which is a screen with pens and it has pressure sensitivity. You may want to heck on Wacom's site, but those are really expensive, for the totally professional dude.

  • @1annasor1

You'd rather buy an actual wacom tablet rather than a tablet pc. It's just not on par with it. The tablet has better pressure sensitivity. With a tablet pc you'd have to do alot of calibration and the quality of the lines is better with wacom tablets. I had bad experience with tablet pc's "touch screen" as you call it. If you want to draw directly on the screen get a cintiq :]. Other good ones are intuos 4 or if short on budget you can get bamboo with touch for 99$ at the wacom site

  • @1annasor1 This is really really late but:

Totally a tablet is easier to use. I have an HP Touchsmart Desktop, and I tried using the touch screen with Paint Tool Sai and failed. It was really hard to use. I was better off using my Tablet--which I ended up doing.

  • @1annasor1

lol a tablet of coarse! A touchscreen tablet will give you a more sloppy effect, while the tablet will give you a more clean feel.

  • @1annasor1 use a tablet its alot easier

  • @1annasor1 a tablet

  • @1annasor1 definetally a tablet! unless you get a laptop with "pen input" but i go with tablet

  • @1annasor1 dawg, tablet. tablet laptops will get hot fast in your lap but it might just depend on if it has a large display the largest i have seen is a 13''. don't bother just get a tablet.

  • @1annasor1 Touch Screens can be easier to work on however they cost $2000+ where as a tablet works just fine (might take a day to get used to) and they only cost about $100. Id recommend the Wacome Bamboo (cheap, reliable, and easy to use)

  • can i ask u something. Do u use regularly on pencil pen or curved line? i'm guessing curved line. right?

  • i think she's using a pen table,,, it's very easy...

when i draw with my mouse i use curved line too

  • can you do a tutorial on how to draw your manga style plzzz??

  • How do you use the bending lines tool I cant find it o_O I'm so noob oh and how to you remove your sketch lines once youre done with the black

  • the line bending tool is the curved ruler set to "draw shape" unless you mean the "distort" toll which is just below it on the menu.

To get rid of your sketch lines just make sure you ink on a layer above the sketch then you just ahve to turn off or delete the sketch layer.

  • dude.... THANKS :D

  • I bought the 3.0 Debut - and was surprised how agonizing the slowness of putting a scratch on the wacom tablet and for the computer to register that scratch on the screen. --- but just watching this video, made me feel better... it's not me, it's the product !!!

  • I need help in inking. As in, I need someone to tell me whats wrong with my inking and etc. Am i using the wrong pen? Is it the thickness? Please visit my DA account, and i have some comparisons from sketches to line art in there. :) jacare1369

  • The program is called "Manga Studio."

  • this Manga Studio EX

  • how long did you take to draw both the sketches and the final image ??

  • Did you use a Tablet to draw? Or the Mouse?

Also what was the line size that you used to draw the lines the thin and smooth?

  • omg same here!! help! xD

  • hello! i have a problem ;_; when i use the pen tool with my tablet the line appears away from the cursor... but with mouse it dosent happen :|

anyone know how to fix it??

  • Have you tried re-installing your tablet drivers?

  • if your tablet came with software, try looking for a "re-calibrate" option or an application on the CD that might include that option.

  • As what the description plainly states: "Not very educational, I'm afraid. "

  • franchement j'aime bien

moi j'ai manga studio EX 4

j'arrive pas trop encore à mi faire c'est tout en anglais mais je commence à prendre le coup de main

  • where i can donwload manga studio?

  • You have to buy it. Just google it.

  • usualy when i draw online its always riged like how do u do it

  • he uses a tablet

  • i love your sketching and inking

    boy love<3

  • Great video IMO, though it was just a sped up version of someone inking it just shows how much is put into something that would look simple.

  • Hey...was that Hibari Kyoya in the background or it is just my imagination ?:D cool picture btw :D

  • lol

  • What was the setting you used for your pen?

    what type, size, correction, etc...

  • awesome vid, I was thinking that if wacom tablet work on manga studio.

  • how did you color it?

  • The final image was colored in Photoshop, if I remember correctly.

  • Drawing Tablets are sexy.

  • @Elecrusher i kno right xD

  • whats the size of the the tablet? is it really good? can a beginner tablet user use it?

  • Its a Wacom brand Graphire4 tablet 4inch by 5 inch. Its one of the most basic types created by Wacom. I can assume a beginner can use it- its similar to what I first began with.

  • what type of tablet do you have? whats the brand name?

  • thanx pie jesu. i figured it was a tablet. i don't have one yet and the mouse is fustrating. i'll get a tablet soon.

  • where/how can i get this programm? i want it for free if someone know, may be a tutorial to download it? thanks

  • how do you ink like that? What kind of brush do you use in manga studio?

ahhh it would be infinitely awesome if you could do a tutorial!

  • so cool!!

but what tool was that?i drew using markers which was a bit long.. please tell me, and u can check my vid. =)

    Sophie

  • As what both the video and description provide: Manga Studio Ex with a Wacom tablet.

  • What pen are you using for this? I've had the best luck with the Kabura and brush. . .

  • did you use a tablet?

  • Everyone uses a digitizer tablet.

    A mouse isn't dextrous enough.

  • indeed.

  • oh and what do you use to colour your pics ?

  • Depends-- I use a mix of SAI, Photoshop, and Painter.

  • how much did u pick up ur tablet + pen for ? i prob wont come bak to this page so plz reply

    thanx man

  • About $100.

  • WOW really good!

But i was wondering wich tool you used... is it the pen???

    And a tablet??

    TY and congratulation

  • i live in singapore(actually im from philipines)so can i buy this??

  • Manga studio? I guess so? I would suggest Google searching for stores that sell it and see? (Content Paradise is where I go for stuff)

  • ROLF! XD ididnt think of dat!! anyways thnx for the help....

  • OMG.... awsome!!!!!!

  • what settings/brushes do you use?

  • you are an incredible artist... was this manga studio ex or debut?

  • Nice! I'm really upset though... i just manga studio last night, but it won;t work! I have vista, the web site says it works for it, but my computer treats it like it's not there! It's annoying... :(

  • are sure you havnt the wrong one?

  • Ah~! I fixed it! Thanks! Yeah, it was the wrong one. =P

  • glad it got fixed! ^-^

  • which one was it really? I have a vista too and it won't work.

  • Umm.. I bought it off the website. If you buy them at the store it's all 'not compatible'. The site 'SmithMicro', has it under vista, so if you get it there it should work without a problem! ^O^

  • do they have one for windows xp homedition, cause i want it but i dont know anything about them.

  • Yeah, it's also on the site. Actually, the one for XP is the one they sell in stores. You can find it probably anywhere they sell computer software, like Best Buy, or Staples. Just make sure it's not only for Mac, they have the same box, so you can't really tell without looking at the disk.

  • great draw! you are awsome

i poseted the manga studio ex 3.0 registered version

on video responce for everyone that want it!!!

  • What tool are you using for "making the painting black"?

  • dear god.....help me be able to do that on a freakin cpu...( I can draw...but....doing what you did on cpu is a whole new level) -love the art work

  • What the hell is a vacum tablet???

  • Not sure where you got "vacum" from, honestly. It says Graphire 4 tablet on the video. ^^

  • is this compatiblet with wacom tablets ?!

  • yeah it is :)

  • Is the colouring done in another program cus as far as i no manga studio can only do black and white

  • I barely got this thing and it has like a MILLION of options to choose from. It might be a few days before I figure it all out

  • you're so lucky i only have manga studio debut

  • is manga studio better or cs3?

  • Manga Studio (Or the original Japanese 'ComicStudio') is the app best suited for manga-style illustration.

It was designed from the ground up to give manga artists the same results on the computer that they expect with a pen and paper. It also has some incredible features like variable 'Correction' on all the drawing tools which will smooth out or straighten lines, and smooth line widths. It can also handle lossless arbitrary rotations of the page to aid drawing, just like a pad of paper.

  • heyy, TheBakaChan!! does the variable 'Correction' option allow you to draw like you would in Flash? drawing straight into photoshop makes me cry! me likey the vectors!=)

    thanks!=D

    great drawing btw,fullmetalomi!

  • Must... have... program....

I bet I'll be on this 24/7 on my off school days.

  • how does this guy do this! i can barley draw an ok circle on this program lol

  • dude you should make some manga on it you are very good!

  • but how?

  • are you that cluless?

  • um..ya

  • you are very, very good at drawing manga, my compliments, but I want to ask you, did you use a pen tablet to draw this?

  • i think you would need to it is hard otherwise

  • of course! using a mouse will only bring lackluster results and amateurish sh*t.

  • Impressive!! *hats off*

  • Wow, you're amazing! I hope if I keep practicing I can be that good!

I want this program now! The lines are so clean! It's amazing! Does anyone know if i can get a trial of the Debut version? (Since it's the one I can afford.)

  • yes, you can get a trial for this, search demo maga studio in google and you'll find it

  • What about those of us who don't have a wacom board? This isn't that easy...

  • O_o crazyyyyy manga!!!

    nice color ^_^

  • WOW!!! I love this drawing ( I wish I could draw like you...), If we copare our drawings... I suck... T-T... If you wanna see some I'm mitsukitakuto at Sheezyart... If U can please comment some of them and tell me what should I do to get better, 'kay? ( oh, if you want to... kay?)

  • How do you get those lines that are so smooth and just like you drew them free handed? When I draw a line , it's just 1 pixel througout the whole line.

  • God, I feel so intimidated watching this- it's so far above my level.

  • is there a way to just draw it in a paper, clean or skeatchy, import it into MS and then just get the inking with out tracing.. i say this becouce i'm doing a comic and i need to get all the lines smooth and clean in less time.

  • There is-- but I've never particularly done it.
