Buddhism is no religion. Religion is a cultural lifestyle where you can learn righteousness and ways to worship God. In buddhism there´s no God concept. Just ´´oneness´´ with all the matter in the universe, peace, love, yoga and namaste. You are supposed to rub buddha´s fat belly and when he farts the whole universe comes out in peace and harmony. Secondly, Buddhism is not atheist or pagan, it doesn't accept or deny the existence of a god or gods, those just aren't concerns in Buddhism. I have found the teachings of buddhism, zen, many other religions, and teachers, make me want to live a better life, help me find peace and inspire me with new ways of thinking, that does includes Osho (he wasn't a hindu though). @FreeAds4 nothing wrong with being an agnostic. IMO god can be seen as a personified representation of the eternal, universal and infinite consciousness that is existence. We are all part of this "god", which is our Buddha nature. Buddha taught the same things in Jesus, he just approached the question of human consciousness from an in-depth psychological and metaphysical angle. He gave reasons for his beliefs, where as Jesus said much the same thing, but gave little in the way of reasoning.

I have found my experience of studying Buddhism to be a bit different. Many things I struggle with, especially about the hell realms, divas and such. Things I haven't experienced, many things I read about in the discourses have always been a challenge for me. Seminary helps, being able to talk with the monks and all, but much of the teachings are still difficult for me.

reincarnation is a very hard concept to grab... it is not specifically the soul.. it is taught in theravada buddhism (found in sri lanka, i dnt really know much about buddhism in tibet and dalai lama (shame!)) that what decides where u will be reincarnated is your last thought... this thought tends to be good if u have led a good life and bad if otherwise, but there are exceptions! like if u have been really good all ur life and for some reason u think of something bad u have done....
