  • & I love how we're all enjoying this & posting positive comments. Finding so many people that also really enjoy & understand & appreciate Boards of Canada is so damn cool! It feels like we're all somehow this kinda family thats operating on a higher level of mind & heart & soul & magic. Almost like we were all seperated at birth even if our ages differ somewhat & like we've never met but some how always known eachother telepathically or something. Boards of Canada is the best magic that ever..

  • This brings back so many of my early childhood memories & feelings from the early & mid 1980s... Its weird how so many of us get that same feeling from Boards of Canada's music, its just weird... so weird but so damn cool & amazing really.. like they figured out how to layer some kind of memory triggering signals into the sound. I've ALWAYS gotten that same feeling from their music ever since the first 1 I ever heard, "ROYGBIV" back around year 2000 or so & fell in love with them.

  • Boards of Canada makes me want to grow down.

  • Did anyone see the words in there 'they'll bleed you dry' after the little ghost things? slightly unnerving.

  • @cranialbreather Yeah. Looks like a warning from Boards to all of us whether we be adults, teens, or children.. but a warning to any of us who still have good left in their souls & hearts & minds. To those of us who still have a conscience & compassion.

  • this song makes me appreciate the wonder of childhood and sadness at growing up, at the same time

  • fuck man.....

  • I miss playing with my lego's and im 20 years old in 1 week........................... Wait ? i still play with my lego's and smoking weed at the same time as listening to BOC :D

  • I NEVER WANT TO GROW UP! :'D

  • this is truth,im 27 years old child, just watching stars and rainbows and thinking,im free :D

  • Here's the skinny on the track:

The name of this track is "Poppy Seed" by Slag Boom Van Loon

The original version can be found on Youtube by searching. I'm sorry but it wouldn't allow me to post links.

Boards of Canada remixed this track and created a reprise to boot.

  • Sure sounds like them/something they would do...

  • nice video

  • boards of canada youtube channel favorited this by the way, and it is boards of canada, the track sans "I guess im growing up!" was used in the poppy seed remix.

  • there music has so much meaning but little to no words...Truthfully they are my music heros and I want my music to be as out of the box as theirs is .

  • @zwerty007 fail comment,it's BoC!

  • @BeansOnGhost Dude, you can't just say that my comment stating that I don't THINK it's BoC is failed giving no evidence whatsoever. Can you tell my why you believe it's BoC?

  • @zwerty007 Sorry i have no evidence, but id bet my right nut and say it's BoC ;'D

  • @BeansOnGhost Hang on, I saw another video which is a reuploaded version of this, and it has as the music 'Poppy Seed(reprise)'

  • It's all about discovery. When you are young you discover the world. When you are a child you learn about words, math, and science. After as you get a little older you learn about people, making friends and relationships. Then you start to discover things hidden from plain sight like god, war and death.

  • 2+2=22 :D

  • Classic -- #BoardsOfCanada

  • Dude.... Jacob Two-Two and BOC are a bad influence on me. Watching this video clip just makes me want to take something and watch it over and over again, and I'm an adult. Wow! That's all I can say! This video is probably better when you're sober!

  • I find it funny that the captions say "Guilty!", "Condemmed", "Don't let them catch you! They'll bleed you dry!" I've never seen Jacob Two-Two, so without putting those captions in context, this clip seems like it could almost be really really proto-typical for a 70's/80's childrens' show... the whole psychedelic audio-visual theme put to what seems like an afternoon special where some kid will pop pills, go on some trip, and end up in a hospital. "Moral: Don't drop acid like Little Johnny did!"

  • Is it me or does it say "ya metanse a bañar"... lol, it is me.

  • @gabiiepheer yo tambien pense lo mismo xD

  • @joeblow166 not all kids are hateful :(

  • If you like Boards of Canada, Helios, Hammock, Rachel's, Unwed Sailor, Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf, and similar artists, you may like my stuff. I'd love some support! :)

  • Children torture animals, pull the wings off flies, make red and black ants fight in confined quarters, and beat up & tease one another in vicious ways in the schoolyard. Children are thus not the embodiment of limitless and pure good. In fact, as an adult I'm tired of little children projecting their fears and miseries upon me. I've got enough of my own. How dare they? Children are the source of adult hatefulness, not the passive recipients.

  • If indeed some children out there have "projected their fears and miseries upon you", can you record it for us? It would be great to see; perhaps, the makings of a new sitcom?

  • @joeblow166

    lord of the flies

  • @joeblow166 Sounds like you hate children, you dirty adult you.

  • I just realized the kid in this video is from an old movie called Jacob Two Two! Brings back old memories.

  • A child's mind. Limitless and pure. The perfect place for adults to dump their misery and hatred.

  • Nice.

  • the prison is in your mind but so is the key

  • a child's prison is their own body

  • sound like cute video game music

  • i cant stop listening to this .. shame its so short

  • the music is Slag Boom Van Loon - Poppy Seed (Boards of Canada Remix Reprise) theres also another BoC remix called poppy seed which is also awesome :)

  • Nice vid and music

  • VERY WELL DONE! - The images being back momories of ... Magpie, Multicoloured Swap Shop.

Renta-a-ghost, Pipkins, Daytime Schools programs. Seeing & Doing ... Wordy... ....This random list could go on & on... Fuzzy nostalgia

  • Ok - this is brilliant. Glad someone see's BOC as I always have. Thank you for making it.

  • I woke up today and I am now 21 years old.. but a 11 year old is still behind the controls. Go me..

  • @id300129 strange thing is... no matter how old you get, there's still an 11 year old behind the controls. But when you look in the mirror it's a whole different story. Trick is stay young on the inside

  • @id300129 hgfsd

  • @id300129 And when you die, an 11 year old dies inside of you!

  • @id300129 Me too, LOL !!.

  • No video made to date accurate captures the Boards of Canada sound as well as this, and any child born and raised in the 80's into the early 90's will agree with me on that.

  • i really like BOC, and i think this is maybe the best ever video made for one of their music - until this time. From time to time i come back, to watch it. Thanks David.

  • too fast for BOC

  • Dear all of you 338 of you who "liked" this video, I'm really honored that this student video i did back in 2002 still resonates with people. Thanks!

    -david

  • @amoebalabs

    thank you!

  • Public school is a12 year prison sentence for innocent kids who are presumed to have no intrinsic interest in learning on their own.

  • Bicycles is a great way to kill kids...

  • Life was so much stricter as a little kid. I remember when if you spoke in the hallways, you were dead meat!

  • @Omegashadowyoshi Despite to your name i still think you are a kid

  • i think the message is pretty obvious and true

  • Sorry dillitex this is a BOC track and it's called Poppy seed (reprise) but you are correct about the video. Peace

  • Ill shed some light, BoC didn't make this song or video.

  • Tycho FTW

  • superb video love this to bits

  • ah memories of growing up in the 80's.

  • odd...it doesnt sound like BoC....

  • @imagesunlimiteduk I don't agree with that at all.

  • 2002 film by david ahuja of ameobalabs

film samples from "jacob two-two meets the hooded fang" (1978)

music: boards of canada remix of poppey seed by slag boom van loon

    there you guys go.

  • @oliverwaker456 hit the nail on the head. someone did their homework.

  • @oliverwaker456 jacob 2 -2 ,thats awesome!!!

    thanks for shedding the light!

  • A spectacular video that portrays twelve years of emotions, condensed down into one minute and eighteen seconds.

  • @imagesunlimiteduk very very true, pure poetry mate!

  • The Song is Called Poppy Seed Reprise by Boards Of Canada

  • very different from most BOC songs. I love it though, reminds me of elementary education...

  • this message reminds me of the logical song by supertramp. so so good.

  • its like MGMT from the 80's

  • I guess i'm going up

    Positive thinking kid

  • sweeeet

  • nice

  • Damnit i was lookin for

    Blue

  • @redslownight o i c wut u did thar

  • EDGYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • I love it although it is depressing.

  • This is the poppy seeds reprise on that Slag Boom Van Loom album "So Soon"

  • @razedeezy ...exactly, with the audio "I guess I`m growing up!" added in, the video was made back in '02 by this guy David Ahuja of "Ameobalabs", all the info including the video samp. sources are on YouTube too, titled under "The Children`s Prison - Boards of Canada - Ameobalabs", just lettin every1 know who actually made this and that may have thought this was done by BoC

  • WHAT THE FUCK

  • hear hear

  • god i miss the 80s

  • John 3:17

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

  • Looks and sounds like the opening sequence of "Look Around You"...

  • OH MY GOD that's exactly what I was thinking! haha gotta love the UK

  • spyrograph first, then some lego on the floor with a glass of milk and biscuits. then paul will come round to play after school :)

  • damn, this one's creepy

  • is amazine

  • I think this video seriously just gave me an LSD Flashback...yikes

  • That's right, kids. Don't do drugs.

  • bye you little girl

  • certainly sounds like boc

  • BoC is kinda psycho

  • i don't like this, it's too electronica

HOLY FUCK I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY THAT ABOUT THE BOARDS.

  • Er... what's wrong with Elecronica?

  • it's too owl city electronia, likes.

  • Oh, too much synthpoppy feeling? I understand that more. I don't like to call Owl City "Electronica", his music is terrible.

  • i like to call the boards electronic rather than electronica.

  • what the fuck is this about?

  • LSD

  • Children... hmmm. boc....

  • "they'll bleed you dry"

  • For me this sound THE ONE of electronica.

  • Arghh I love this!

  • The track is from the album So Soon, which is an album comprised of remixes. This one is Poppy Seed (Reprise) remixed by Boards of Canada.

  • Also, maybe this isn't a BoC track? It's got their ace riff and their simple contrary motion bits going on - all the stuff they do that send me nicely!

  • It's a Slag Van Boom song, but it's a Boards of Canada remix

  • I read the phrase 'archaic futures' somewhere. Could be the retroness of the bakelite-looking futuristic tank that holds the spiced-up nostril blimp in Dune. Could also be those pre-1968 books on future space exploration we used to read (the rocket with the red and white colour scheme). Or it could be BoC - childhood is a massive part of it but this doesn't explain it all. It's not just looking back that's behind their appeal. It's right in the moment, right in the now when I listen to them.

  • boc is the purest evilist thing ever!

  • 2 + 2 = 2

  • 2+ 2 = 22 :D

  • This is amazing!

Is it fan made video? WOW!

  • I agree, they definetly captured me with the unique sound they have. Now I'm addicted like crack rocks, you feel me g dawgs. CRACK

  • Has nothing to do with crack, DAWG.

  • LOL

  • BoC is childhood

  • these guys, (or whoever) are really on some nexx sh*t. After the first boc song i played i realized something is really odd but has me curious about this group. great sounds and visuals to match. unreal

  • i ADORE this song. It REALLY sounds like a song i know from a nintendo game...just the beginning. It's called Blast - Earth Map! check it :D you'll see the resemblance sorta :P

  • This isn't Boards but it is still cool. This is Slag Boom Van Loon.

  • which box remixed.

  • it's listed as a boc remix on an svbs album

  • It's on iTunes - Poppy Seed (reprise) (Boards of Canada remix) - The album is 'So Soon' by Slag Boom Van Loon

  • Thanks for that! Picked up the non-reprise too, it's also very good.

  • couldn't find this on iTunes either.

  • What album is this on? I love this video and in fact this video tuned me onto them about 3 years ago.

  • buggy as fuck!!! lol i <3 it

  • I love beautiful music like this.

  • Another good Boards of Canada track. Very introspective.

  • This is a neat little tune

  • Amazing. I wish there was a longer version.

  • There is a longer version download: Slag boom van loon - poppy seed (Boards of Canada reprise)

its 1:49. The song for this video is missing the beginning and is sped up slightly. Thumbs up for this video though it rocks.

  • eastside early 60's ftball, in buffalo...whta i was born in '82, thank you

  • i miss being a little kid back in the 70`s

  • You can buy this song on itunes, Boards of Canada - Poppy Seed Reprise

  • still you gotta admit..this is pretty messed

  • And wtf, my last name is _____ van Loon too almost exactly the same. wtf?

  • Incredible song, not many words yet it is one of the most meaningful and deepest songs I have heard.

  • Images can hold personal meanings that exceed the comprehensive rate the creators forsaw. Or this was their main intention.

  • i agree..its incredibly deep but i dont know why..i want to know why..maybe you could shed some light as words are sparse!

  • excuse me while i attempt to write and shed some light, but the bottom is too deep, no end in sight, i guess i'm goin up, get ready for flght

  • @maztakeef420 touche

  • @mankeymunkey lol im surprised i got 10 thumbs up on such a short rhyme. thanks haha

  • @maztakeef420 haha you're welcome, it was pro material

  • The childrens : we impose them to be child in a way that be belive they must be.

We put them in a prison that we create for them.

This is universality, boc are mondialist and unversalist.

    Epic.

  • Beautifully said.

  • To biomechanique - I have the album "Music has the right to children" and this track is not on it...!

  • this is pure warmth

  • yea but remember that if you live in a very hot country its probably very cool ;)

  • It's not on MHTRTC. It's not on any release from BoC.

  • It's from Slag Boom Van Loon's So Soon release. It's "Poppy Seed (Reprise) (Boards of Canada Remix)".

  • I guess I'm growing up.

  • Ah the 70's!

  • this reminds me of those

    science films way the kids

used to watch in school back in the day....

    O.o

  • This is BoC - Poppy Seed

  • reminds me of the reading rainbow and pinwheel days

  • This is so sad, I miss those days now none. Im so sad.

  • somehow this one reminds me of german television commercials

  • holy crap. this is my childhood

  • Artist: Slag boon van Loon

    Album: so soon

    Tracks: Poppy seed (BOC remix)

  • Sorry

Artist: Slag boom (not boon) van loon

    the rest is correct
