  • Not me! Erase the dopey face and she'll be perfect.

  • I presume the Le Rhone is standing in for its contemporary the Oberursel, which was specification for the pre-D. VII Fokkers? If memory serves me correctly, they are comparable in weight and power.

  • Well, I just wish I could hear the engine. Where is Kingsbury? Don't forget people all over the world view. Mentioning what country would be helpful.

  • @ZKMX7 Old Kingsbury Aerodrome Fokker Dr.1 Triplane Engine Run (HD)

You can hear the engine on the ground.

  • Thanks for your reply. I'm guessing Kingsbury must be in Australia.

  • Maybe you could use the original or the 1930 (pre Hitler) version of "Flieger Empor," which is a great song. And not too long, so you could have plenty of rotary snarl and crickets.

  • Actually try the song "Red Baron" by Iced Earth..

  • Or heck, try MY Red Baron song in the "BicyclingGuitarist" channel here on YouTube (mp3 also available free from my official web site). The lyrics and images are historically accurate, and the song ROCKS! I wrote it on a bicycle, lol.

  • A wonderful video about a great bird!

I only "flew" it in the WW1 combat sim "Over Flanders Fields", but it must have been a great fighter plane. Climb and turning amazing! YouTube offer a choice of music for your vid, when they kick your soundtrack out. Perhaps you can find something there? Would be even nicer with sound!

  • Ron Marcotte from Dracut. MA?

  • PLEASE fix the audio on this one.. Heck with the music..

  • Most excellent!!! There are very few Dr I Reproductions or WWI reproductions that still fly rotaries. Cheers to the builders and the videographer for sharing this wonderfully unique sound. Vive leRhone!!!

  • Awesome video! I love those old WWI warbirds. The Dr.I is by far my favourite.

  • Gorgeous fighting in the mud trenches colors, but lose the french/american red/white/blue stripes (black/white/black instead if you must or german ww1 flag black/white/red). Why? Why? No...! Some skull and crossbones might be a nice touch

  • The stripes are actually red/white and black. The overall scheme was a combination of our favorite elements found on some of our WW-1 photos--including especially Werner Voss's nose art. So, pretty representative of the old triplanes.

  • Wow... get rid of the t-shirts and it could be 1917....

  • lol...

  • Great video of the Fokker Dr. 1 triplane with a rotary engine. I wish they had a rotary engine on the Fokker triplane at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Then their replica would be true to form. The Fokker triplane was one of the best known aircraft of World War I.

  • Beautiful. Look like Werner Voss cowl painting.

  • Great to see a Dr.1 with a rotary. With a rotary engine, the front end looks correct around the front cowling, just like the originals. Never thought I'd see such a close flying copy. Fantastic. Well done, and nicely filmed.

  • Next time, could you take an onboard video? Maybe mount a camera? It would be nice to experience what it was like to be Werner Voss at the controls..

  • That would be great fun, especially on a strafing run! We also have a propane machine gun on the back burner.

  • thats a beautiful DR.I:D

  • Thanks. Everyone seems to especially like the face on the cowl which we got from Werner Voss's Dr.1.

  • Great Work boys !

  • Fantastic job! I was there taking stills - what a day!!
