The project was a SCAM. I want everyone to be aware that "Afro" and "Jonathan" are scam artists. The project leader, Ghost, stated he was well aware that they were making fake screenshots and that the paypal account that the donations went to was "shut down" ... Yeah, right. He made 1,000 bucks over the course of 9 months and shut everything down. Just be more aware of who you trust in the future, that site was a scam from the beginning.

Their host/domain got suspended. Maybe EA really did want to get rid of it, or, they're planning to launch a new online version of the Sims.

Well think about it guys, I know it sucks that EA had to do this, but did anyone think that perhaps one of the reasons EA did this is because they are thinking about doing a Sims Online themselves in the near future, maybe for The Sims 4 or something...? Maybe EA wanted to save the idea and profit for themselves. Would it make sense to have this Sims Online game and then have another one made by EA later on? You never know what will happen... Just saying, but I could be wrong though......

To let everyody know, TSO Restoration hasn't stoped yet. What happen was that Ghost got this letter from EA telling them to cease ALL work on the project and Ghost, (being a gentlemen as he is), stopped eventually. The reason they stopped was because things fell-apart on the inside, it wasn't all EA's fault. A few of the other developers kept working on the project on some other site. I can tell you that Afr0, (Matt), is still working on the project. Though I'm not sure if Jonathan still is.

They saw a left over community from The Sims Online and targeted it, and rolled out the "donations" wagon and stole over 2,000 dollars and shoved off with an elaborate "cease and desist" order. It was all fabricated.

They probably closed it since EA would do the whole David vs Goliath situation where even if they did not win one lawsuit, they would keep filing one until the other party is bankrupt. EA hold the Intellectual Property to the sims online and the sims in general, the DMCA is the biggest load of shit to ever hit the earth and is used and abused by large companies to gain and monopolize. It's sad, but that's life.

@VladVidan they were not "SO CLOSE" to finishing it... all they had finished in their most recent alpha was the ability to place floor tiles, only ONE house on the server, no avatar creation, nothing except random tiles being able to be placed by a maximum of 16 players at a time... too bad to see it go though

@beatlesbarb no doubt man i was a part of the project and it was so unorganised it wasnt even funny, no one knew who was doing what, the guy who led the project was a huge douchebag who was on a powertrip who didnt want to listen to any constructive critism, it seemed like there was no one there with any game development or project management background, they were led to think this one guy jonathan was making lots of progress when all he was doing was making fancy flash animations

@bigbadndn Ghost responded to criticism like a butthurt baby who didn't believe in such talk on his forums. He'd make cynical remarks and statements and blatantly attack people or remove their posts if he didn't agree with them. It was the most disorganized insult to anyones intelligence who liked The Sims Online I'd ever seen and almost everything he told us and shared with us was fake screenshots or made up lies on progress.

@beatlesbarb furthurmore, they werent shut down by EA they gave up because they knew they were totally incapable of bringing back the sims online, they didnt have anything for EA to sue them on. but they did accept more than $2000 dollars in what they referred to as "donations" and i do not beleive that any of that money was returned when they abandoned the project #epic failure
