Amazing...i love the movement of this style...i'm a bagua man but i have much respect for fu zhongwen style...to bad its very hard to find teachers of this style who not only can perform but also use it.
novell bell is not fu style bagua he studies yin and this guy was just a student of the Fu family he clearly shows a rigid performance of FU style not incorperating the waist like Master Fu
This Form is about evading....staying on the outside of your opponent.....but then again if you didn't know that then you don't know much....but you will learn!!! First Lyoto Machida and next its time for the Kung Fu peeps to take the Octagon. Don't hate on what you don't understand
This 'IS' Fu-style Ba-Gua,...and it is 'NOT' nonsense! Just because you don't understand, or are not able to 'see' the applications in the coiling & spinning movements,...go study with Master Gracenin in PA.! May we All be able to move like Si-Fu Zhai at this age!!! Jei-ge' si tai-hao le'!!!
When I watched Master Gracenin's video, I noticed that he reduced the number of revolutions on the one legged spins. I tried to learn the original way once and kept spinning off my axis. Reducing spins makes more sense for those who are equilibrium-challenged like me.
But i should clarify, i am only saying it is nonsense if it is supposed to be a useful movement for fighting. I am sure it keeps you fit, like any other flavor of bagua does.
why is it nonsense? Look at the fundementals. Circling your opponent is STILL used in almost all fighting styles. Just watch Friday Night Boxing for a simple example.
All i am saying is this. The only person who should be able to claim Baguazhang as their style is yin fu, men baozen, xei peiqi, and He Jinbao. Nobody else learned the entire style. etc. So the rest of the people just added a bunch of other shit to it and called it their style bagua, "fu" for example. Maybe i could digest some of those movements as plausible, but that turning on the ball of the foot more than one rotation like a dance move is complete nonsense, for sure.
The creator of Fu style was known as the solitary defender of an entire village and often faced multiple opponents using his spinning to place him into advantageous positions when evading
I spar against Mr. Novell G. bell the BlackTaoist a few mouths ago, I was highly amaze with his skillfulness to apply BaGuaZhang in fighting .few people know Mr. Bell a fu style Bagua guy too. I think fu style can be functional if learn correctly as any warfare martial art.
Ever accidentally hit someone when you were sparring? Ever try to make that happen whenever you wanted? The power is not obvious until someone is actually trying to attack you. The results will be the only way you can tell whether or not there was any power in what he was doing. Arts such as Baji, Xing Yi, Chen Taichiquan, Tianlong Dao, and Liuhebafa use yì, dé and sōng through correct timing, distancing, posturing, positioning. Much respect to all.
He probably does not train, as much now. As you get older, You probably scaled down, and do the basic stuff. The practical stuff. You have to have incredible knee and ankle dexterity to do this. I give him a thumbs up. Great video...I hope i can move like that a 70.
Nice style but maybe cuz of his age there is no show of power and full body integrated movement. Perhaps he should work on using his waist better. The spinning is cool though.
Well, not only unigue and entertaining, but useful too. i saw a lot that can be uitilized to fight with. not all of it cause i'm a taijiquan stylist and only cross train certain things in baqua & hsing i . awesome
where and when was this?

Why do so many people on YouTube talk so much nonsense? What can you possibly gain by callously criticizing the elders?

He's actually won the "Best Disco Dancer" prize in Beijing High School. I should know, I was the runner-up!
Actually, all jokes aside, I actually learned a lot from watching this ancient Master!
