Y E S !! what an era !!!! I was 13 the same age as my grandaughter is now and to think what she listens to as opposed to back then :( its a SHAME !!!!!!!! SAD !
Ricordi, ricordi.... Ricordo questo lento ballato guancia a guancia. Ricordo sguardi, parole non dette. Ricordo sogni ad occhi aperti. Sentimenti nascosti di una dolcezza estenuante.
According to the labels on the Jack Scott 45s I have, and the one spinning here,
the vocal group backing up Jack is the Chantones, they do sound a bit like the the Jordanaires though. I certainly agree that Jack should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. Though he was considered one of the teen idol singers of the era, he had a style & sound all his own. One of the stand outs of his time and sadly somewhat forgotten today.
You have just listened to one of the greatest recording artists in the world. Truly a legend in his own time with that God given voice of his. Jack still performs today at some of the clubs in michigan where he lives. Thanks Jack for all the great songs and the memories.
A Top 5 hit for Jack Scott in August 1958. It was kept out of the #1 spot by Domenico Modugno's Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu) and The Elegants (Little Star).
WOW--talk about reaching into the memory bank. I recall this song very well--I was in the 7th grade at the time--and can remember passing the ice cream parlor in Washington heigfhts-Manhattan--and almost always hearing this one by Jack Scott.
I remmeber too--on one of those days--they raised the price of a malted milk to 25 cents!!!--
Quando uscì questo disco, erano gli anni belli della mia giovinezza. Quante volte l'ho ballato, guancia a guancia, con il cuore che tremava. Ora c'è solo il ricordo e la nostalgia di quell'estate ormai tanto lontana.
I am a Hospice helper and my first time hearing this record was with a very special family. The husband sang this to his wife for 36 years and meant every word. She played it while he was on his way to the other side. It was very moving. They have a love that will last for always!
I have a 45 copy of this same record, same label & everything, it looks mint but it plays like really "fuzzy".. maybe they pressed it funny,? it doesn't sound like any kind of groove damage / wear that I've ever heard.. your copy sounds great!! Nice to hear it sounding good!
When this song was on the charts, a couple in Gary, Indiana welcomed their seventh of nine children into the world. The couple was Joe and Katherine Jackson. It was a boy and they named him Michael Joseph. And as Paul Harvey always said, You know the rest of the story.
Jack Scott - truly one of the greatest singers ever to record. Jack is still touring and does the Rock N Roll shows. Also plays the clubs in Michigan if your luckey enough to get a ticket. Still has that God given great voice.
I was 20 when this came out in 1960.I was A Mod recently converted from a Teddy boy Oh what it was like in the good old days. So much freedom and Love>
This song takes me back to the summer of 1960. When I was 19 I remember hanging out at BIG BOYS DRIVE IN in PHILA. PA. I remember the girls the guys the cars. But most of all I remember PAT
Thanks for posting this fabulous song. I was 10 years old living in Hoboken NJ when it came out. It is still one of my all time favorites. Does anybody know the name of the group that backed him? They did a fantasic job also.
Sometimes Jack sounded if he was being played at the wrong speed. "What in the World's come over you" is another example. I preferred his rock songs "Leroy" and "Baby Baby"
Jack Scott, with his effective vocal backing and minimal instrumentation, really delivers a memorable performance here. What amazes me, too, is that the extraordinarily slow tempo actually enhances the lyrics and enables the listener to 'savor' their meaning.
this was such a great song for the time !

Any `Greatest Hits' compilation of Jack's Scott's music constitutes some of the most worthwhile listening.
The R&R Hall Of Fame needs to consider a place for him.
He has a naturally good voice, no commercial stylizing needed.
Thanks for posting it and showing the original issue.
