  • THUP!

  • you'll get better results if you use a cylindrical projectile

  • Someone's a bit retarded for using nikon flash circuits, the capacitors won't be any better for what you pay lol the computing/resolution technology adds the extra $45-95

  • ambosoldier your a fucking looser go eat shit

  • Pretty powerful for its size... good work

  • how to make one of these? pls someone give me the scheme!

  • Just look up "camera coil gun" on google, there are plenty of plans.

  • Your quarter inch steel pellets look alot like 4.5mm copper bbs...

  • No, they're deffinatly 1/4 inch pellets, and copper isn't magnetic.

  • But I do realize 4.5 cm is 1/4 inch.

  • Oh ok, and I didn't realize magnets were part of this so that makes sense

  • actually, magnets are not part of it per se... a coil gun uses a current of electricity directed around a coil wrapped many times, and that creates magnetism. the projectile doesnt have to be a magnet, tne projectile only needs to be able to be manipulated by magnistism.

  • Ahh... well I just got schooled.

  • no, no, you didnt get schooled. you got fucking owned! lol, =)

  • Ok... when someone admits something like that you don't say jackass remarks back

  • ya but its pretty much the same as a gauss gun because gauss gun uses magnets but in useing them it makes electromagnetic pulse which is basically electricity

  • ah double schooled!

the coil is a magnet; when it is in use, the current creates an electromagnet, a type of magnet.

hence the confusion between coil and gauss guns

  • My friend and I are going to assemble a 1.12 kjoule gun!!! sometime soon, check up on it! I'm expecting the streangth to blast a round through dry-wall. (at least!, very easily multiple walls! not my walls tho :P)

  • Very nice. Coil guns are much fun. The only problem you have there is that you said "blast". Lightsabers are not as clumsy or as random as a blaster, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Oh wait... coil guns not lightsabers here :D "Launch" works nice.

Most of the newer cameras that I've run into have 330 volt capacitors. They pack a nice punch.

  • Pretty good for this little amount of energy

  • can some 1 plz send me plans or make a vido showing how to make 1 thnx =]

  • or you can stop leeching

  • How the hell is he going to learn if he cant ask questions?

    Google "disposable camera coil gun"

  • my coilgun is mounted in a camera casing, pety cool. I was wondring how you wound thw wires around the tube. Also are you using a capicator bank? can you possibley tell me how to wire the capicator bank into the flash-caera's circut? im sorry to ask you but I can't find any clear answers.

  • He secured two washers around the tube and wrapped a coil of wire around the tube multiple times. He is most likely using a capacitor bank, how big i don't know and the capacitor bank is put onto where the single capacitor used to be on the camera flashing circuit. Make sure the positives and negatives sides are in the right place or the capacitors could be potentially dangerous. Also for basic coil gun designs capacitors are normally wired together in parallel to make the capacitor bank

  • why is that a response to my comment?

I've built more then one coilgun, videos are on my channel

  • I'm terribly sorry, i wasn't reading when it was posted. Stupid me :P

  • Thanx 4 all the comments guys. I used one capacitor and 40 feet of 22 guage (awg) wire. I built it befor I had any knowledg of coilguns at all, so I was lucky it worked so well. The capacitor is 320 uF.

  • i think you should use like five or six capacitors. you can get 330 volt capacitors from some types of cameras with a flash pcb

  • I have heard success for up to 3 capacitors, but after that, you're simply wasting energy because the length of the coil won't accomodate the increaded capacitor discharge time. You also get some heavy lc occilation.

  • nice job.

  • wonderful, you assassinated a block of cheese

  • neat little shooter that , hmmm is it possible to modify an arrow as a projectile, i have one , but i want to fire it electrically , and what guage wire and how many turns , thanx , please subscribe to my vidz (nothing new yet but it wont be long now)be safe

  • This was just a small coil gun. I don't know if Radio Shack is in the UK, but I used about 40 feet of 22 AWG wire (.644 mm, I hate the American Measuring System xD) wraped around a pen tube. Use washers to focus the magnetic field. I'm not sure how big your arrow is, but just remember if it's heavier, you need more power. Send any more questions to my youtube mail. Thanx for commenting!

  • Good range for its size! well done!

  • thanks, it was really fun too. I played with it for hours on end.

  • Nice job.

  • ok mate, great help :D

  • how do you make the coil gun, i have some disposable cameras ad an old bronken bb gun, will that do?

    wb'

  • If you search it on google, you'll find some designs. Basicly, you hook the camera capacitor up to a coil, but theres more to it than that, especially if you want bigger ones. Just search Camera Coil Gun. Or, search coil gun design for some theory.

  • how many caps... and how did you wire the coil to make it fire???

  • just one 220 uF cap and I used a 120volt, 10 amp switch. It sticks a little at first because of the really high apmerage.

  • is that the ones that come with the camera or one of those huge blue ones?...

  • It runs on a 220 uF cap from a camera. The blue is just the electrical tape around my solenoid. I've sorta scrapped my plans for a larger multi-hundred joule cg; become obsessed with my tesla coil.

  • oh yea, forgot so jay that your cg looks really cool, good job.

  • ok... cool... i like how strong yours is... i made one that has the same number of caps...(i think...) and it is nowhere as strong as that one...

how are you charging the cap...

good job... and thanks for helping...
