  • jesus u never ever cross you're arms like that dude,,, and if u wanna do a backfist as speed u throw it from where the hand is in the guard not bring it back... im very good at backfist and you do this so very wrong

  • ...go back fist yourself.

  • NOW THE BREAKFAST the breakfast the breakfast LOL

  • Wouldn't he EAT the two as soon as he crossed his own arms like that? Of course he would.

  • muhammad needs to keep his hands up

  • A backfist does not load near the ear it just strikes out, my instructor Larry Stewart trained in Okinawa under Shoshin Nagamine in Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu)

  • Silly, moving his left hand before coming in? What if he just throws in his other fist into your face? You need to move outside, so instead of moving forward, and knocking back his left hand, p'sai his arm out of the way, and move to his side, and throw the backfist, it may not work, but it has a better chance then just stepping forward. And his stance was wrong too. =(

  • Good God!

    What a of crap!!!!

  • many of the comments people are making similar to my first are dumb xD In fact the demonstator might be a good martial artist. Its not as if he were going into a fight and the only thing he'd use is a backfist. COME ON NOW laynick Cough* Besides your arms have more power through stretching a muscle in the natural flow of how it moves, get clocked with taht and your gonna hurt NO DOUBT

  • ya...no unless your going against a 5 year old or a little old lady u cant just hit one hand out the way and expect the dude not to throw the other fist at your face UNLESS HES GOT ONE ARM ....BETTER HOPE SO

  • @hakuboshi1 this guy isnt using the backfist the best way. It works against trained fighters believe me my dad is 2nd degree black belt in shorin and im a 1st. this works well off a right hook from you opponent while ur in southpaw. step in, step on his lead foot, block with the hard part of 4arm trap the other hand and backfist to the nose. There is no counter that we have discovered and usually breaks a nose and causes them to fall. very very effective.

  • i noe lol was just a joke, honestly backfist is hard to block or considerably hard to anticipate. My personal preference is to use a spinning backfist off of a block. Me and my cousin are no martial arts experts, but we bare knuckle spar with throwing punches and kicks to be able to gain some sort of muscle memory if we were ever in a fighting situation. Backfist is A Class material

  • Careful with the barenuckle stuff! lol Cuts and joint damage if your hitting hard. But yea thats the best way to learn is to just spar. Try throw a jab or two to get inside then instantly throwing a back hammer fist. hammer fist is better spinning cause if you come in too close you will land with the blade of the arm or else bow and still normally KO the person.

  • @sammaggard the back hammer fist is alot easer to get a joint lock on though

  • @LateKnight347 Not if you throw it correctly. It's not slow enough for someone to catch and get a wrist lock.

  • @sammaggard ok i think c y u guys r defending this some much. i was thinking this was a lead strike.

  • @sammaggard if you cut into the strike you can. infact from there you can throw them or catch them in a wrist lock/straight armbar

  • using this technique the way it is demonstrated will get u raped against anyone with a little striking skill..first of all the defendant is not even in a proper stance whatsoever...has his arms and hands way ahead of him...a muay thai guy would kill him...

  • @laynick1 this guy isnt setting it up correctly... it works read my above instrucions.

  • and no, instructors aren't necessary they just have the advantage of being able to correct your mistakes or explain things simpler, but if you understand the video you could learn from it and get a target to see if your technique works

  • U seem to the the one who has the problem with these ppl being black. And no im not Shorin Ryu, im Shotokan. But that is still neither here nor there. To learn martial arts from videos like this is impossible, u wld pick up a gr8 number of errors and prob end up like the guy in this video, do u think hes good?? Do u think hes an advert for all great karate styles? How would a total beginner be able to look at this vid and understand the dynamics of it?

  • obviously you dont need an instructor, just the kind of information you get from videos is good enough to learn how to fight. if martial arts are impossible without instructors there are none because the instructors had to either learn the art or invent it and if you cant invent them without learning another style someone had to learn kung fu and go back in time and teach it. the creators of kung fu had less than these videos and still learned how to fight

  • your repeated argument that everyone is being 100% honest is just what i was saying about manipulating the mind you want people to hate these videos which means more money for the dojos so you have to give false information and pretend to argue that he is no good when he is 50000 times as good as you could ever hope to be

yes this guy is a good advert for karate because he has the skills of a true martial artist, not the useless junk you unfairly judge people on

  • this wastes too much space on the comment board so any attempt to continue this conversation and i will block you so you cant say anything but there are people who want to use this comment board for proper conversations and it is unfair to deny that to them

  • Yer bt back in those times when these styles were invented was when there was real combat, and wars with proper weapons, and these styles were developed, not taught by some1 whos doing it badly. U cant learn by videos as every unique person will develop unique problems which (if u truly want to learn) need to b corrected by an instructor. And as far as the space is concernced, im only using one comment to reply.

  • i speak from experience when i say that videos like this are useful. i actually got better at some techniques from watching people do them wrong/different because i noticed the differences but didn't claim that the technique was wrong because unlike the haters i know that if you do a technique "wrong" it can still do major damage because it could easily be from a place that teaches to deceive your opponent.

  • you would never get into the CJA or similar places with that attitude because they have an important rule that you must not commit shameful acts like deciding anything different is wrong

end of discussion. this should have ended a long time ago but you stubbornly tried to stop people from seeing the truth of the haters

  • Yer but this isnt one of those deceiving styles, u can clearly see that. Im not deciding something DIFFERERENT is wrong im decigint that something WRONG is wrong. And dont bother with the high and mighty crap about "end of discussion. If u want to end it u end it, ur the one thats went on and on using more than one comment nearly every time to reply.

  • It is much better to train with an accomplished teacher in person. A simple example would be how to wrap your hands. You may watch videos and, superficially, you'll have learnt how to apply them. But you may not of adequately supported your hand. A teacher can show you just how tight to wrap and the main areas of focus. Once you've experienced this first hand you'll then know how to do it correctly. It still remains possible to learn through videos, but then you risk less valid training.

  • there is a word for believing whatever you see on the internet "gullible". you still insist that just because someone doesn't straight out say "black people suck" they aren't racist.

also in the UK there are so few shorin ryu schools that if any dojo gets people convinced to learn from an instructor they are likely to be chosen and there are several other places with the same situation, and so far you could easily be one of them

  • He said nothing of the colour black and yet you insist he is racist. Why force an unfounded motive/agenda on him, when it is completely that; unfounded. It might be a case of projection. At the very least it's a deceptive ploy to gain higher ground in the eyes of third parties and, even, yourself. For proper technique it is necessary to either train dilligently, rectifying any errors before they become bad habit, but this imposes a self limitation.

  • do you honestly think all these haters do any martial arts

as easy as it is to say you do karate as to say you are 100 times as good at striking as bas rutten and 10 times as good at grappling as dean lister

also if they have videos that "prove" they are being honest and give all the information about themself consider how easy it is to give false identity then record others and claim it is you

  • the arm is not meant 2 come back to you're kneck the strike it's just a simple flicking technique to stun the opponent, a fast fast strike

  • 1 thing, the back fist is called uraken, you have the right ar movement off you're attacking arm but if you use you're other 2 move the attackers arm away you're slowing you're self down if not disabling you'reself slightly

  • These guys give Shorin-Ryu a bad name D:

  • Sorry, but you shouldn't put these videos 'cause they're wrong. Learn the correct way to do things, clown.

  • well said if you are a true martial artist you teach if something is wrong without disrespecting

  • C-R-A-P!!!!

  • doing a back fist like that will get u hurt.

  • @LateKnight347 No,Qaam is doing it good. The point is to break his skull.I practiced shorin-ryu too.

  • @MCATZu i dont like how hes leaving himself open. i was taught to not to chamber a back fist shoot it straight out from the starting point. the power comes from the legs.

  • @LateKnight347 If you attempt this technique at that speed, then yes you'll be open. But since this is a speed technique, one wouldn't execute it this slowly in a fight, you quickly get in there. About the chamber, he's just applying law of inertia there. Chambering puts a little more force behind it, since you'd need more force to make your arm cover that longer distance. But again, you gotta get in there fast or they'll be ready for it. You're right about power coming from legs & hips, though.

  • lol this video kind of made me horny b

  • don't give up ya day job!!

  • russell wong practices this type of karate, i think its cool

  • backfist is very deadly if u put all your power in it and it could kill u

  • Al Roker?

  • Instead of trying to use a wrist lock/grab "while leading" into your backfist. You can "also" use your forearm to break through his gaurd/punch to create an opening worth taking.

  • Thanks

  • shoryu ken?

  • lawl

  • when i watch the vid with his partner i feel like kylene person is accually gonna hurt him.

    expert village rocks

  • this is really sloppy shit lol

  • I wont contest that he knows what hes doing but he does not present well Oraly

  • Please, check out my Backfist tutorial. I think I have done a better job explaining this unique body weapon.

REMEMBER 2 Types of Backfist Strikes

    Whip Motion

    Knockdown Motion

  • This totally give the back fist a bad name, PUT YOUR WHOLE BODY INTO IT, like a whip. This guy isnt even close to fast. Where is his footwork? He isnt pivoting his feet! Why slap them like this when you can break their head!?

  • C'est vraiment le coup qui sert a rien!

Aucune puissance , pas plus facile a contrer , au moment ou il rentre en contact avec l'adversaire , il risque de se prendre un crochet du droit ce qui est bcp plus puissant.

    A EVITER!!

  • You know what I'd like to see?

This "black belt" get in to it with Kimbo Slice. See how his karate works then.

  • that looked like crap lmao

Their is no power in that punch = (

  • --(Never do that.)--

It leaves you right open to a punch if your not fast enuf. Martial Arts is ment to keep it so things like that dont happen.

Ps: Expertvillage has much better video's of doing boxing becouse it's much more easy to attack and defend. So mabey look at them.

If you need help on fighting/defend
