Sit down, close your eyes, play this song and you will feel the memories of loves past and gone wash over you. Don't believe me? Try it and you will be stunned. Beauty in sound
Thank you for downloading this. It tore my heart a little, right along the scar that was made 25 years ago. I actually didn't cry until I found myself singing it hours later, cleaning the kitchen. That was when it hit, and I had to try to explain to my son why I was crying. Thank you, frithuswith, for that moment of beauty.
@bookwyrm73 While I agree whole heartedly with your feelings on this... the song is more specifically referring to the scar made roughly 9 years ago. He refers to their weight returning as they re-enter the atmosphere and mentions the fact they're almost home.
Both tragedies affected me profoundly, but I think the Columbia disaster is the one that really gets to me for simply that reason.... they were almost f*cking home.
Thank you for uploading this. It was so wonderful to listen to it during the cruise - it is both haunting and beautiful and it still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
Roderick absolutely blew me away the whole time, but this was stunning. I'd even heard the song before, but it was more powerful live and with the backup vocals he was getting here.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house after that curtain whipped up to show the star field. The technical guys had a good feel for the crowd the whole time, but that was amazing.
the live version is even more powerful than the version on his album! thank you for uploading this, i neglected to get a recording, just got a few still shots.
John Roderick and Mike Phirman were the biggest unknowns to me at the beginning of the cruise, but their performances were awesome. I'm definitely paying attention from now on.
The most moving and powerful live performance I have ever seen! I will never forget it! Brings tears to my eyes just watching the video again! I wish everyone would have been able to experience it live like we did. They deserved every second of the standing ovation they received!!!!!
This song still moves me to tears every time...
Every. Single. Time.

One of the first things I did after coming back from the cruise was buy his albums. This song made me bawl like a baby.

it's just not possible to convey the power of John Roderick's voice via recording. i am still ringing like a bell from it.

Thanks for this. Possibly the most memorable moment (musically) from the cruise.
