Was there a piece on this that ran in other areas anytime recently? I've been called by these people 4 times now and I expect to be called again eventually.
One day when they called me I had a freshly installed virtual PC running Win XP on hand. I played along, and gave them access to the virtual PC, and installed IOBit Advanced SystemCare onto it. Then I lost the call. I established that they had installed a keylogger onto the virtual PC. Most likely they were after passwords and bank accounts.
Don't try this at home. I seem to have been recorded as an easy mark and since then have received calls from them regularly, often twice in a day.
I JUST got a CALL from these idiots , luckily i KNEW he was trying to access my computer remotely and i told him i wasnt going to allow him access to my computer and GOOD TRY THO! watch out for this one!
@saskajules , ever since 2003 when my Windows computer got an e-mail virus, I added Linux in 2005 and by 2009 went totally Linux. No worries about nor do I have to buy Norton or AVG virus software, so if someone were to call me on the phone saying my computer has a virus, I know they're spouting BS.

It's like..O.K dumbass are you hacking into my computer right now? Really. You're a dumb @$%^$^. And what kinda moron lets "someone" at random take control of their computer. Lol. Yay for Linux. XDD
thank GOD we got people like rougeamp danooct1 and tomktw around to show us all these rouges, trojans, badjokes, viruses, ransomeware and the list goes on! I actualy saved one computer from there education.
This scam has well and truly "done the rounds" so I'd ne amazed if anyone was caught out by them now. But I continue to get calls from these scammers even though when they now call I just play with them. However I what surprises me is that although we are inundated with these types of calls nothing in the UK has been done, by either the police, local authorities or govenrment or even int ISP'S to alert the general public to this scam.
They can only pull these off, because they are safely hidden, and no one can go after them, unless you have the nerves and money to travel to pakistan. If they have a website, it is funny to read their "privacy policy": It consists of "must give us the data" and "user is required to give us his personal data", but nowhere it says your data is kept "internal", so in other words, your credit card number and dara will be sold out on the streets for a couple of rands, maybe some private photos too.
@Texas2SF Don't ever tell them that they scam or anything abusive to them, they then get angry and sell your identity. Just a warning, don't ever swear to them or shout to them and end the call. Always something like "I don't have internet" or "I don't have a computer." Just a nice warning for everybody too.
@MrRidingman That was the exact fake number they gave me... 1226 444 0055 and told me it was toll free... fucktards, thats not a toll free number lol... They guy said his name was Roderick Jones lmfao! Indian guy named Jones....
Just got a call now. Waiting for them to call back because my mom told them that I was not home but I would be in 5 minutes. When they call back, I am going to record everything and give them a peace of me. I am going to say that I am doing what they are asking for, but I actually wont. I am going to have some fun with this Try Hard. He picked the wrong Craka to FUCK with!
I also got this sort of fake comptuer virus scam yesterday and i asked them what kind of comptuers they have and they immeidately hung up on us. i didn't let the scammers get the best of me when they called us baout this and they did call us again before. why do we get this sorts fo calls
All you have to do is ask them what kind of computer you have and they won't answer you or they will hang up like the one that called me did.
With any fishy call, if you ask the right questions you won't let scammers get the best of you. A distant relative who needs money or your computer has a virus, ask the right questions and you'll be fine because some of them do come off really believable.

I keep getting their calls, and they argue with me, when I tell them of their scam!
I've called the SFPD and filed a harrasement complaint, 2 calls in SEP, and 3 in the last week. Google it: "Microsoft scam on the Phone"
