It's been done all over the world. Water is 680 times denser than air. What you need is lots of speed and lean back so the front wheel doesn't dig in. If you can hydroplane on a normal road you can do it on a pond.

because when you hit water at high speed the water acts like asolid for a fraction of a second, so when the wheels hit it it cant compress the water fast enough (or displace to be more technical) so it has no choice but to stay on top

With enough speed, and with the throttle held full on, a dirtbike can hydroplane across any depth of water, as long as the surface is smooth enough.

Er, no. A dirtbikes tires are too thin to hydroplane, even at a full throttle. Its been tryed by some guy, dont remember his name, but it doesnt work. These vids are over water maybe a foot or two deep.

If you're hydroplaning "over water maybe a foot or two deep" it makes no difference how much more depth is under that, does it, you're planing over the surface, not the ground under it!
