Mick Jones is the Paul McCartney of the Clash - both are considered "lesser band members" to Strummer and Lennon, respectively, which is a load of crap.
This one goes out to SteveyGreen from NYC, whose father was not merely a drunk, but a *one-legged* drunk. I need hardly specify that Steve turned out a punk.
For some reason I keep imagining Green Day covering this song. Something 'bout punks who get so damn good at writing pop hooks they transcend I guess.
Mick learned to play guitar in 1972, four years before he formed the Clash. His first guitar was a second-hand Hofner that he bought for 16 quid. His mate Robin taught him some chords and the rest is history.
mick i feel your pain i two had a dad who was a drunk but 1 hell of a grate mam 2 see me throw it all tho so it whernt all bad lol at the same time this song is grate but how come i turned out a punk and i love it
I had an epiphany on this one. The lyric is; "I didn't like jazz, I didn't like funk." There was a band in the distant mists of the past call Parliament Funk or P-Funk for short. Hence the title of the album F-Punk.
Thanks for the info, i look forward to hearing this stuff. I managed to get hold of B.A.D's last unreleased album 'Entering A New Ride' i can't believe a label didn't jump at the chance to mark the occasion.
F*****g great, Mick!
