Hey, surprisingly enough the south is more tolerent I feel. I hear that places like NY have neighborhoods that are segregated by choice. There are lots of Interacial couples, biracial and multiracial people here as well. I think the more diverse a place is the less tolerent. People from the city would brag about all the different people yet they had the same old stereotypes. We have a few stuck in the 1800's but not as many as you may think.

You get a variety of reactions everywhere you go. I live in the South and have dated interacially here & have never had a derogatory comment or confrontation. I've had double-takes with smiles, but no nastiness. Generally we are laid back & friendly, but I'm sure idiocy is equally spread around...just depends on how bold they are about displaying it. Main thing is to not put yourself into negative situations & to just be happy! Don't worry about the jerks, they're not worth worrying about.

It's been long distance for a large part of that due to school but we've experienced a lot of the things you've mentioned when we are together in public. You just have to laugh at people sometimes. We've had jungle fever yelled at us, and one guy smiled and said "chocolate and vanillaaa!" we still joke about that to this day.
