  • gusjet: love your comments. Let's get them back and have more solos. Wish I could find some more.

  • I love this guys! #ilvoloverforever

E i musicisti dell'orchestra li applaudono! E poi il gesto di grande signorilità dei ragazzi, che si voltano e si inchinano a rendere omaggio a quella meravigliosa orchestra... veramente grandi!

  • OMG!! Amo los geztos de Gian <3' en frances igual cantan BIEN! :3

  • This song is a perfect illustration why they are magic as a trio. None of them alone could have given a performance like this. They have three slightly different vocal ranges. Gianluca being the lowest, Piero being the upper tenor and Ignacio in the mid range. The combination is incredible and produces a sound unique in the music world. The certainly are not a copy of EL Divo (who i happen to like) but they are truly themselves IL VOLO.

  • @gusjet1

Il Divo is not able to deliver chorus singing by blending their voices like Il Volo boys do. They all sing in chorus as if they were each of them on their own, and their voices don't blend, but seem to try to overpower the others: I have listened to them, and even if I think they have single amazing voices, they are very bad regarding to chorus parts.

  • Q genial!! Gracias x la letra :)

Es increíble cómo consiguen dejarme sin aliento cuando los escucho con canciones como estas <3 <3 <3 Bellísimooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!

  • I understand they are coming back to the United States this year. I hope they sing this song on their television appearances. What could be better, three great Italian singers, singing a French song on American television, now that is international and i think American audiences will love it!!! Please expose this performance as much as possible, it is simply incredible.

  • @gusjet1 I think their voices are incredible! And yes, that would be wonderful if they sang this when they come back here! Any language they sing in, is so beautiful!

  • I knew this song in English (She), and Il Divo sings it in Italian!

In French sounds so romantic... <3

  • Gianluca - SUPER HOT

    Piero -SUCH A SWEETIE

    Ignazio - MARRY MEE <3

    I love this guys! their voices are just A M A Z I N G !

  • for those who don't know franch, go to translate.google.com, copy and paste the lyrics to translate from french to engish or whatever your language.

  • They just take me breath away with this song. I've seen them twice in concert and can't wait to see them again :)

  • OIRLOS CANTAR EN CUALQUIER IDIOMA LO PRONUNCIEN BIEN O MAL ES UN DELEITE PARA MIS OIDOS, ES UN BALSAMO, QUE DELICIA ESCUCHARLOS ESTA CANCION CANTADA DESPUES DE AZNAVOUR NADAMAS ELLOS Y NADIE MAS QUE MARAVILLA GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESTE VIDEO

  • SIMPLEMENTE HERMOSO

  • Mon beau coeur, cette magnifique interprétation me rappelle ton visage, ton Amour, ton être ... Je t'aime éperdument.

  • Hermosa interpretación del minuto 2:22 al minuto 2:36 <3

  • It is obvious this French Audience Loved them and they are not easy to please! I have never seen such immense talent in such you men ever! They may well end up becoming legendary talents, unparalleled in show business, we must keep reminding ourselves that all this and they aren't even 20 years of age! Still school boys and they are delivering incredible performances. They will match Andre Bocelli,Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Elvis Presley, etc. they will be ranked among the best ever!

  • @gusjet1 I major agree with everything you said....I think they are amazing...

  • @gusjet1 You are so right! It is hard to explain how wonderful they are. People see the ages and don't see (or hear ) They are a true gift to this weary world and I pray they continue!

  • OMG they sound incredible in French, even their gestures are French. They are true artists and will enjoy world fame for a long time, Maybe there entire lives! I wish them the best of success and look forward to seeing them again in person. Also I hope they put the french selections on their next American release they are superb

  • Wow, they sound wonderful in French, so beautiful. They should do a song with Celine in French that would be great!! This group has no boundaries do they? And they have only just begun.

  • HERMOSOS!<3

  • To see some 2 1/2 year old video clips of Piero, Ignazio & Gianluca, along with all the Italian TV competition members, do a Youtube search starting with "TI LASCIO"... followed by either "Il mio canto libero" or "I Migliori Anni della nostra Vita" or "Gianluca wins 2009" (this rare footage has finally been found).

For more great rare 2 1/2 year old moments search Youtube with "TI LASCIO" along with "New York New York & O Sole Mio" or with "Gianluca tears up".

    Check them before they're gone!!

  • @GerRoland Oh, Lord, I hope they (whoever they is) don't take them off. I have really enjoyed going back and looking at those old clips. You can really see the musical as well as physical growth in these guys. The talent and physical instrument was always there, but the maturity is just making it all richer. XO gramma BH

  • I was just reading many reviews. Although I agree that re-releasing the international CD as part of the package wasn't the best move, those who criticized the fact that there is no Italian Christmas song on the CD, while there is instead a German Christmas song... Stille Nacht (Silent Night), are missing the point... there are already plenty of Italian songs on the first album. IL VOLO is wildly popular in not only Italy, but also Germanic Europe, so this was a courtesy to all German speakers.

  • GerRoland... Many thanks for the info. When I pre-ordered there was only

one CD available, the 17 track. I was disappointed to find it was the first CD

plus 5 new Christmas tracks. Everyone who is a fan of theirs already has their

first CD. Still love them, no matter what!!!

  • @TheCanadamam I agree that our feelings for this rather strange CD special in no way reflects the feelings we have for IL VOLO themselves... after all "they don't run the show".

But it does beg the question as to why the "redundancy"? Did they have a lot of the international CDs left over, and this was a way to get rid of them? I would have preferred they include the Spanish version of the CD with the Christmas CD... that way we'd get some additional songs, such as Hasta El Final, my favorite!

  • I just re-read the Interscope/Geffen/A&M website and yes... their Christmas Album is a 5 track disc.

But their "Special Christmas Album" is these 5 tracks PLUS their regular 12 track CD released earlier this year.

This combo disc will not go over well with the fans..... especially those that thought they were getting more than what they already have (the International CD + the Christmas CD).

    What were they thinking?? :-(

  • Simply stunning.

  • GerRoland.... Do you know why the Christmas CD is a repeat of their first CD with only five Christmas songs?

    The Canadamam

  • @TheCanadamam I don't have the CD yet, but what I'm reading about in Amazon.com is not very flattering. They only released 5 songs (including an English and German "Silent Night") and one that is a "medley" of different Christmas songs merged together. OK, so there are maybe 7 or 8 songs on this CD... but I don't think a lot of fans are real happy, especially those who ordered the combined "Special" album that includes the regular CD plus the the Christmas CD.

  • @GerRoland Yup, I'm sure I speak for a lot of fans that had already bought several (both the English and the Spanish release) albums. When I got the Christmas special, I did, indeed, feel cheated. It doesn't make me love the boys any less and I love the Christmas stuff that they do do (I have never heard a better rendition of The Christmas Song, not even by Mr. Torme) but when you want to put on the album to run just the Christmas music (in a store, for instance), you can't. XOGBH

  • @TheCanadamam Now if they added Tous les visages de l'amour, plus Finiculi Finicula, Mama, plus their 3 solo songs, that may be OK. But to pay a lot of money for the original CD + only 5 Christmas songs... that would be not a very good move for Interscope/Geffen/A&M.... and could anger a lot of fans....

Will have to wait and see for more details.....

  • @GerRoland

The french edition of 2CD packaging includes "Tous les visages de l amour" on the first CD! Check out Amazon.fr

  • @italia57nik you mean tous les visages deI amour is only on their french album? why didn't they included on the English version too. That song is fantastic!. Oh well, they are trying to please a vast international audience and are succeeding. But i would really like to have them include Tous LEs visages in their next American release, I really like it.

  • @gusjet1 Yes, sadly it's only available on the French album. According to Tony Renis, he wanted to include this song on the debut album but Humberto Gatica conceived him to go on with Chaplin's Smile. However I managed to buy the album from the French Amazon and enjoying the song very much. I wish them record "Belle" from the musical "Notre Dame de Paris" for the second album!

  • Meu Deus! O talento deles me deixa muito impressionada e apaixonada por suas vozes! Venham para o Brasil! Por favor!

  • LOL!!! You should try this obsession at three quarters of a century!! You're right there, though. I have to listen to them at LEAST once a day . . . usually several times. My friends don't quite know what make of me these days!! The guys STILL give me what my daughter-in-law calls "chicken skin!" I don't see how they can NOT be affected by all the adulation, but GerRoland assures us that they have families that keep them well grounded. Let's pray so. . .

    XO gramma BH

  • GerRoland & ajac37..I have enjoyed reading yer comments...some made me laugh & some made me cry...my passion for Il Volo often has me crying...

  • <3 i love il volo!!! they're amazing!! i love this song!!! <3

  • @barbrab 101 you can pre-order the Christmas album @ Amazon.com. I ordered it and should get it last week of November. So excited they are just amazing .

  • i wonder why they don't have pre-order for the xmas album. I'm ready to order.

  • @barbrab101 You can pre-order on Amazon. Original ship date was Dec. 2, just notified this morning that the ship date has been moved to Dec. 6. You can also preorder the video that was produced in Detroit for PBS. It's due to be shipped March 9, I think.

    gramma BH

  • I love the French language and am so glad they sing in French also. This is fantastic. All three of them do a very good job!!

  • lankylassable That may be another CD that will release next year.

  • Amazon.com is releasing their Christmas CD on Nov.22 Yeah!!!!!

  • I absolutely love Il Volo! I'm wearing their CD out. LOL I believe this song is the theme song from Nottinghill with Julia Roberts. It would be great if they would put this song on their next album that's due out soon.

  • GerRoland Can you help? I can't find a release of their Christmas CD. Amazon.com doesn't have it yet. Help!! The Canadamam

  • @TheCanadamam I've just looked on Amazon and the release date has been changed from the 31st of October to February 2012. Why?

  • It just keeps getting better here in Detroit.... IL VOLO will be doing 2 back-to-back concerts at the Detroit Opera House... 1) their DVD Concert, and 2) a PBS TV Christmas Concert. Both to be taped on Oct. 27.

It's starting to look like an early IL VOLO Christmas here in Detroit! :-D

  • Check out the offical IL VOLO website for details... and also check out the IL VOLO Houston Fans Club on Facebook, where I posted some image links of the Italian Renaissance Detroit Opera House... "a slice of Italy right here in the USA"... ;-)

  • ****** IL VOLO ANNOUNCEMENT******

When IL VOLO finishes their North American Tour by the end of October, they will return to Detroit a 2nd time to do a concert DVD at the Detroit Opera House on Oct. 27. This will be for Public Television to be aired on March 3, 2012. However... it will be broadcast on Dec. 7, 2011 on Detroit PBS Station (IL VOLO's sponsor) WTVS, to be shown in the Detroit PBS viewing area.. metro Detroit and 1000 cities across Canada (WTVS is on Canada's Cable System).

  • OBSESSION, THY NAME IS IL VOLO!!!

How can we guarantee their Grammy nomination? Oh, I guess we can't. Just keep good tho'ts and keep buying those CDs!!

    XOgramma BH

  • @ajac37 I've said this before about IL VOLO... for some songs... like this one, E Piu Ti Penso, Hasta El Final, and La Mia Vita... you almost need a cigarette when they're done singing... lol

Their repetoire so far has been Latin (Ave Maria), Italian, Spanish, English, French... and for the Christmas album... German (Stille Nacht... Silent Night.... although that's still a secret! ;-)

  • @GerRoland I love that they're closing their show with stuff from their Christmas album. They made a joke about recording Christmas material in July. But hints have been given along the way about something in German. Sheese . . . I feel like such a slacker that I'm barely literate in ONE language.

Abut the cigarette . . . just talking about this makes me think I need one right now!! LOL!! . . . or maybe not LOL!!

    gramma BH

  • @GerRoland I just have to laugh. Did you watch the interview in Australia? What a relief to see their less-than-perfect arguing among themselves. I was like, "whew, they're REAL, honest-to-goodness, boys!!" Having taught teen-agers for 27 years, I'm glad to know they're NORMAL!!

I'm still blown away by their use of languages. I know they may be doing some songs phonetically and that living in Europe they've grown up speaking more than one language; but it still blows my mind.

    grammaBH

  • @ajac37 Yes... that Australian interview is very funny... the singing/arguing is ironically taking place in a men's public restroom... lol... It was likely the best place for their A Capella voices to sound their best... At first one may think that Ignazio is bullying Gianluca... but then Gianluca also interrupts their rehearsal... so there is plenty of tugging from all sides! Ah... the trials and tribulations of the "artistic temperment"! ;-)

  • @GerRoland Well . . . there's always this: THEY'RE ITALIAN . . . AND MUSICIANS!!! Generally speaking Italians are very vocal in their interactions. Plus they're teen age boys . . . No, no one was bullying, They were just trying to "get it right." . . . which they finally did!! And yes, being a musician married to a musician and raising two musician children, trust me, I KNOW about artistic temperment (accent on the first syllable!!) LOL LOL LOL!!!

    gramma bluehair

  • @GerRoland I agree Roland I think this is my favorite song among many , but i truly love this one. What an emotional artistic interpretation of a beautiful piece or musical art. These guys are true artists, I can't praise them enough.

  • @gusjet1 Gusjet1, I took 2 years of French in college (after getting college credit for already knowing German)... and I always have to laugh because French is best spoken when you look like you've been sucking on a lemon.... and wouldn't you know it... with his high cheekbones and facial expression... Gianluca has that exact look down to an art form... ;-)

  • @GerRoland You are sooooo funny, but I'm with you on the cigarette. Not sure I have enough breath left for a smoke. LOL

  • @ajac37 OBSESSION, THY NAME IS IL VOLO... love that..they became my passion shortly after I heard them sing...I keep thinking...am I going crazy?? I can't go a day without them...

  • u think somali s and arabs are going to keep this culture going.

  • Il Volo sings in french, spanish and Italian and I dont understand a word of any of the songs but their voices are so beautiful that I don't care. I don't know why anyone would expect them to sing in perfect French. They have an accent in English when they sing and more of an accent when they speak.

So what? They sound great whatever they do and their accent is charming.

  • Also, being able to understand 3 German dialects, it gives me a great appreciation for the Italian Neapolitan dialect songs (such as Finiculi Finicula and O Sole Mio). In German the Bavarian/Austrian dialect is the one often used for "folksy" dialect for old time German songs (Volksmusik).

  • @GerRoland As I said in a post somewhere else, these guys could sing Sanskrit in the key of Z and I wouldn't care. Such amazing and precious talent. Saw them this Fri. in S.F. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! If anything, better in person . . . well, aside from the tracs being too loud but that was the sound tech's fault, not theirs.

  • Una palabra: INCREIBLE

  • God forbid that I criticise Gianluca, he is nothing less than perfection when he sings, whatever the language. I live in France, although I am English, and know the differences in accent in French and in English too, for that matter. I think the kind of songs sung by Charles Aznavour or Reggiani (my personal favourite) would be given new life if sung by Il Volo. Thank you for posting it - je l'ai rate a la tele!

  • I have found another tiny, tiny fault with Gianluca's pronunciation after having watched the video oh, like, a hundred times (must do my research!). He has problems with the word "lendemains" which means "tomorrows," a difficult word in French, but more than makes up for it because he has the proper French cadence to his singing. All in all, I think that they all do a wonderful job as it must be frankly terrifying to sing in an unfamiliar language.

  • @lankylassable .I shall like to speak Italian or English as they pronounce French.....In France, the pronunciations are differentes according to regions ( Alsace, Provence, Bretagne or Sud Ouest), then I forgive him this tiny, tiny fault....

  • Piero sounds amazing. I dont even look at Gianluca or Ignazio.

  • @SuperRipley8 I love these 3 young singers for quality voice, but in this song, it"s Gianluca who have the best pronunciation, and when we are French as me, we have difficulty in understanding Piero. French is not his favorite language. What deprives nothing of the quality of his amazing voice.

  • Piero sounds amazing. I dont even look at Gianluca or Ignazio.

  • I mean Il divo does recycle all the songs so it can get boring after a while.

  • They should try to do more original songs not old songs recycled again. Like Il DIVO. But still its a good rendition.

  • @SuperRipley8 This broadcast was shot in Quebec, and the subject was tribute to the big French-speaking artists. Thus normal that IL VOLO recycles a french old song......For the biggest happiness of my ears (I admit it.......)

  • @SuperRipley8 Their form of singing is "Operatic-Pop"... not "Pop". Thus old songs are very appropriate. Many young peope had never even heard of O Sole Mio, Finiculi Finicula, or Il Mondo. So for young people this is "new". And for older folks that may have heard Elvis's version of O Sole Mio or the original 1898 Neapolitan original, it brings out the nostalgia in us. Il VOLO sings to make us feel good, and in that they have succeeded very well.

  • @GerRoland Well said. I am 16 and this isn't young for me. I love operatic voices. AND operatic metal.

  • Unfortunately that wonderful 4;42 min. Hasta El Final has been removed from Youtube due to copyright reasons! :-(

I just checked the Chicago IL VOLO Concert videos (3 so far), and they were great! Funny comments also. Chicago (3,600 seats) has been their largest venue to date.

  • AWESOME!

  • OMG!! the're singing in French!! :O GENIAL!!

  • OMG!!! they're singing in French!!! :O YUUUUSH!!!! Reusit!

  • Wow! Ok, a new favorite! They just keep being amazing! Italian, Spanish, English, and French...They give us on YouTube and those able to see them in person so much pleasure! I pray God be with them always!

  • @Soulsinger96 It was confirmed that a German song will be on the Christmas CD out later this year, possibly Silent Night. When you add to that that Gianluca has sung Ave Maria in Latin... that would make 6 languages... WOW! And for their fall concert tour they added Finiculi Finicula (an 1880 Neapolitan favorite), and Mamma (a song that has been popular for decades throughout Europe in the local language).

  • @GerRoland It is not so easy to keep up with comments here, but aren't you originally from Germany? That is neat if they sing a German song- I lived in Germany as a child and know some German from college too. So I would perhaps really understand, although as I said, music is a language of the soul. They truly sing from their hearts. I listen to them every day usually here but also from their CD as I'm driving. Thanks for all your input!

  • @Soulsinger96 Yes, I am German, came to the USA at age 5 (a long time ago!). My parents always made sure that we only spoke German to them, so I can speak 3 dialects... High German, Franconian and Danube Swabian. That's why I got such a chuckle out of the guys with their German imitations in the Malaysia interviews. Ignazio sounds spot on with his slower Bavarian/Austrian imitation.

Looking forward to Nov. 30... the date we find out the regular Grammy nominations for next February's show.

  • Pincezmoijereve13... this Video comments page seems to be a favorite "hangout" for many of us "diehard" IL VOLO fans. WIth Eisstern500, SunnySuey, crankycarole, gusjet and SpaghettiGirl1982 and many others posting frequently here! ;-)

  • @GerRoland I am happy that this video pleases you, and that the comments which you leave, gather the irreductibles fans of this group. I hope that we shall make the other emulators who will come to join us. I find brilliant that we are all of a corner different from the planete and that in spite of our various cultures and languages we love all .....IL volo ! . Enjoy .......

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 Merci mille fois! Danke tausend mal! Thanks a thousand times! In every language it means the same! And so does music...

As you said we come from the differnt corners of the planet to enjoy WONDERFUL MUSIC.. There are people of all ages who all agree to this... the very young, teenagers, young adults, middle age adults, even older people. Gianluca speaks for all of IL VOLO when he states "this is our power". And that power includes all ages and all nationalites!

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 I'm here too a LOT- I love Il Volo! I thank you too that you uploaded this video! They are special special guys that are a gift to the world. I don't understand what they are singing that much as I mostly speak English, but it dosen't matter- music is a language of the soul...I first heard them on the Tonight Show and CBS and then looked them up on here. I can't get enough of them!

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 just a P.S it's not "lendemains" it's "le demains"

  • @beckieILTL " Le demains" doesn't mean anything in French. Where did you get that from? "Lendemains" means 'tomorrows" i.e. the future - he is saying that he is scared of the future. Trust me.

  • @beckieILTL Or he could just be saying "J'ai si peur de demain" which means "I'm so scared of tomorrow" but DEFINITELY not "le demains".

  • @beckieILTL I have just looked at the original lyrics for the song and the complete phrase is "J'ai si peur de mes lendemains" Gianluca stumbles a little on this phrase, which, as I've said before, is quite difficult to pronounce.

  • @beckieILTL In french, DEMAIN mean the day later today. LENDEMAIN indicates an indistinct future. In this song Charles AZNAVOUR says " j'ai si peur de mes lendemain" I am so afraid of future

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 okayy I get it goshh..... ¬¬ I was just saying because im in french 4 at my school && my teacher always told me that "demain" means tomorrow so wouldn't it be logical for it to be "Les Demains?" because then it would be "the tomorows"? but yes I just looked up the lyrics && it says "lendemain"

  • @beckieILTL I am also a French teacher and your French teacher is right, but I don't really want to get into grammatical discussions, although I find myself being drawn into them! Suffice it to say that "demain" is only used to mean "tomorrow" from the viewpoint of "today". There is no plural. OK? ;-) The fact that I teach(or taught) French is one of the reasons why I can really appreciate Gianluca's pronunciation and intonation.

  • @lankylassable ohhh okay :) well thanks for explaining that...

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 Yes, thank you for sharing this one, one of my favorites. It is terrific that people from all over love Il Volo. Music is the universal language! I don't really mind not understanding the words.

  • @GerRoland

Yes frequently here- but yesterday (here in Austria it`s ten in the morning now) I got stuck on a video from Chicago where the guys are singing "E piu ti penso" :-) I watched it several times because it`s so heartbreaking- if I would be a smoker I would have smoked a whole packet of cigarettes after that.

  • @GerRoland Hay G...thanks for including me in the diehard hangout group...I love posting comments and reading everyones comments....that is next to the one main love of listening & watching Il Volo do their magic..

  • Singing in French now. I heard Il Volo in an interview where they said they sang in French also. WOW!!! Terrific. What voices these teenagers have!!!

  • To all Il Volo fans. Go to Google and put in Il Volo in Toronto. You shoul see a listing for a video for 44 mins. First song is choppy but the rest are great. TheCanadamam

  • @TheCanadamam I stumbled upon that video a while back & really love it...I watch it a lot. I would have loved to be in that audience..so close & I bet they got to visit with the boys after..Thats on my bucket list...I would just die to talk to them...I have them all on a big pedestal..However I know they are human & I hope they stay that way even with their magical talent..

  • The only fault I can find is that he pronounces "amour" the Italian way - like"amor", whereas the French pronounce it more "amooor." One of the amazing things about him is that he is very much a man when he sings, yet in interviews, reverts to the teenager he is in reality!

  • @lankylassable

I agree with you, that`s the only thing that you can "criticize" on his French- all in all this song is perfect for him- he has the best charisma for singing French :-) I´ve the feeling I`m on my schoolweek in France again :-)

I can hardly understand Piero in this song...

  • @Eisstern500 I put the lyrics in French in comments (for all people interhook and who want to read these lyrics )

  • @lankylassable Thanks! That's very perceptive of you! Several others have noticed the same thing... even back when he was 14 performing IL MARE CALMO DELLA SERA and LA LUNA CHE NON C'E. Even back then he looked like a man until the very end of the song.. when he smiles and says "GRAZIE"... then you saw the face of a teenager.

  • @lankylassable You're right and i agree your idea! he is "man-child" and it's his Enormous and colossal charm! of course!

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 Gianluca has a rare gift... he can sing French, Spanish, English and even Latin (Ave Maria) songs as though he knew how to sing them all his life, as he has with Italian. And for a few minute he even convinces us that he's not Italian.

By December we will see how he does with German for the Christmas CD. I know someone who's already heard it, and they said that Gianluca "continues to deliver" with his talent.

I don't think that IL VOLO could ever exits without him..

  • @GerRoland

I`m looking forward to their Christmas CD :-)

I think that each of the guys has something very special that can´t be missed. Especially their different personalities make the group such interesting.

I can`t imagine a performance without Ignazios` smile and his clear and high voice.

I can`t imagine a performance without Pieros` stunning voice which gives me goosebumbs every time I hear him sing and his nice charisma.

And last but not least I can`t imagine a performance ...

  • ... without Gianlucas` heartfelt lines and his gorgeous looks :-)

  • @Eisstern500 (Schön hast du's gesagt!) Well stated! The German language Christmas song was told to me as "O Holy Night"... but I countered with "I thought that song was French?" Perhaps the word "Night" was correct, but instead of "O Holy"... perhaps it was "Silent"?

At the Borgata (Atlantic City) concert, Gianluca appeared the most approachable of the 3... this counters peoples impression of him as very shy.

Now to check out Tononto Video...

  • @GerRoland

Dankeschön :-) I`m so excited how they sound in German- can`t wait....hm "O holy night" is in my opinion also a French song- but I remember a German interview before "Wetten dass" where Gianluca said something about "Stille Nacht"- i hope it is this song, it`s my favourite Christmas song and then these great voices- wow- that would be wonderful.

Hm I always thought he doesn`t speak as much as the other guys because his English is not so good- that was my feeling.

  • @GerRoland

I watched the video from this TV show in Chicago- there is something which makes me angry- these constantly question whether they have a girlfriend or not- they are three teenagers and that`s their private life.

  • @Eisstern500 IL VOLO were at the 1000 seat show in Atlantic City and 2600 seat show in Toronto... now they are in Chicago at the very ornate and beautiful 3,600 seat Chicago Theatre. Later they will perform in LA (2,200 seats) and NYC (2,600 seats). Their largest venue will be the über ornate Detroit Fox Theatre (5,174 seats). Detroit could be the site of their Concert DVD... maybe. Their CD was supposed to be it in the Roman Coliseum back in Sept., but we're not sure they performed there.

  • @GerRoland Il volo also wouldnt exist without Piero or Ignazio. Im buying il volo album bcos of Piero not for Gianluca. Not everyone is attracted to latin looks. I saw them in real life, Ignazio and Piero are cuter in person. Piero looks like manga cartoon came to life. He was definitely hands down the most popular in Spore. They were all screaming his names. Ignazio surprisingly quite popular too.

  • @SuperRipley8 Thanks for your comments. I think that in different parts of the world different traits are apparently popular. That's good... it keeps all 3 guys grounded. In their home country of Italy Gianluca is more popular, while outside of Italy that changes, depending on the area. Maybe if you checked on Youtube "Andrea Bocelli's message to Gianluca Ginoble" or "Omaggio a Gianluca Ginoble", you would find that part of the attraction of Gianluca comes from before IL VOLO got started.

  • @GerRoland You know, the show where Bocelli spoke to Gianluca was absolutely precious. I go back and watch it about once a week. What a humble and tender spirit Gianluca displayed. It will be difficult to keep that in this business, but let's hope they are the well grounded boys they appear to be. love 'em . . . gramma bluehair

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 I found a Grammy announcement today. The regular USA Grammy nominations won't be announced until 30 November.. for the 2012 Grammy Awards Show in February. The awards are for groups that released albums between Oct. 2010 through Oct. 2011

It would be wonderful if they were nominated for New Pop Artists. Although it would be presuptuous to suggest that they will get a nomination., from a purely vocal perspective they are without peer.

  • I first discovered Il Volo about six months ago and think they are incredible. I love them all, but think Gianluca is the real star. He is so handsome and his voice makes me want to float away. As far as French accents go, Ignazio's is charming, mispronouncing many words which just adds to the charm, Piero's is difficult to understand, but Gianluca's is practically perfect and he even adds Gallic hand gestures! ( I am English/French bilingual, by the way).

  • @lankylassable Thank you for your feedback... I took 2 years of French in college, but I'm not fluent enough to comment on their language skills... although I "absolutement" agree that Gianluca's hand gestures and facial expressions are spot on!!

Ignazio and Piero probably took Spanish as their 2nd language in school in Italy. It's obvious that none of them took English, since they teach mainly Oxford English in Europe. I wonder if French was Gianluca's 2nd language in school?

  • @lankylassable I too think they are all 3 terrific, but Gianluca's voice is so polished and beautiful. I can't get enough of "Il Volo." Their music is gorgeous, amazing and also calming in the midst of this crazy world.

  • @Soulsinger96 I think the thing I love most about Gianluca's voice, apart from its beautiful tone, is the depth of feeling he puts into it. When I listen to "Painfully Beautiful" it almost breaks my heart! You're right about its calming influence, I often listen to their CD just before going to bed, and it calms me right down. Better than any sleeping pill!

  • Gianluca has the perfect "nasal" quality to sing this in French! All 3 of them sing this beautifully, no matter what! Love it, and love Il Volo!

  • Found an new Australian interview that Spaghetti, Carole and Gus have not yett seen! (no comments yet!) ;-)

Do a Youtube search on (a very unusual seach) "6.30 - Teen chorus soars"

This is a very funny interview, because we get to see them argue over a song.. lol

  • @GerRoland

I know this one, it`s really funny and I like it because it shows them as normal teenagers.....

  • i am going to try to convince my french teacher to let us watch this video :) in class! she will probably make us translate it but as long as i get to see && hear them sing this song i am OKAY!!

  • I would love to hear them in German , then I would understand everything because I`m from Austria :-) but I think it`s really hard to learn, especially the pronunciation....

I would die for an IL VOLO version of "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht" (silent night, holy night)- it`s our most famous Christmas song

  • @Eisstern500 You must be clairvoyant! They were very likely taping their Christmas album this week in London. London is where Abbey Road Studios are, that is where IL VOLO recorded their first CD. Chances are good that IF they have Silent Night on their Christmas CD, it will be in German, after all they are learning at least some German.

They left London yesterday and are now in New York City getting ready for their first North American Concert in Atlantic City on the 24th of September.

  • @GerRoland

Wow, I`m looking forward to hearing this CD :-) and I hope "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht" will be in German although they mentioned that the language which is very hard to learn is German...

When do they sleep? they are on the road all the time, I can`t imagine a life like the guys have ;-)

  • @Eisstern500 OK... all I can do is confirm with 100% certainty that there WILL be German on the Christmas CD... German may be the hardest language to learn for IL VOLO... but they'll at least learn it enough to sing! (They're not just learning it just to say "Danke Schön"! ;-)

  • @GerRoland

I like their "Dankeschön"- it sounds really charming :-)

It`s logical, that learning French or Spanish is more easy for them because it`s the same language family as Italian.

I had French and Latin at school and so I can understand a little bit of Italian although I haven`t learned it.

  • Pincez, Gus and Carole... With IL VOLO now singing in Italian, Spanish, English and now French... I've been trying to think of a German song that IL VOLO could do... a dificult task... but I think I FINALLY came up with a nice orchestral song for them to do... by a German/Austrian duo... do a Youtube search on "Marianne & Michael Des Ist Freiheit"...

Austria was IL VOLOs most successful country (per capita)... this song would cater to both German and Austrian audiences... what do you think?

  • I admit they sing well even if I not understand everything and I prefair the original version with Charle Aznavour. Sorry for my english if there are spelling errors, I'm French.

  • I'm always amazed at how his handlers do Gianluca's hair.... straight with some wave (but perfectly coiffed) in USA venues, curly and moussed in Mexican and Italian venues, with that "parrot feathering" in Australian venues... and just slightly "askew" in French venues... a coiffure for all seasons (and locations)...

  • Velvety...yes that is Gianluca's voice...Goosebumps...

  • pincezmoijereve13...I am looking forward to hearing your review from the Nice concert...

  • I heard this song in English & it is beautiful, I wish the boys would sing it in English also. It would be a good song for a cd...

  • Another love song superbly done.... which (as I've stated before) is why you almost need a cigarette when they're done singing...

  • @GerRoland ...heh heh love your comment....I'm ready for my cigarette mr. dimil....play it again sam..." love" this video...

  • Great news that they have 2 nominations (best new group and best Pop Album) for the Latin Grammy Awards in November.

I really have a good feeling that they may just get a nomination or two for next February's regular Grammy Awards!! ;-D

  • @GerRoland Here is an excellent news in my rainy Sunday! It is certain, they have lot of the talent, Spontaneity and freshness...... it had been a long time since in France we had seen that!....

I am going to see them in concert in Nice, and I shall try to review you this fantastic evening.

  • @Pincezmoijereve13 Absolutemont magnifique!! Also Nice... is not very far from Sanremo.... where it all began for "Jean-Luc, "Pierre" and "Nazio"... on "Ti Lascio Una Canzone" RAI TV Competition in May 2009...

  • @GerRoland My fingers are crossed...that would be awesome..love them so much...their music really makes my day...

  • Gianluca's french accent is wonderful. Lovely song to hear them sing----loved it!

  • @04Ammy04 I can also hear how Gianluca's beautiful voice is developing and maturing already! His vibrato is is smoother and more mature! Love them.

  • ils sont fabuleux ,mignons et talentueux

  • Yes, wow! Singing in French! And so beautifully! All 3 are amazing! May God continue to bless them!
