  • I loved this show, utter classic but I'm a real fan of Joe Flynn, I have his classic know it all, Binghampton black and white photo framed in my family room. He was the greatest! Still hear him screaming McHale, you and your goons are through!!!!!

  • Quinton McHale! Quinton McHale! He's the Tiger Of The Pacific! Quinton McHale!

  • They did do a movie remake of"McHale's Navy"..with Mr.Borgnine playing"McHale's"Father..with Mr.Dean Stockwell playing"Capt.Binghamton"..the movie remake still stinks!

  • Joe Flynn and Carl Ballantyne were great in this.

  • john kerry joined up after watching the show but when he found himself on a swift boat in the mekong delta taking pot shots from all the dinks he grabbed his three purple hearts and split, man.

  • I watched this as a kid and I just purchased the DVD set..it's still hysterical..Joe Flynn was priceless

  • Just saw a video of Ernest being interviewed recently at the age of 91 and he doesn't look that much different and is just as lively if not moreso. Good for him.

  • I meet ernest borgnine in hollywood this summer. He signed his autobiography to me.He was really a warm and nice person.

  • I loved and still do love this show so no disrespect intended.

Not sure why they made McHale a LT Commander.

Most of the captains of PT boats I saw online were LTs and the most famous one, Kennedy (JKF), was a LTJG.

This may be one reason why the naval advisor left early on.

  • @e148 In one of the episodes it was revealed that McHale was a local sailor in the area when the war broke out and Admirel Rodgers gave McHale a field commision of LTCMDR for his local knowledge of the area. This is why Binghampton's complaints went for nought when they got to the admiral.

  • So funny...I loved this show as a kid. I joined the Navy later out of High School...guess what, THERE WAS A McHALE"S NAVY out there. I am living proof.

  • @manny5442 I joined the Air Force right out of high school, but there was no Andy Griffith. But plenty of sergeants though.

  • Ernest Borgnine....frigging legend!

  • Of the dozens of television shows to watch as a kid back then, McHale's Navy was a top ten ... with Gilligan's Island ..., so cool.

  • Thats a true story about joining the Navy, I'm sure it subliminally helped influence my reasons for joining as I loved watching that show as a kid! He's such a great guy! Thanks for the cool post!

  • This is a tv tribute to"McHale's Navy"from "Entertainment

TonIght"back in the 1980's. Ms.Eden is the host/narrator of this segment.

  • that laugh

  • I remember seeing a run of bloopers from McHales Navy, and in one of the skits the whole crew was on deck at the helm of the PT boat and they suddenly broke into a Do-WOP Tune, it was a riot!

  • The Tim Conway-Joe Flynn interaction was as funny as anything I have ever seen.

  • This was pretty cool. Ernest Borgnine is a great actor and had a great run in "McHale's Navy". Thanks for posting this interview. This

    was cool.
