  • You're not quite getting it. You need to close your hafting angle, and keep your blade sliding on the ground, in the direction that the tip is pointing. You are trying to cut with the entire edge at once. Most people assume that is how you are supposed to use the scythe, but it's not designed to be used like that. The blade cuts by sliding the length of the edge along the grass at an angle, not by hitting the grass straight on. Make sense?

  • @Scythesman8...... Yep you are right. I noticed it in your video. Initially I thought that the blade may not be sharp enough and then I noticed the angular application. I'm sticking with it and can't wait until the is sufficient long grass to have another go. Thank you for the helpful comment.

  • @MrPlanesforever1 You are also right. It doesn't look very sharp. It also doesn't look like a very good quality scythe. I recommend the scythes at The Scythe Shop in the U.K.
